I am surprised to see how inactive the Indian local board is considering how potentially huge that part of the forum could be. I guess they are not that into Bitcoin after all, or it is somehow related to the constant battle with restricting people from acquiring Bitcoin.
This is just my guess, but maybe people from India are are using  something else to talk about crypto related stuff, maybe Discord group or something like that. One more thing could affect activity there is the fact that they use English in their local board, so there is less incentive to write there.

What is going on in the Arabic section? 41 total posts only, but a ratio of over 8 merits per post  Shocked
For the last few months Arabic board has big amount of posts deleted and in last two they even had negative post difference, but this time they managed to stay in positive. They are active local board, but these things mess up their post count, therefore messing merit/post ratio as well, and then you get this inflated number. In general, this merit/post ratio can be easily affected, and numbers change a lot each month for most of the boards.

Time for yet another overview of the local board activity

Data was taken from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard. I suggest checking that if you want more in depth overview of the each board.

Number of posts between July 1st and  July 31st

After being absent from last month's chart due high amount of deleted posts, Russian board is back at the natural 1st spot, while Turkish and German local boards kept their high position like in previous months.  Majority of more active boards experienced decrease in post activity, and that is not a surprise since it's summer.

Number of merit between July 1st  and July 31st

No surprise there either, Russian board as the top, since it is by far most active local board, followed by German local board. Turkish board this month as well stayed below average, since their merit source was removed by own request. As always, Italian and Arabic boards are high on the list.

Merit senders and receivers per local board between July 1st and July 31st

Merit/Post ratio between July 1st and July 31st

Last but not the least, merit/post ratio.Once again, ratio is heavily influenced by things like amount of deleted posts, so these numbers will vary a lot each month and shouldn't be taken too seriously, though some boards are constantly  high like Arabic and Italian

Very Nice Update.
I have a post dedicated to the italian board "meta" analysis:
[Meta] Andamento sezione italiana
I will use some of your graph to update that post, always linking this thread of course.

Will send additional merits, when refill. I am dry at the moment.

I'm glad to hear that you like it, and that you also have your local topic about the board activity.
I think that local boards are an important part of the forum, and often first place for newbies that are not fluent in English, so I'm kinda interested how are other local boards doing.
Regarding charts, of course feel free to use them, afaik few other members are occasionally sharing these in their local boards.

August is behind us, time for regular monthly overview of the local boards activity.

As in all previous monthly overviews , data used was taken from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard. Those that want  more in depth analysis of each local boards, I suggest that you check that tool.

Number of posts in the period between August 1st  and August 31st

As in all previous overviews, top 3 local boards are always the same: Russian board far ahead, and followed by Turkish and German local boards. Majority of other boards didn't experience huge changes in activity so no big surprises there. As always, some boards are not on the list due negative post difference like Chinese, that had more than 3,000 posts deleted/moved in the last month period.

Number of merit in the period between August 1st  and August 31st

No surprise that Russian is at the top of this chart as well, considering the fact that they are by far most active local board, but others like German, Italian and Arabic also stand well, especially if you take in account their board size. This time we miss some smaller boards like Greek that didn't have merit activity whatsoever.

Merit senders and receivers per local board in the period between August 1st and August 31st

This chart pretty much follows the previous one, as it makes sense to have more members involved in merit system if you share more merit. Some boards stick out like Pilipinas and Turkish that have higher amount of merit senders/receiver compared to their merit activity. That could imply that maybe they could use more merit sources but only members on those boards can tell that for sure.

Merit/Post ratio in the period between August 1st and August 31st

Once again we have Arabic board at the top, so no big surprises there, followed by Italian board that is also regularly high on the chart. I'm glad to see my local board (Croatian) finally moving from the bottom. Some boards that are usually higher are low this month (Pilipinas and Indonesian). Same goes for Turkish board that still didn't recover from that merit source loss  few months ago, so they ended up at the bottom of the chart.

As I said in previous overviews, most local boards vary a lot on this chart each month so it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Yet another brief monthly overview, slightly delayed this time.

As always, I took the data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard where you can find more interesting info regarding each board, and not only the local ones.

