In yesterday's matches we saw a lot of goals and even more emotions:

The Pogoń - Lech game was by far the most interesting. The hosts scored the equalizer in 99min from the penalty spot. The hosts scored the equalizer in 99 minutes from the penalty spot.
Raków defeated Legia 4-0, but the match was not as one-sided as the result might suggest. Raków scored the last 3 goals at the end of the match.
Today, in the last match of the matchday 9, Jagiellonia Białystok will play at their stadium against Stal Mielec. It's hard to point to a favorite in this match.

on matchday 9 there were again a lot of goals (on average 3.6 goals per game) - the league leader lost 0-2 at radomiak radom, the derby between górnik and piast ended 3-3 and raków sent legia home with a 4-0 result.

It is great seeing again Legia Warsaw performing well and being in the fight for the title after the last poor season and it looks like Lech Poznan the team that represented Poland in the Champions League this year is not doing that well but I know we are early in the league with just 9 games played.

I think though that 9 games are enough to make a clear idea of who is going to really fight for the top spot until the end of the league and based on statistics,goals scored an conceded looks like Wisla Plock is going to be a tough pretender.

at the start of the matchday #10 there were 2 games yesterday.
piast gliwice drew 1-1 at home against sląsk wrocław and in the second match between legia and miedź it was 0-2 for the promoted team, but the favorite was able to turn the defeat around and won 3-2 in the end of the game

after the 10th matchday in the ekstraklasa, there is a new leader in the table with legia warszawa. since wisła płock lost its away match at zagłębie lubin with 1-2 and the other 3 clubs got points, the club slipped down to the fourth place...
miedź legnica and lechia gdańsk are slowly losing contact with the remaining places and the important 15th place...

Today, the classic of Ekstraklasa, the match between Lech Poznań vs Legia Warsaw.

The match, as usual, is very popular among fans, there will probably be over 40,000 fans in the stands, which is not often the case in the Polish league. Both teams are in good shape. Before yesterday's matches Legia was in the lead. Lech had a poor start to the season, but in the last 5 matches they had 4 victories and 1 draw.

due to the two scoreless draws once at the top match lech - legia and once at the away match of raków at the promoted widzew łódź, pogoń szczecin is the new leader of the table after the 11th matchday after the 2-1 win at home against lechia gdańsk.
gdańsk and miedź legnica are still far away from the safe places with their 5 points

raków częstochowa has just become the new leader of the table. in the postponed match of the 2nd matchday, the club defeated piast gliwice away 1-0. in the 90+10 minute, the only goal was scored by Fran Tudor.
raków now has 23 points, 2 points more than pogoń and legia

This just becomes more interesting although I must admit for me the favorite to win this year league remains Legia Warsaw,it is the first time I hear Rakow to lead the Ekstraklasa standings.Also the team second in the standings looks like is no real threat to Legia.

The only thing I can think that maybe Rakow is not there by chance is because they are the team that conceded the least goals from the top three fighting for the title and to me the defense of a club shows a big important point as why they maybe a strong contender for the title.

yesterday there were the first two games of the 12 matchday and the second in the table pogoń szczecin has been very under the wheels in the away game against stal mielec and lost 2-4
in the second match jagiellonia and now the new second in the table wisła płock separated 1-1

after the 12th matchday raków częstochowa could defend the top of the table with a 1-0 win against promoted miedź legnica. another promoted team is still causing furore in the ekstraklasa - widzew łódź could climb up to the 5th place in the table with a 2-1 away win at piast gliwice

for the start of the 13th matchday there was yesterday the top match wisła płock vs. legia warszawa, which ended 2-1 for wisła.
the second match between the promoted korona kielce and stal mielec ended 0-2

after matchday 13, miedź legnica (1-1 vs. cracovia) and lechia gdańsk (0-3 vs. raków) are still down in the last two places in the table.
at the top of the table, raków is now 4 points ahead of its pursuers... maybe it will finally happen this season and the club will be able to celebrate its first polish championship

in yesterday's opening match of matchday 14, the two promoted teams widzew łódź and miedź legnica met. through the goal of Bartłomiej Pawłowski in the 8th minute of the match, widzew won its home match and climbed for one day to the second place in the table

on matchday 14, of the top teams, only raków won their match (1-0 vs. korona kielce) and thus now extended the gap to the second and the surprise team widzew łódź to 6 points.
still 1 game less have the clubs lech, górnik, lechia gdańsk and miedź legnica

the top match of matchday 15 was won by the leader raków. the club won away at lech poznań with 2-1 and could even now extend its lead over legia to 7 points.
lechia gdańsk managed to leave the relegation zone for the first time this season with a 1-0 win against stal mielec - miedź legnica is still very far behind (and only with 6 points).

at the opening of the 16 matchday in the polish ekstraklasa there were 2 matches yesterday.
both home teams could celebrate a victory. stal mielec defeated zagłebie lubin 3-0 and legia won 2-1 against lechia gdańsk

on matchday 16, league leader raków outclassed wisła płock 7-1 at home (striker Gutkovskis scored all 4 goals in the first half to make it 4-0)
Lukas Podolski scored from his own half in his team's away win vs. pogoń szczecin to make it 4-1 and miedź legnica regained some contact with the other clubs after beating sląsk wrocław 1-0 at home

I must admit that I barely follow Ekstraklasa this season, simply don't have enough time for it. But from what I see, main favorites are doing well this season in general.

zagłębie lubin today announced the sacking of its coach Piotr Stokowiec.
the club is 14th in the league table after the 16th round of the 2022/2023 season. with the beginning of september, they started a series of five unbeaten games, which was followed by an october series of five games without a win (including four consecutive defeats without a goal scored).
