Hi, i am new and i had no idea you can earn money from this forum, i saw the other day a guy who got 2M UNI airdrop and he said he will give 10% of it to us, not really believe him but it was nice to hear that some users have good intentions.

Update: When i said i am new, i mean to say this account is new, but i am an old user who is been here before in 2013 and used the forum for a few months and now i am back because i start using metamask,  the reason i am not using my old account is because i cannot remember the username, email or password, old computer, format hard drive, long story.

If your only goal is to earn money on this forum, your goal is wrong.
The man you mean who gets the UNI Token airdrop is not necessarily a good member of this forum. UNI's airdrop has nothing to do with this forum.

This forum is intended for people who want to know more about blockchain technology, bitcoin and cryptocurrency, not just about money. The income earned is only a bonus for being active and contributing to this forum.

I think you need to straighten your goals, not only for the sake of money, but it would be nice for his knowledge, that's better.

If OP wants to earn from the forum, then bitcointalk.org is not the right place. If a person consider bitcointalk.org as a source of income, then I dont expect that this person can bring something valuable to the forum and will be just a parasite, flooding everywhere with useless posts.

Advice to OP - if you goal of being on the forum is just to earn, direct your efforts to the forum "that-was-once-promoted-here-via-signature-campaign" as it pays just for posting.

Lol, what a way to put it. A hypocritical statement brought to light. Well the thing is, every one is here to gain something especially the finance and then, the information aspect serves to ensure we better protect that which we have, to protect our crypto-ecology ecology from the many societal elements that seeks to destroy it due to it's decentralized nature and for upgrades of our field.
The information aspect is emphasized to ensure users don't abuse the system and see it to be solely earning oriented. So yes, you can earn here but, you've got to know about what you what to earn, how to go about it and how to protect what is earned and our unique crypto-ecology as crypto enthusiast that we claim to be.

Earning something isn't bad, but don't rely on the forum's earning, this was created because of sharing an idea and thought regarding cryptocurrencies issues and blockchain technology stuff. And also be constructively poster than and be useful in the forum then, everything is fine, looking signature that you want to promote is easy for you. If the newbie mindset was here because of the money, they wrong, they will never be grown up here if they will not contribute knowledge/skills to everyone.

This is why many people think bitcointalk forum as a source of income which is not at all. This forum is indeed a place where many company or platform that pays anyone who have the skills they are looking for. If you have a skills that is useful then you can use it to earn bitcoin rather than joininh bounty campaign.

The reaction of theymos towards stopping signature campaign has said it all, the forum isn't against any of the means of earning some pocket change that has been officially implemented by the forum. What they're against is abusing it by causing a mess on the forum. Community members are getting the wrong perspective of what the forum is all about. Nobody is against you using your skills to earn (it's welcomed here) that's why the forum has the service, marketplace boards, etc to go about all that.

Joining the forum with the sole purpose of promoting yourself, your brand etc like through offering your service isn't a bad idea but when you join just to spam the forum for peanut, thereby making the environment not conducive for other to participate in, then it becomes an issue.

There's so much to benefit from the forum that if you take your minds offer earning from signature campaign for a moment you realize. Most folks in campaigns today didn't make that their number one priority, it just came as an additional benefits to other times they're benefiting from the forum like been enlightening on some new development in the crypto space.

For me there is no wrong about making or earning money here in the forum as your main reason why you are here as long as you are being a good contributor in the forum and gou are really trying your best then there isn't going to be a problem because you are motivated by your goal and having a goal whether its money, passion or anything will make you work hard and that includes studying what you need to study in order to contribute to threads and enlighten some peole, i know money can be a shallow reason for your stay here in the forum but i tend to always look for a good spot in everything like what i have said earlier as long as you are being a good user here in the forum you are good no matter what your reason is.

Btw guys, there is another thought that has to be considered. It is not a secret that newbie come to this forum only to earn and they are a good part of the one who make this popular. I.e bounties are one of the instruments to make this forum more popular. Without newbies and their participation in bounties bitcointalk will become less popular. I'm talking from Russian local board point of view. There are few newbie that appear and show interest to cryptocurrency, while in 2018-2019 they were much more (bounty times). Topics like "is bitcointalk.org dying" start to appear.

So this forum can be considered as a source of income, but this those who wants to use it only to earn should be limited somehow.

when people don't have money, they go to that section:

collect money and then disappear from Bitcointalk and go to Twitter

when people don't have money, they go to that section:

Gambling

create ANN Thread and execute signature campaign and at the beginning answer all questions, but when their site gets popular and they start making money, they leave bitcointalk and only post sometimes

If one day on that forum there are no signature campaigns, then the forum will lose more than 90% of the current members.

But since we are using the platform we should always follow the rules provided and always post some quality contents that can help other to sustain their interest about cryptocurrency since if we can convince other and make newbie stay its either for profit gaining or for knowledge stocking then its a success for us since for sure the other newbie will invite more people to try bitcoin and go on this forum.

There are bunch of other forums with similar situation, people join forums for various reasons.

If one day on that forum there are no signature campaigns, then the forum will lose more than 90% of the current members.

I agree that forum activity would go down significantly if signature campaigns suddenly got banned, but I don't think that's in anyone's interest. But to lower chances of that happening, I think that signature campaign managers should be more strict and set bar higher when accepting the participants. Same goes for bounty managers and altcoin campaigns, as those produce huge amount of spam.

This is what theymos had to say about the subject, and why signature/bounty managers play an important role here.

I like that good forum members can make money, especially when said forum members are in poorer countries and this is a major opportunity for them. I very much do not want to destroy the sig-ad/airdrop/bounty "industry". But I am not going to tolerate people posting garbage upon garbage. If the merit system completely fails and I can't think of anything else to replace it, then my next step will probably be to completely remove all ways for forum users to make money from posting (eg. removing signatures entirely).

You forget one point, even though it is very rare to happen. Donations. If you put your Bitcoin address in your profile (or in your signature) and you write very good articles (i.e. in the highly technically focused subcategories), it can happen that a generous donor donates a few mBTCs to you. This happened to me once a few years ago. Admittedly Bitcoin was worth less then, but there are still some big whales in the forum who don't mind donating $100 or more in BTC if they are excited about a contribution.

I think it really depends on how much of an internet entrepreneur you are. Your signature is a valuable asset, and of course you can rent it to somebody else to make money from it. However the true entrepreneur will use his signature to improve his own businesses, and not some other guy's.

I am not a business owner on this forum so I rent my signature space and I came to the forum to take care of my business: trade bitcoin and altcoins and Hodl altcoins and bitcoin, participate in signature campaigns and do sports bets. it all involves money, which means I'm here for money. Did you try to read my post carefully? I never said that majority of people are here because they are genuinely interested in information, I am well aware of the fact why majority of the people are here. Pay attention to bold part from my post. I just wanted to point out that is wrong to generalize and to say that everyone here is strictly because of the money. Majority? Probably. Everyone? It is a common reason but it is not bad. The initial reason why one member joins the forum is not a decisive component that user will be a good or bad member on the forum. People can change and they can become a good member on the forum if they contribute for the community.

Signature industry can be shutdown, signature can be disabled (it was disabled in the past) so each of us as a very minor component of the forum should contribute to keep up our good works and keep up our opportunities here.

Since 2018, what did you contribute to prevent signature ads removed globally?. I raised this question to remind people on such risks of shutdowns.