Post activity in the period between September 1st and September 30th

Compared to August, there was a decent increase (approximately 9%) in the post count, from 21411 to 23233. As in previous months, no change at the top, Russian board is far ahead, followed by Turkish and German boards. Regarding other boards, no significant changes there except Arabic that had a lot of deleted posts for some reason. All those boards that are usually at the bottom end are still at the relatively similar numbers, with Chinese and few others missing due negative post count.

Merit activity in the period between September 1st and September 30th

One would expect for merit number to increase due more posts written in local boards, but that's not the case this time. Despite 9% more written posts, overall merit amount shared decreased from 5681 to 5154 making it 9% less. Among most  active boards, Russian, Turkish and French had increase, while almost  all the others had lower numbers compared to previous period. These numbers usually fluctuate from month to month so it's not a reason to worry, imho.

Merit senders and receivers per local board in the period between August 1st and August 31st

Self explanatory chart that more or less follows previous one, with few boards that usually have higher amount of members involved in merit system compared to merit shared. Someone might argue that those boards (Pilipinas for example) could use more merit sources, but it's hard to say without knowing post quality and only members active there can say whether that's true.

Merit/Post ratio for the period between September 1st and September 31st

Due increased post amount and less merit shared, overall ratio dropped from 0.27 to 0.22. Arabic board is once again at the top, but  2 merit/post ratio is deceiving  as that board had unusually high number of posts deleted that inflated the ratio, while Hebrew is so high simply because their very low post count, so even 2 merit shared inflated that number as well.

I don't know what's going there, whether their lost merit source or posting quality decreased but Pilipinas board continued their decline month after month, with record low 0.08 merit/post. Another board that used to have much higher ratio, Turkish, is still at the bottom end of the chart but for that one we know the reason (lost merit source).

October is behind us, time to see how local boards performed during that period

As in all monthly overviews so far, all data was taken from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard. If you want more in depth analysis of each local boards, I suggest you check that awesome tool.

Names marked with * don't have their own local board and are located in Other languages/locations.

Post activity per local board during October 2020

Once again Russian board is way ahead of the others, but this time even more as they had huge increase of post activity in Altcoin section (basically all difference compared to previous months comes from there). Turkish and German board are  2nd and 3rd spot as always so no surprises there. Rest of the boards had pretty much similar activity like in previous months.

One thing that can always mess up these numbers and paint the wrong picture is number of deleted posts, and that's what exactly happened in Arabic board, that is more active than it seems based on this chart, as they had more than 400 deleted posts, for some reason. same thing can be said about Chinese board that is not even on the list due huge amount of post deleted, but that is not news anymore.

Merit shared per local board during October 2020

As in previous chart, not many surprises there this month. There were no big amplitudes in majority of boards, but there are few exceptions; Pilipinas board increased merit shared by almost 100% compared to September (from 70 to 137) while Polish board had exactly the opposite thing, merit shared decreased by 90% (from 83 to 8 ). Huge changes, especially in the latter case as their post activity didn't change drastically to explain that difference.

Merit senders and receivers per local board during October 2020

This chart generally follows the previous one, as it is natural that local boards with more merit shared have more members involved, but there are always few exceptions in which more members are part of the merit system compared relative to merit shared. As always, Pilipinas board especially sticks out, with Indonesian joining too.

Merit/Post ratio per local board during October 2020

Last but not the least, merit ratio chart. Once again Arabic board is at the top, followed by three big boards: Italian, Spanish and German. Some boards like Pilipinas doubled the ratio (from 0.08 to 0.16) while some that were already low like Russian even decreased, but that's due that huge amount of altcoin section posts. Polish board at the bottom of this chart is not a surprise since their amount of merit shared decreased by 90%.

As always, it's worth to mention that this chart can vary a lot each month due various reasons, so it shouldn't be taken too seriously. For clearer picture longer period of time is needed.

edit

I've added four communities that don't have their own local boards: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Serbian and Nigerian. They seemed like a most consistently active ones among those from Other Languages/Location and that was the main criteria.

