They were smart enough to set their supply to way fewer coins than most cryptos, and that attracted a lot of attention from everyone. If you were to multiply the 30k supply by 700 times (to get to BTC's max supply) and then divide the current price (~$29k) by 700, at Bitcoin's supply it'd be worth $41.5 right now. It's a very very vague calculus but I'm only considering the supply & price/coin.

In other words, it may be more expensive than Bitcoin but do people really not care about anything else besides price at this point?

As you are a Newbie, I would highly recommend you not to jump straight into the pumped coins if you're contemplating to. YFI may be $100k in a week or .. $1k. Volatility is a thing. You just don't know, and the timing is imo very risky right now. It's been a long time already since it's been very bullish. Coins that have really hard pumps usually have a period where the hype bursts out, and the price almost always follows. Therefore, just be careful when investing and make sure you don't get yourself screwed up by false hopes.

Is it a manipulated growth, from the low value of price less than $900, and the peak value reaching high close to $29000+ is a big growth. It also has got good volume, which makes way for easy trading compared to more other leading cryptocurrencies that doesn't have volume and trade support. None could've predicted for such a growth, very few users around might have profited out of luck.

I don't know what will happen with YFI when the bitcoin and altcoin market rise because that token is not following with bitcoin trend.
It is too scary if we decide to enter the YFI pair because the price is too high, and that token can get dump too deep, and if that happens, many people will lose too big money.
I don't try to buy that token because I don't have big money to buy. Besides that, I don't have the courage to buy and sell that token.

This token started from 0$ to more than 30K$ with around 1-2 month, the reason why they got this attention because the HYPE and Media always talk about DeFI, DeFI and DeFI. Another reason, less supply and a lot token got locked to get some stacked from them with percentage stack earning more than 30%.

If you see a lot project DeFI they only focus on less supply and offering some staked for their investor, did everyone not thingking this is just like Lending in 2017 when a lot lending platform creating because Bitconect?

This coin is going so hard that it makes you think that if you buy in now it surely will go down, then you realise that it miraculously keeps getting pumped and then you start from square 1 again. It is so ridiculously high that it could dump at any minute, so it makes it risky to enter when it already multiplied like 100x already.

if you visit their website, there is nothing in it. still in beta stage and getting that price level in the market? very suspicious, right? i hope those buyers will not regret if suddenly this pump stops and suddenly goes downward. a lot of us here have been long in crypto, so ask yourself, what's the reason that their price is increasing even surpassing the value of btc? if you can't find one, then this increase is not to be trusted as it has no stronghold to that price level.

Don't be surprise mate, the possibility came from their supply. The supply of this digital token is 30000FYI token which 29000 FYI are already in circulation which means the supply was so limited compared to other tokens in digital world. If really compare to Bitcoin price and supply; then FYI token won't sort for $50 per token.

Don't jump into this digital token because, there is much to happen to it price according to some rumors making around it core team members decision.

Price does not mean anything for an altcoin to be compared with bitcoin, bitcoin was more historic than it, remember when it was called scam in the news but reaches ATH after a couple of months? The hype is real for altcoins these days, it seems like investors are tire of waiting for the bitcoin to pump but this is not a lose battle for the crypto king. I won't be surprised if this dips for as low as $10K.

Yearnfinance was offering various ways for the users to get the yield from their tokens or coins. This coin is also having very small supply which was around 30k and there will be no more supply will come in the future.

Some people have also called that as a new generation of defi and that's why the whales have already started to pump it.

Exactly right. YFI has nothing on the coin but still got pumped to that high only show how shady it is. Don't invest in a coin just because the price seems high and keep pumping without any good reason to sustain that growth. Sure, you can earn while it keeps pumping but please be noted that it could be dump at any moment.

I don't think you can call YFI shady so much as experimental. The founder seems to be well-intentioned and is a good communicator. The price rise is because of the very low supply compared to what people are willing to buy it for. They are making all the right noises. Those who got into this in the beginning can rejoice and take profit. The developer is churning out code real fast along with fair warnings. This is the kind of thing that all those HODLers wait for in crypto.

The moment they find a good coder with enough knowledge, they'll pour money onto him. That is what is happening. I refuse to believe that people like you and me are buying those 30K a piece tokens. As I've been saying in my previous posts, there is money to be made here if you have enough time and are smart enough. With YFI, a lot of smart people are actually making a jump onto the yield farming orgy. Enjoy your orgasms while it lasts.

I have seen that its no use to reject it off-handedly as you are only gonna leave money at the table. The smart people out there, including early HODLers would be investing part of their stash for the return, risks notwithstanding. Finally, if you are like me and haven't made crazy profits earlier to risk it all away, just do some research and put in the time if you have it.

