How to find your post in a topic?

Are their ways where you could find your post in a topic? you could see this on a page if you're already posted in it.

if there are so many pages is there an easy way to find your post?

You could try putting the thread title and your username into a search engine. Or you'd have to search every page for your post... If you know when it was posted, it might be faster to review your post history.

What are you trying to achieve here by the way? I don't see any valid reason why you would want to look for your post in such threads unless you want to respond to someone who quoted your previous comment. If that is the case, better to use notifier tools like that of LoyceV and giammangiato.

^ You will not see previous posts but you will be notified if someone quoted/mentioned you in the future (after you subscribe).

You can use our search button and use the forum search to make it easier and faster to search also it is better if you indicate your username and if you remember some words on your post it is easier to find the post you are looking for.

You should remember that when you are in the actual topic here in the forum, then you use the Search bar at the top. It will search only to that topic. It's best to be specific in the search bar, especially if you remember the texts or characters in that particular post unless you are willing to find it manually, just like what jackg said about remembering the time of the post. An estimate would be good enough.

If you want to know which topics you have posted previously, then you only need to follow the link below. You will find all new replies to topics that you have posted.

If you post something on a topic that has less than 25 pages, then you can also use the show all pages feature to make it easier for you to find posts and use Ctrl + F and search for your username. Remember, if a topic has more than 25 pages, then the show all pages feature is not available.

The search bar is the easiest thing you should do because this page already gives you a lot of information you need like who posted that thread, what are the rage or the time frame of that post, is this a topic thread or message, do you want all of the words are match according to the textbox you inputted. I think some of the words you construct are still on your mind just to think of those to make it easier when you want to find out the information you want. But if you don't want to can browse that one by one on that list.

Though, one strategy for finding posts if the date is unknown (or one is given a range) is to apply a divide-and-conquer algorithm to quickly find unique results.

Thanks for the tips! So their is no one click thing that is available i thought their is one because we have this kind of indicator.

That serves as a guide when browsing through boards

That particular indicator directs you to threads that you have commented on, and that thread happens to be a very hot topic. So both are combined.
Note: it tells you that you have commented on a certain thread, but cannot be used to locate the page the comment was made.

Below is what I do to find a post made by a certain user in a certain thread.

1. If "all" button is available:
I click on "all", use CTRL+F and search for the username.

2. If "all" button is not available:
I use Loyce.club.
The link below shows all posts made in this topic.

I use CTRL+F and find the post I am looking for.

There are a lot of ways to do that. Everyone has suggest some nice method. However, what I usually do for finding any post by any user is- going to the topic and in the search bar, I try to write any word I remember from the post I am looking for. Simple, it get me the result.

Go to advanced search   => https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=search;advanced

1. Search for: => Enter Topic Title
2. by user:     => Enter Username
3. Options:     => Check this =>  Search in topic subjects only

When I'm searching for a post from a specific user (often theymos), I download their entire post history and do a local search through the files. That tells me which page I'm looking for, and I take it from there in my browser.

Another way that you can use for searching is easier and simpler, fast and accurate.

You can use the method as below, there you will display your post, the topic title that you have posted, date, year, member who created the topic and also the member who cited your post.

How;
1. You simply press your account profile, then write your name, press the search button.



2. The result will be like this.



You just have to choose and see the topic title and the page that you posted and found.

The method provided by the Bitcointalk Forum is faster you find, without you having to remember the topic title, you can immediately find it.

I have here an example, I had searched the word bitcoin and this page appears, including that highlighted word of "bitcoin" and the relevance of what I have to search on the result and of course thee date it was created.

What would be awesome is a way to search for key words in messages without having to go page by page. I’m guessing there’s no other way around this?  Even just searching by part of a users username would be a major time saver. I spent maybe 20-30 mns the other day searching through messages and since some users delete their accounts that makes it even more difficult (wondering if you skipped over what/who you’re seeking or if they were one of the deleted accounts).  Note: this is prob not an issue for most, but as a collectibles nerd messages are semi often needed for reference / index of sorts.