I am surprised to see how inactive the Indian local board is considering how potentially huge that part of the forum could be. I guess they are not that into Bitcoin after all, or it is somehow related to the constant battle with restricting people from acquiring Bitcoin.
Given the population we have in our country and how good the crypto could have been here, it is quite opposite to see just a little over 2-3 posts being made on a regular scale per day. This is primarily because of the confused legalization of cryptocurrencies in our country and far less education in terms of bitcoin on the whole. At times, it could even sound like I am roaming all alone in the board  Cheesy I even went to the extent of organizing various fun free raffles each month which pays out 0.001 btc just for guessing a hash number to engage the discussions but all these efforts went in vain considering the meagre Indian population we have in forum. Even to this month, I organize them but hardly it takes up to 2 months to fill up 16 spots  Roll Eyes Check this : [INDEPENDENCE DAY RAFFLE] #7 - Pick a lucky number and win 0.001 bitcoin

This could be because of various reasons :

[1] People aren't willing to show they belong to India
[2] Since Indian netizens speak English, majority move onto global boards
[3] Even though trading has become legal since Feb 2020, people still fear using crypto here.
[4] No real adoptions, lack of education in bitcoin and scams rising in huge numbers : Ethereum Investment Schemes are again active in India

This is just my guess, but maybe people from India are are using  something else to talk about crypto related stuff, maybe Discord group or something like that. One more thing could affect activity there is the fact that they use English in their local board, so there is less incentive to write there.
There is a telegram group "IndiaBits" which is filled with a little over 4k members but the discussions are related only to trading and nothing much. Hardly some devs pop up, but the discussions are submerged in trading. More importantly, we can't import mining machines (least to say legally) and hence we don't have any mining discussions taking place over.

English seems to be a major hurdle for us, but we have at least 22 official languages spoken in various parts of country and if we try to create topics in each and every language it would mess up the whole board making them unreadable. This is why we are using English on the main boards.

Check this topic to know more about the current situation of our board : WTF! with this board?

Yeah that makes sense, to use English that most people understand anyway, otherwise it would be complete mess, to make specific child board for each of the languages. Here in Europe we sometimes forget how big countries like India and China are, and how many different languages people are using.

I know about issued an average bitcoiner in India has and that government is pressing you hard for years. Hopefully that changes as India is huge market and both people in your country and bitcoin itself would benefit from your government being more open to this whole idea.

Check this topic to know more about the current situation of our board : WTF! with this board?
I will, and thank you for detailed answer about situation in your local board, as I am interested in those since I see them as an important and often overlooked part of the bitcointalk forum.

Cheers!

@Rikafip Is it possible to provide similar charts for pinned topics under Other languages/locations ?
As a matter of fact, I've been planning for some time to include few most active communities from Other Languages board, as a kind of support for those languages without local board, but for some reason I kept postponing it, but I am gonna change that now and I'll try to update October chart with few most actives ones (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Serbian and Vietnamese) in the next few days, probably by the end of this week.

While I can easily count posts written in some specific timeframe manually, and merit shared for posts written in that period, one thing I can't do manually is to check whether someone merited post written in let's say June 2019, but he merited it during October 2020. It should be included in October chart, but I simply can't find something like that manually.

I asked assistance in that regard, and if that is not possible, I will at least count posts and merit shared for posts written in that period. That is best I can do manually, for now.

I do not have the post count though, to derive the merit/post. Normally I archieve the data pages I need at regular intervals, manually tabulate the data, and set the difference as the Net number of posts created in a month. Nevertheless, I’m not tracking post count at thread level, so you’d either need to do in manually (which shouldn’t take too long), or see if someone is willing to perform regular scrapes/counts.

If the Post count is low for those threads, the Merit/post ratio will be a "weak" indicator really.

No worries about post count part, I can do that manually , and then calculate the ratio. You helped with the trickiest part.

True, that's why I usually mention that ratio can be very misleading and can vary greatly from month to month. Even boards with high activity can be affected with that, as seen from all those previous months charts.

