What does Gambling really mean to you?

Are you a gambler? Do you really know what gambling is?
From Dictionary:
* it is the activity or practice of playing at a game of chance for money or other stakes.
* the act or practice of risking the loss of something important by taking a chance or acting recklessly.

From Gambling Comission
* In the Gambling Act 2005 gambling is defined as betting, gaming or participating in a lottery. That definition distinguishes between activities which need to be licensed and other activities which do not.

We categorise different gambling activities into what we call sectors:

1. Arcades (those for adults and those for families)
2. Betting (online, at an event or in a high street bookmakers)
3. Bingo (online or in a bingo hall)
4. Casino (online or in a casino)
5. Lotteries (raffles, tombolas, sweepstakes etc)
6. Gaming machines (fruit machines, fixed odds betting terminals, etc)

From personal experience of mine
* Gambling for me is something you have the chance of winning the prize or any value, if there is no chance then you're not gambling. Gambling requires that there is a chance you might win something for your bet.
* Gambling also considered as a way source of income, there are many gamblers who tend to play because of earning money but the sad part of it is when you tend to play for money but going out having a lack of money.
* Gambling also considered a way of entertainment, there are many people who play gamble just only for entertainment or to kill boredom, it is more fun when you play with your friends.
* Some also considered gambling as a threat, once you become addicted to gambling there are many things that could change, you may lose control, you may forget some of the responsibilities of yours, as a parent, as a child, as wife or husband, etc.
The worst thing is that you may lose all of your property and can cause depression on you.

For me gambling is more of a profit/income and also entertainment. It seems like whatever game that is involving money just like betting or anything we could already call that gambling. Nothing is wrong about it you just need to put it to discipline.

I do gambling because it is fun and at the same time I could also earn a good amount of profit in playing it, even when I was a child I do small bet with my friends so we could say that this is my childhood game .

Destroy economy? maybe the opposite but for happiness and life then i highly believe that this is one of main things that would really be affected if you do let yourself fall to the pit of gambling addiction.

Business owners do know that they can profit out on peoples emotion and nature of being greedy thats why gambling industry is so big and profitable for them due to that reason. Entertainment side do really just depend on a certain person.

Treating it as a source of income or get rich system will surely put your life into the miserable side.It shouldnt really be treated up that way but people
do go to the opposite direction.

I would like to answer the option of "entertainment", but it will not be completely true. I am interested in considering games from the point of view of mathematics and looking for interesting strategies and their "profitability", but this is not getting pleasure from the excitement or something like that. Gambling for me is just mathematical “puzzles” and I never put my financial situation depending on how these puzzles turned out.

So, do you mean gambling is only a place of wasting money?
Actually no idea about it but well, gambling isn't a proper place for people who want to have a professional career and not an investment place. I agree that it is an entertainment place that people can have fun and try luck in getting a surprising big amount of money. That's why you must realize how much you can afford in funds. Don't expect too much in getting profits, and don't play greedy because it is not like an investment. Gambling is a fun place where you can bet on your luck!

From my own experience gambling is entertainment but when luck is on my side I see it as my chance to win some money. I also know that gambling is very addictive and that I must control myself and not enter the vicious circle.

Controlling yourself may sound easy until you there and see those tempting bet by the participants and the money they won. that is one thing you cannot get away in gambling so easily. the temptation of playing to win big will always get to you every time you play. Which is a bad thing if you cannot stop yourself soon. most people ended up looking for money in a desperate way just to play one more game hoping to win but they won't win at all.

Well for me gambling is basically half risk and half skill. Yes, because I only gamble in one game and that is poker. I believe that in poker you are not just playing with your cards, but you are also playing with other factors like your skill at checking other peoples emotions, facial gestures, psychology, and others. I don't believe that you are gambling in poker, you are outdoing your fellow skilled players in poker. And that is how I view gambling.

It depends on what kind of mindset you have. For me it's one-way ticket to become rich or broke bigtime. I really don't like spending my money on gambling. I'd rather spend it on something I like, like food I never tasted before. Even if it didn't tasted good I won't regret spending money on that.

None of those, gambling can be anywhere as long as you have the items needed for that game. Here on our place neighbors can gamble at the comfort of their home. They play cards, bingo, or mahjong.

We don't always do everything for money, right? Entertainment sometimes can be more important. Especially in old age, to enjoy life with health and happiness is far more valuable than money. 

Doesnt necessarily for you to be old for you to have fun because even on younger age we can still achieve such experience.Not all who are on younger generation would always target out on making profits, there are still fellas whom do seek for enjoyment or entertainment without minding much on how much money they do spent but i do also believe that majority would always aim for making money once they do touched up with gambling.

Age wont really that matter because even oldies do really still have that aim on making money rather than enjoying playing.It will depend on ones goal in mind on how they do deal with it and since people arent that similar then we would really able to see various aims towards it.

I don't speak generally and never make all people have the same way. If you read carefully, you must know that what I said above is about Bezobraznike and my own intention in the future. I appreciate his decision to prefer thinking about having entertainment by playing gambling, not about the money. And want to follow his decision in the future. Indeed, even right now I don't gamble only for money but for entertainment as well. But once I grow old, I maybe try to forget for money purpose but purely for having fun.

In my opinion gambling is the act of deliberately wanting to double money or betting by guessing a game based on chance or just estimation. I think my definition is the same as what you wrote.

When they play more and more, they will think that gambling is not for entertainment, but gambling is something that makes them curious about how to win the games. It's only two things for me, entertainment after a hard day's work you want something that will relieve you of the stress of the whole day and gambling is one of these that can do that, there's a lot of excitement because you are fighting your chances against luck.

Experts have a different definition from a gambler's perspective, and some of the gamblers will deny experts' definition because they thought they have control over what they are doing, until it's too late for them to realize.

   Kawetsriyanto, I think Carlfebz2 just wrote in general, and he is right about it, it's not necessary to be old
to have experience. For each of us is different, some people learn faster, some need more time, some never
learn. I am in the middle, I had some bad period in my life, but maybe in my 20-ties, now I am close to 50-ties,
in mean time I get married, kids, house, I changed few dogs!
   If anyone asked me I would prefer that I learned earlier about life, but nobody asks you about that, it's what
you do everyday and decisions you make, and all that catch you later. Do things in the way you will not regret it
in any case, do what you are sure it's right thing to do! Gambling is just a gambling, it's a game where people
win and lose like any other game. With kids you learn it's not important to win, it's important to make everyone
happy, even if that means your loss! In gambling it's different, but if you don't invest much you can't lose much
and everyone will be happy just for playing.

I play to make money, although not always winning but just like you said, there is an opportunity to win and you have to control your emotions in playing or you will lose it all. I was once addicted and it was very bad when I first worked, I lost all my assets because I sold it to gamble.
but now i can control myself, it hard and need a lot time to do that
