Just a feeling I have. It's all credit cards and dollars and shit.
Yeah, I'd rather spend the shit money and save my bitcoins, but I can't wait until I can use real money everywhere. I'd rather get paid in bitcoin and spend bitcoin.
Me too. I would like to see supermarkets, grocery and convenience stores to adopt Bitcoin or cryptocurrency payments like displaying QR codes. Here in the Philippines, GCash and Paymaya are leading in terms of digital and QR code payments. There are some coffee shops in Manila, Makati, etc., that are already adopting Bitcoin payments. It'll take time, but we'll get there one day and our imaginations would become realities.

Finally someone who gets it! Bitcoin without a dollar middleman. Honestly I typed this up just to share the way I'm feeling a little bit. I know these options will multiply with time and LN development and adoption.
I live in the United States, in florida... I don't want to get very specific but I have one of the metro areas near me. The closest big city to me rhymes with oompa loompa.
Ah damn, so it's not anywhere I know then, would have been able to point you somewhere in Central Europe or in Southeast Asia but the Americas are out of my sphere of knowledge=p I'm almost sure there must be places in Florida though, I meet online a lot of people from there, and you see these videos with LN payments at clubs/bars in the US, maybe it needs hunting around within these app networks like Zap? Good luck, and yeah, Bitcoin without the fiat interference, feels so much nicer than doing a Bitpay.

But is this really true?we can say easier that we wanted to spend our Bitcoin buying items everywhere but the truth is when we have received our Bitcoins all we wanted to do is save them and keep on our wallet and wait until the price Grows higher ,this is the reality though i have tried couple of times using Bitcoin as payments for a service and an items online.and yeah it makes me think twice if i really wanted to let go of my bitcoins or not. i'd rather use my bitcoin to pay services that i use instead of using it at the supermarket. fiat would do just fine there, especially because most supermarket around my place only do cash transactions.
asking with curiousity mate, whats the difference of spending it to service and buying stuffs? seems like both are can be used by fiat or bitcoin so there is no Big deal if where you wanted to spend. it would be cool, sure. but i don't know if merchants would take the risk with zero-conf or if they have the time to set-up a ln node.
well merchant that will accept Crypto is a people that knows and uses crypto also then there won't be any issue.

Many are waiting for this time to come where most of the supermarkets will accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrency as payment. It will not be that long until we will reach this kind of scenario as the future of cryptocurrency is getting closer and closer as days passes by.
The acceptance is keep on growing so we can expect that in the following years there will be few countries who will accept a bitcoin payment in their supermarkets.

I think, it will happen if there is someone like you that initiate to start a business that you can pay with bitcoin and can give your change in bitcoin also and all your workers will also receive bitcoin as their salary. If it will happen, I'm sure other business men will also follow what you started specially if they are also a crypto lover and enthusiast.

Been waiting for this since I become a huge fan of crypto now could be a good time to use this kind of payment. We would lessen the risk of spreading the virus since we wouldn't have any physical contact with anyone. And it would also help us lessen the fee that we would pay since we don't need to convert it or trade it into Fiat and cash-out.

I'd like for it to be an option, but only with a reasonable solution to the issue of transaction fees and the time they take to proceed. It's okay for me that the price is quite volatile, and I believe in using Bitcoin as money. But I usually spend around $15 in the supermarket, and paying a priority fee of around $2 would be unreasonably high. If, however, zero confirmation cheap transactions became accepted, I would love to use this opportunity. Paying around 5% is okay by me because that's what I would lose on selling Bitcoin for fiat anyway, but around 10% or more is just too much, so I'd probably still use a debit card in that case.

Well, that's one of the reality since most of the people in crypto space considered Bitcoin as a store of value rather than a currency. While Bitcoin is supposed to be used to pay and accept as a currency to purchase goods or service. That's one of the many ways for Bitcoin to grow not only as an investment tool, but also as a currency that can purchase anytime anywhere like how fiat, debit, and credits functions. The same reason why LN was created, for this technology to expand its horizon and widen the adoption of Bitcoin.