I updated October charts with 4 communities without local boards: Pakistan, Bangladesh, Serbian and Nigerian (they are marked with *). Charts updated are Post, Merit and Merit/Post for now. 4th one, chart of Merit senders/receivers is a bit tricky to get without external assistance, so I've decided to skip that one for now, but might add that in the future.

Regarding communities added, those seemed like a most active ones  and I didn't want to clutter the charts with all communities as some of them have only few posts per month, and sometimes not even that. Someone may argue why some of the local boards are there despite having similar scenario (Hebrew, Japanese. Skandinavsk etc) but my first goal was to make  overview of local boards, and those are local boards.

I do not have the post count though, to derive the merit/post.
That should be easy to get from all Merit data. I don't have data per board, but it's easy per thread.

After application of BitcoinDream for merit source, a lot of people shared merits in our local and thus the circulation got increased which have direct affect in October too. Almost all the merits are being circulated which seems good.
After that, I have to agree that quality of our local board have been changed although not outstanding but I'm satisfied enough with the change. It now looks like among all the local in other language, Bangladeshi local is the most active board.

Yep, that’s precisely the set of information I do have (cumulative of Merit.txt since file generation genesis), and used it to derive above the Merit per thread that @Rikafip required for given timeframes. I was really referring to post counts though, which is the second component to derive the merit/post ratio. Post counts per thread I do not track.

I was really referring to post counts though
My bad, I assumed you meant only the number of Merited posts per thread.

A few days ago, I found some user on the Indonesian local board asking about decreased posting activity on the local board on a thread I created. So I want to get permission from the OP to take some data related to the distribution of post made on local board and update it in my thread without losing the source. If allowed, I'd like to get data from January 2020 to October 2020. Waiting for approval.

Of course you can use all the charts on this topic. After all, that's one of the reasons I started this, so members from other local boards can also share some of the stuff, if they find it interesting/useful. Beside these chart that I made, you can complement your topic with various data that you can find in @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard. Here are few examples:

November is behind us so it's time for yet another overview of the local boards.

Data used for making these charts was taken from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard which you should check if you want more detailed look at your local board.

Communities marked with * don't have their own local board and are located in Other languages/locations.

Post activity per local board during November 2020

Big surprise on this chart, Turkish local board was the most active one, ahead of Russian and German. This is the 2nd time since I am making this overview that Russian didn't ed up at the top. While first time it was due high amount of deleted posts, according to data available that's not the reason for huge decrease compared to previous month when Russian board had more than 18,000 posts (they did have big decrease in altcoin section). Beside Turkish, few other big boards like German, French and Portuguese experienced big increase in the activity, which is not a surprise considering the current market situation. Hopefully this trend will continue in upcoming months.

Out of four communities without local board, Bangladesh is consistently for months the most active one and stands quite good even when compared with the ones with local board, and Pakistan ain't bad either. Who knows, if they keep being active and keep topic clean from spam, maybe they get their own local board one day.

Merit shared per local board during November 2020

No big surprises there, majority of active boards shared relatively similar amount of merit like they did during October and they even kept very similar ranking like during the last period.

Indonesian board keep getting merit amount decreased month after month, while the one that had biggest drop percentage wise was Bangladesh, with only 4 merits shared during whole November which is a pretty low considering more than 300 posts written. Afaik, they do have merit application pending (same as few other local boards without merit source) so hopefully that gets sorted eventually.

Merit senders/receivers per local board during November 2020

As expected, this chart pretty much follows the amount of merit shared, with a few standard exceptions like Pilipinas board, whihc has very high amount of members that are part of merit system, considering the amount of merit shared. Four communities without local board are missing from this chart as I didn't have exact data.

Merit/Post ratio per local board during November 2020

All standard boards are pretty much at the top half of the chart, with Russian board being unusually high due much lower post count compared to previous months while keeping similar amount of shared merit, therefore boosting the ratio, and few big one like German and French had decreased ratio due significant increase (approximately 50% ) in pots count.

Just to add once again that these numbers can vary a lot from month to month, especially on the boards with lower post count so they can easily end up very high, like Dutch, Nigerian and Romanian did on this chart.
