In my perspective it's only a fun way to entertain myself and to lose steam from a stressful day especially these days when im really bored due to the lockdown i keep myself busy with various things such as movies, mobile games and gambling. I dont like doing extra work like having records in my spreadsheet, it will only lead to ovethinking and anxiety perhaps gambling sites could add history of bets made by an individual player to keep track.
Yes probably that is right because if our purpose is for fun only for sure you spending a little amount of money so there is no need for us to compute in the spreadsheet or anything to see how much we lose and how much we esrn money because once you compute all your money using in gambling and you saw you lose big amount of money you trigger to get back it and high chance for you to to play more and once you play agaib another will risk to your money.
Same goes with me, I don't want to keep track of all of my doings in gambling and so I will able to forget about it easily when I lose. I'm just gambling for entertainment so there's no need for me to track those.

When I seeing numbers, It'll just put pressure on me to gamble more and get back what I've lost recently. Instead of enjoying, you'll just be stressed about gambling.

Didn't know there are people who thinks gambling is a form of investment. Wow. Even if it is, then it indeed is the riskiest of all kind of investment. Though I never consider gambling as an investment.
I think everyone keeps track of their gambling habit. All modern casino does have personal statistics included on their casino, thus there is no need of opening a spreadsheet and doing all calculations.

The only time you do consider that gambling is a form of investment is on the time you do put up money or invested with the house itself but if you are a player? Nah its never been considered to be an investment.
We know that this one is created for entertainment purposes and its just dumb for you to mind that you are investing on the same time. You are just making yourself look dumb to believe into those things.
Tracking does help but only on sportsbetting yet you can make calculations which are needed for your risk management but for luck based games like dice and similar then i dont see a point on
why would you need to track everything.

My answer is no, I don't track my gambling but if ever I track my gambling then here is what I will do. First, I will use a portfolio or a spreadsheet to put information of my bets for example and the amount of money I use to gamble (afford to lose) and what time I gamble then I'll be able to track my profit and loses but in my opinion most results is losing profit or money since it is not an investment in the first place.

It may not take long to mark how much you have lost or won in the table. This can be done immediately after the end of the gambling game. This is especially convenient because the game information is still fresh in your memory. This is very convenient for the purpose of then looking at the statistics of their games. Maybe someone doesn't do it for the purpose of not getting upset or because they don't need to. But it is impossible not to do this due to lack of time, since it takes very little time.

The idea of that can be changed if they are actually investing to a casino bankroll.

But they don't and what they do is the actual gambling. And the money they spend gambling is being considered as their investment which really thinks that it is but, in reality, it's not an investment but leisure unless they gamble for a living.

Some avid gamblers may specifically refuse to track how much money they lose. For example, not to worry about losing a huge amount of money in a short period of time. Or so that the wife doesn't see such records.

That would be a bad practice, I'd say. Keeping the track of your wins and losses in gambling can help you improve your money management overall, which can be very useful in your other activities. Gambling can be a good platform for learning the very basics of economy. Only don't gamble with high amounts, lest your education become too expensive. Wink

In fact, I have never considered gambling to be an investment but rather a game that can finish quickly Grin

Gambling is only played by people addicted to the game and why gambling is a lot of people do because this game is quite challenging where once won you can be rich.

Therefore gambling games must have great guts.

But a lot of gamblers have no money management, that's why most of them don't keep track of their winnings/losses. lol Or if you are a small timer or only play occasionally, for me, there's no need to record your expenditures unless you are an OC person who jots down all the expenses everyday down to the cents you are shelling out from your pocket.

do it by limiting the target that I spend every week that's how I know whether I get a profit or loss, because I do it every week so Monday I see if I withdraw or not, and if I lose I do not add more, that's the rule that I made .
I think it will be effective for me if I will stick to gambling. For me it is better than listing the money I put in gambling everyday or listing the  wins and losses which is hard to maintain due to there are chances that I forgot to list it in a single day or more. While in the next day I probably forgot the amount already. With that idea I can also control the money I am using in gambling.

do you registerhow much you separate for gambling?
do you see it as an investment?

if yes, how do you track it?
simples spreadsheets, physical notebooks or maybe some different way?

If gambling is not your means of livelihood, you should not, gambling should be for fun, if you are going to list your winnings and your losses, chances are you are not going to enjoy the game the fun factor is not going to be there anymore, because you will see the big money you've lost than the small sum of money you've won.

I can agree with this, if it's not important for you why would you keep track? You risk how much you can lose, and no worries if that happens, in case of win you can do with your money whatever you want, more gambling or cashing out and buying some cool stuff!
Keeping track of deposits and withdrawals doesn't need to be strict, in most casinos you can check your transfer history and make quick math about where are you, but I rarely do that. I don't like when I am losing too much in a row, but after some time I always get some win from somewhere and it's how I survive for years in gambling!

There are a lot of smart people who understand the need to keep track of expenses and income in gambling. However, there are always people who do not understand this. They live quietly and do not worry about anything. From time to time, they lose a couple of hundred bucks in poker or roulette.

Sometimes I envy such insouciance.

Tracking expenses is rather an optional thing because some wont really matter that much or consider such tallying because they are willing to lose up the money that they had allocated for gambling and doesnt look back on how much they have lost on that particular day or into further days to come. There are some games which do need some tracking to see if you are profiting or not but on general case
it isnt really a mandatory thing for you to do so because once you do see the list that you are losing much this will just push you to play even more because you would aim for recovery.

Although I do not track any of my gambling win or loss, but for those who want to track is there any ready made software available in the market where you just input the value and it will give you graphs and data for analysis ? This will be easy for people who really what to know how much they are winning/losing in gambling.

Tracking expenses and revenue is the key to successful financial planning. This is best done for the entire household. this way you and your family will be able to manage your money correctly and become richer.

Gambling is an expense in most cases. And expenses especially need to be carefully monitored.

Wink

I didn't mean writing down all your debits and credits, cos indeed it could ruin all the fun. Also it's hardly necessary if you are playing with amounts you can easily afford to lose anyway. What I meant was keeping an approximate track of your deposits and withdrawals to exclude the possibility of going beyond limits.

There are a lot of smart people who understand the need to keep track of expenses and income in gambling. However, there are always people who do not understand this. They live quietly and do not worry about anything. From time to time, they lose a couple of hundred bucks in poker or roulette.

Sometimes I envy such insouciance.

Well, it's fine if they can afford it, but it's only fine up to a certain limit. Typically, people start to degenerate mentally when there is no need to worry about anything for a long time.

It's just that we're all discussing how to keep track of our expenses. How to spend less on gambling. How to get rid of addiction. How to earn money to provide for your family. And someone absolutely does not worry about anything and plays for fun.
So sometimes I want to put all my worries aside and not worry about anything)

I perfectly understand you, mate. In fact, who wouldn't want that? Smiley That's why some people are going to Las Vegas once in two-three years or so, to put all their worries aside and to gamble away a few hundred bucks, keeping no track, no anything. And that's fine. What is not fine is living like that all the time. Some rich folks engage themselves in this harmful way of living, and they can't stop until they hit the very bottom. Do I envy them? Hell no!

So, it's kind of a good thing that we don't have unlimited resources and that we must keep track of our gambling activity. It helps us to evolve. While their wealth only helps them to degrade.