It will be a wonderful feelings seeing bitcoin widely use in supermarkets or rentals shops. What will scare people most is the cost of running those transactions. They will prefer using cash (dollar) than bitcoin. For example, a goods of $10, you might end up spending $10.3 for the goods. Every bitcoin transaction has a charge fee. Which will discourage people in running minor transaction of good's

Before we can reach that phase where we will see more enterprises and shops accepting bitcoin payment, they need to get educated first. I have also heard stories/news before and there are some physical shops in my country that accepted bitcoin, although I'm not sure if they are still accepting it until now because it's really not in demand for customers. But personally, I have not seen any shops that accept bitcoin payment so I'm also curious. If a lot of people in your place are into bitcoin, there's a possibility you will see some shops or even supermarkets accepting it.

I don't believe that Bitcoin will ever become a currency, and I hope it doesn't debase itself by becoming a grocery store payment option. I see it as a valuable asset, and a medium of exchange for other valuable assets.

I'm not sure if you mean Tampa Bay, but anyway I found one map with locations where you can see all the places that accept Bitcoin. As far as I can see there are restaurants, hotels, various shops and of course ATMs - but take into account that the list was last updated at the beginning of last year. Each location has a web address and other social contacts, so you don't have to waste time and go to those places physically - and also the map has filters to choose only what interests you. Enjoy the virtual tour and I hope you find something for yourself https://www.finder.com/who-accepts-bitcoin-miami

for now doing digital transactions is very necessary in order to reduce the spread of the virus that has plagued this. if bitcoin can be accepted worldwide it is likely that most governments have implemented a payment system using Bitcoin

This might be the case the charge fee when paying using bitcoin. Since some people doesn't know this crypto yet they may be discourage in using bitcoin with additional cost fees everytime on sending transactions. So the traditional payment system will still be use, and also it will take time to adopt bitcoin as payment just like in supermarket.

There's quite a few companies already offering debet and credit cards which are connected to your crypto wallet. One of them is the Estonian project "Change" that actually started on these boards and is still doing quite well afaik (I'm by the way in no way affiliated but have followed them from the very start of their campaign on this forum).
Your crypto is in this case indeed still converted to fiat, so that's probably not what you meant by your OP, but indirectly, it's possible to pay your supermarket bell using BTC.

I would rather pay immovable properties with my bitcoin because it is much convenient to use it that way.
Bitcoin can be used also in a smaller transaction but it is more worth it if you spend it into a large and wider transactions where it will become more appropriate.
Using bitcoin in a supermarket should be done also, especially during this pandemic. Digital transactions are needed in order to minimize the spread of the virus in those establishments. But I'm still hoping that bitcoin will become much more popular and reach the mainstream when utilize as a payment tool.

This will probably happen sooner or later because bitcoin is already having good reputations in the public.
Hopefully, we can also pay using bitcoin in gaming industry, in buying things that will help us improve our quality of gaming. Nowadays, the number of streamers have a massive increase due to the quarantine. Some people really want to put the use of cryptocurrency in gaming so that they will also adopt and know that bitcoin is complex and flexible.

maybe it will happen in some countries it will be realized but there are still many countries that cannot use it because some of the most crucial reasons are because there is no regulation on bitcoin.
but for me there is the convenience of paying with bitcoin or nothing at all it doesn't have any impact because I am used to using a debit card issued by a bank that I have savings there. and the mechanism is not different from the treatment of bitcoin.

it is too beautiful to be true but too risky because there are still many shortcomings of the bitcoin blockchain itself such as transaction speed and expensive transaction fees Imagine if you pay using bitcoin and the time for the first confirmation of your transaction is 5 minutes then you have to wait for 5 minutes and what happens if your transaction takes up to 20 minutes is very detrimental and a waste of time in my opinion

I think in many countries shops are already taking payments using Bitcoin. You can checkout this article- https://www.supermarketnews.com/retail-financial/bitcoin-joins-grocery-shopping-list. Here is a list of grocery stores in US that accept bitcoin payments- http://spendbitcoins.com/places/c/grocery/. Actually many projects are under development. There are government regulations that need to follow. So, large grocery in some developed countries may accept bitcoin payments. But it’s not that much easy for the developing & underdeveloped countries, especially in this global pandemic situation. However, as soon as all the largest ecommerce sites starts to accept Bitcoin payments. All other business will come forward without hesitation. Let’s hope everything go as per their plan. I am also excited to buy things using Bitcoin.
