That is a very bad hit indeed for Klopp and if I recall correctly Liverpool have struggled so much in a defensive sense since English football was given the green light to resume in June. With Van Dijk's injury things could not be looking worst.

Villa vs Leeds is a difficult one to call. Villa have probably been flattered a bit by results, particularly the Leicester one where they won right at the end. Leeds had that close match vs Liverpool, and also drew with Man City... plus they still have the upwards momentum from their promotion season. Could go either way really, although Villa's defence looks strong, so perhaps a 0-0 might be the likeliest outcome (even in this high-scoring season).

Liverpool is not a team that is consisting of just superstar players bringing them the good work, it is a team oriented team and they will still manage to be a great team, probably even win the league without VVD, obviously he is a big big part of that team play but as long as not that many people gets injured all at the same time, they will be doing fairly well with just one missing player. Also they do have decent defensive bench as well so they are going to pack the court with them and try to find the one that has the best chemistry and understands the tactic as well.

I am not saying they will not miss anything, obviously they are going to miss a good player so they will get a bit worse, but let's not act like they are going to be mid table team because of one player neither.

You're so on point. Of course, VVD has been real solid for us at the back but he isn't all our team has to offer defensively. He'll be duly missed at our defensive line but we'll have to rely on Gomez for now. Also Fabinho has shown this season that he can step into the CB position and still do well. I think that's the route Klopp would take - pairing Gomez and Fabinho at the heart of Liverpool's defense. My only problem with this setup is that Adrian would feature at the sticks for Liverpool and as we all know, he isn't reliable. Let's see how the next couple of games would go. Liverpool is also considering getting another CB when the January transfer window opens.

Aston Villa has is still at the second top of the table so far, they have been the only club that has not played any draw or loss match this season. It is playing with Leeds United, when it played with stronger clubs, he won't them. I do not see Leeds as a barrier, Aston Villa also faced big EPL club but still having 4 straight wins, while Leeds lost two and drew one, it was even surprising last week that Leeds could lost a home match to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last match. As much as I want Leeds to win or get a point I think Villa are going to continue their winning streak here. Kalvin Phillips is out and the loss Leeds suffered last week made me lose faith in them a little bit. I'd avoid betting on this match to be honest as a draw wouldn't surprise me and I think it will be a low scoring game.

They have a game in hand as well so if they win this they'll be two points in front. I wouldn't concern myself with who's at the top of the table at such an early stage of the season though but it will certainly give Villa a confidence boost.

When Klopp signs a player, that one usually plays only after a few months when he's properly introduced to the team and tactics. That's why Liverpool's players are so compact and tactically astute.

Of course, in terms of winning the league, but for the smaller teams, like Aston Villa for example, if they win today, that'll be five wins (100% record), with a game in hand, and it already makes it kinda impossible for them to be relegated at the end of the season, except they experience a really terrible capitulation; as five wins is already more than half of the games they won in the entire last season (9 IIRC).

I really dislike Chelsea so I hope they change 15 managers in the next 3 seasons.
