I know this lockdown may not continue as much as we imagine or maybe not even as much as we need to be staying at home before we could go out again, however do you think this will continue? I think this could literally turn into a stream with casters and something quite fun and entertaining that could turn into a huge marketing chance for SwC other than just another topic on bitcointalk.

I would like to also join in but now that everyone has already moved up so much in the ladder, I do not feel like I could come in and make any difference at all right now so I think I would join in if there is a second one that you guys would do when this one ends. Lets hope that this becomes a tradition and continues forever and we can always find people to play, this is probably one of the biggest crypto poker tourney I have ever seen and should be regarded as such.

We definitely plan to make this a regular thing so you will definitely have a chance to join bitcointalks 2nd ever poker series. Smiley As far as I can tell, we are all having lots of fun (even though I personally suck big time!) and I am very happy about the number of players and how everybody is looking forward to the tournaments. Stay tuned...  Cool

To keep it simple, you were scared of somebody getting the straight on a river, but straight was already there! Your calculator with those odds is maybe for the river, but after that jack on the turn, I was 90% and you and jack waited for the river! In case of jack, king or ace I would lose and some of you to would win! Point is that you paid for river, and you had small chances to see that king or ace again. Jack would lose if there would be another K or Ace, you would be the higher full house, he could see another 8 or one more jack, but luckily for me he didn't!

My friend this kind of things happen to me all the time! It's poker after all, if you saw my comments than you know that I was on that losing side many times, too many times is you ask me! I will tell you one strategy I find very wise, take a look at your cards and make a decision how much they worth. Pot, double or triple pot?! Maybe all in?! Your cards + pot cards give you a value, compare that value with your chips and if it is worth pay, if not fold!

Nope, I was not scared at all. I was sure I had the winning hand, even after the J hit on the turn. It is not really common to have 3 people with something higher than a pair, I had 2 strongest pairs on the table. I thought somebody can maybe have 2 pairs (J8 or something like that), I did not think that straight was a real worry at that point.
The odds I used were on the flop, before the turn. I calculated them to show you why I did not 'attack' that pot and why I decided to wait for somebody else to be trapped. We can talk different strategies, what usually happens is that either I scare people away after the flop and win small, I drag people to bet and the flop&river turn in my favor and I win big or flop&turn go against normal odds and I lose.

Bottom line - with 3 people playing and me having 2 strong pairs after the flop and no danger of a flush near, I feel really comfortable with these 85% odds. I'd take the same deal any time, most of the times it will still be the winning play. This time everything went the wrong way for me, but that actually is the beauty of poker Smiley

Sorry, I use the wrong word, scared is not the right word! It's strategy you tried at the moment!

We can talk different strategies, what usually happens is that either I scare people away after the flop and win small, I drag people to bet and the flop&river turn in my favor and I win big or flop&turn go against normal odds and I lose.

And this is exactly what I talk about! When you try to play high stakes poker you will see that every card cost money! It's you who set up the price or others, but to wait one more card should be expensive for others if you are strong, if not you let others to get something for free! In small stake games or low cost tournaments you don't see that game play! In this thread we discussed a difference between playing 1/2 and 5/10 tables.

Now we discuss a specific hand! We all know what happened, what I am saying is that with different play I would definitely fold my Q10! But then you would still have problems with a guy with JJ and J on the turn. If you go all in before flop I would fold he would probably call with JJ and win! But situation after flop AK8 your all in would kick him out of the game probably, and if I would pay some pre-flop I would fold too on some higher rise! Now we speak about different styles of playing, but outcome is the same, and this works for many hands, the more you play more times you will encounter with same dilemma!

But in the end it's easy to talk about it when everything happened already. We make decisions in the seconds, but point is that you need to observe the table and to act accordingly, always take in consideration your stack, your opponents stack and of course pot! I need to point out once again that playing tournament games is different from playing cash games! Tournaments are not the same, everything depends on late registration time, starting chips, re-buys and add-ons, for each kind of tournament you will have to use different strategy!

This time everything went the wrong way for me, but that actually is the beauty of poker Smiley

Respect! It's beauty of poker! I can't count how many times I was wrong, but life goes on! As long as you have some chips you will receive cards, as long as you receive cards you have some chances! Good luck!

My problem is that when I do not get good card after waiting several hands, I feel frustrated and start losing my focus.

it's called "card dead tilt" and it's a killer! http://www.upforpoker.com/archives/card-dead-tilt.html

this is why i like to have a beer and a joint at the table, to help with the boring times. multi-tabling can be good too. playing only one table (especially full ring) can feel super slow online.

Cool

i'm definitely in for another series, especially if SwC keeps adding value! Cool

i'm glad to be a strong contender in the standings but i still need at least one more strong showing to secure a spot. i'll be sending the 400 chips for next weekend shortly, keep an eye out.

Respect! It's beauty of poker! I can't count how many times I was wrong, but life goes on! As long as you have some chips you will receive cards, as long as you receive cards you have some chances! Good luck!

@cryptofrka/iv4n

It was me with the JJ and J (Pitkins)

If cryptofrka goes all-in pre-flop or postflop i would've folded 100% but at the same time i was ready to see the turn card if it was small raise, say the pot.

With JJJ, my read of the table was as follows, cryptofrka either has A and a high kicker or worst case scenario A8, iv4n with K and high kicker or perhaps needing one card for a straight.

I decided to go all-in expecting iv4n to fold and cryptofrka to call, i wouldn't be that aggressive if i didn't lose another set of JJJ to a flush just ten minutes ago (thought it can't happen again).  Grin

Thankfully i had enough chips to stay on the table and keep messing up the good cards i was dealt.  Cheesy

Yup, exactly. I did not want to scare you off considering you were the one that re-raised before the flop if I recall correctly?
I got dealt the perfect cards at the flop, I kinda expected you to push after re-raising initially. That's the situation I would have preferred, although in this situation it would be a losing one for me as well because that flopped J would not have bothered me and you would actually be trapping me at that point.

Respect! It's beauty of poker! I can't count how many times I was wrong, but life goes on! As long as you have some chips you will receive cards, as long as you receive cards you have some chances! Good luck!

Hahah, I'll remember that going forward. Cheers!

multi-tabling can be good too. playing only one table (especially full ring) can feel super slow online.
Multi table is a disaster for me. I can not focus in either table LOL
In this short period of my poker experience I learned that waiting for the good card and then hit is the best strategy unless you are too unlucky. Whenever I lost my patience I ended up giving away all my chips but there are also times when I have waited patiently, I was running out of chips but one good hand got me back everything with a very strong candidate in the table.

Do you prefer Saturday or Sunday?
Make it Saturday. I do not mind the time.

And  it has to be at the same time so that those (probably me too) who will not make the final can at least have some fun with the others. An entry fee of 1000 chips should be ok too. Also after this tournament can we have regular event like this on a Saturday or Sunday evening? This seems a good way to hang up with know faces in a poker table.  I have to say that I am pretty regular in the tables. In sportsbet.io and swc.

Don't worry. Looks like it might become a more regular thing. Already talks of repeating it.

It has gone well on the whole, the odd bump in the road, but its all good.

If you haven't registered yet for the final tournaments, please send the chips and pm me for the passwords!

Details regarding the Championship game as well as the runners-up tournament will follow soon, too!

On a personal note: I just realized I may still make it to the final if I win both...?! Cheesy
