It's not bad to help newbies to rank but not so many newbies post constructive post so my suggestion is that you should divide your smerits according to rank. For example, 10 for newbies, 10 for jr. members, 10 for members and 12 for full members but it's up to you of you ever consider my suggestion. Continue helping lower ranks and posting constructive posts.

totally makes sense and it'd break the concept of meriting high quality posts.
how could someone verify the quality of a post in a language they don't speak?

are there any places in the forum where we can check a comparison on how big each local board is?

Thanks for this merit giveaway buddy, thank you for helping other newbies to gain merits for their posts, they deserve to receive merits for their post that is underrated. I was a beginner before and I am always looking for this kind of merit giveaway and it makes me happy whenever I received merit from the OP, I really appreciate this person who does this thing because they are being unselfish for this thing. We should also help other members here, we are all here with the same intention so helps each other, don't forget to prioritize gaining knowledge as well.

It is a good initiative to spent out your smerits and helps newbies-member to rank up their current rank. Some old members also doing this in the past to help others because of the difficulty to earn merit and lack of merit sources at the moment (I guess). Nowadays, there are plenty of merit sources who will give enough merit to newbies (if they deserve it), so it is quite rare to see a merit giveaway thread now.

In my opinion, you should add it to your local rules, on which language you accepted for this giveaway.
So, something like this will not happen again next time.

Anyway, good luck for the giveaway and I believe with your current merit earning speed you can achieve sr member next week.

Yes you should not but you can use a translator for this, but it's not your obligation to do that but if they want merit then it's better to only send his best posts that people can understand, in my experience I never experienced sending merit to other local board, I received a request from one friend from other country but I decline to do it because I like you I do not understand the post and cannot verify the quality.

This is a good opportunity for us beginners and I hope to get the merit(I don't know yet what it is) that you are sharing.

I think it's always nice to see someone who have something like this which aims to give chance to lower ranks to obtain merits. This allows them to provide their posts which they think are merit-worthy. I just hope that they continue posting with good quality so that others will be able to notice their works as well even without posting it on a thread like this.

You can not win by making many bounty posts and make one non-bounty post to be awared 1 merit. Keep up your changes and being on the right track and you will be awarded someday (by me or by any others).