EDIT: After re-reading, i feel that this may seem like too positive of a view of YFI. The important thing to keep in mind is that the initial distribution of YFI was too short and too low. It is almost as if the circumstances were DESIGNED to pump it. This went completely under the radar due to the niche finance area it is. The early holders must have been only a handful and they came to the conclusion to CAP the supply resulting in this huge increase. Additionally, the only use of YFI token is to be staked on the platform itself. So essentially, you are investing into the platform hoping that the profits keep coming from cross trading strategies.
These cross trading strategies are being decided in a centralized manner. You will never know when the money printing stops and when the early investors decide to dump their YFI on you.

But no one will know if YFI can increase more or it will go down to the low price. It is unbelievable that YFI can surpass bitcoin price, and in a few hours ago, the price touches the new high price. Many investors in the crypto space, making a profit from YFI, but we don't know if there are people who losses by investing in YFI.

If we invest in YFI, we can take the profit while we still have a chance because we don't know what will happens in the next hours. So you need to get out for a while after you sell YFI at the high price. You don't have to buy and sell and follows the price because if you don't know how to analyze the trend and the price, you will lose the chance to make a profit.

Anyone who has no a lot of money will never try to buy this coin. My friend was getting trapped at ATH and it has already started to get a correction. I know this is the a good coin and this is the real YFI token but it sounds like the price is not reasonable for some reasons. My impression with this coin is very good and i just get a small amount of YFI to hold it until the it will reach next ATH.

I think this is the highest valuation for an altcoin so far. For only a month they were able to go that far? Is just so incredible. When I was since it last time, around 800$ I am  curious why the price is so expensive, and knowing its supply is really small, I think thats the reason but after few weeks of trading, now many news got into it and now its become a highly valuation project after major exchange started to list this. Honestly, there is a kind of manipulations with this YFI.  A friend of mine called my attention to this some days ago, he said I should invest in it.  I was still weighing my option of doing that or not.  I just don't want to be a victim when the whole thing burst all of a sudden.

The major reason why the token can pump that much is because the total supply is small. If you check the market capitalisation you'll find out that the token is no where compared to Bitcoin. YFI has a total supply of 30,000 units which is far lesser than any token I know. If bitcoin was only 30,000 in supply, it would be worth over a million dollars by now. Don't get carried away by the pump. There are only few people holding a substantial portion of the tokens and when they dump, so many persons would get burnt.

At the price it is being reached right now, your suspicions are probably correct when whale groups are probably manipulating this token, they know the supply is very low and they are holding a large number of tokens, they push the prices higher and higher, creating a phenomenon and then the participants in the back will probably become accidents, the amount of money that is lost at this point is probably not small with a big collapse. I actually tried to swap some USDT to experiment with the yearn.finance yesterday but I'm not sure what to do after going into their yearn website. I don;t know what to do. The hype is yet not over though so I might just buy a fraction of it jsut to try if I can profit. It grew so fast it coul double the value by next month.

Every altcoin market are highly manipulated and with the volatility in nature of crypto market anything can happen but if you're follower of whales accumulation youll understand that 75% of the current supply of YFI is held by whales. Maybe because of very low supply so investors interested to invest but I doubt of this massive pumped, it seems to me manipulation you know  the supply is low it can easy to manipulate it. This is high risk if you join the ride it reaches the highest peak we never know when will be a massive dump.

It's not about trust alone but there are traders who really want to take advantage of the trend rather than doing nothing. These traders take the opportunity to ride the heavily and hype YFI and it seems it's working.

And while the token establishing popularity, there are now more people (non-traders) that joined the party to expect a good profit in return within a short period of time.

It's definitely not wrong to take a ride but people should think and understand clearly how risky it is to drive in the current wave.

As you are a Newbie, I would highly recommend you not to jump straight into the pumped coins if you're contemplating to. YFI may be $100k in a week or .. $1k. Volatility is a thing. You just don't know, and the timing is imo very risky right now. It's been a long time already since it's been very bullish. Coins that have really hard pumps usually have a period where the hype bursts out, and the price almost always follows. Therefore, just be careful when investing and make sure you don't get yourself screwed up by false hopes.

I agree with this, coins that pump so high in a short span of time can also dump fast. Know first if the demand for this coin will last for some time, this can just be a result of fomo going around. It's better to understand things first before going in, and don't get easily influenced by other's opinions about a particular coin, do your own research and TA.
What I can only say about $YFI right now is that it is not overpriced when it comes to its P/E ratio since there are so much partnerships from big companies that solidified its position on the market.

That is bound to happen.  Anything that skyrocketed too fast will eventually crash hard once the market is unable to sustain the  sell off.

Check again the current price, it is decreasing again to $32,4xx. I don't think it is a good idea if you want to buy YFI with the possibly more drop currently. Indeed, the price also can soar again suddenly, but how if it is getting drop day after day. I think with too significant increases in YFI price in the last few days, it should have a correction time. If you want to bet on the next pump, don't put all your funds there. Really careful in touching this one because they have no actual use case at the moment. So basically, it is more on price manipulation. Why would a project in beta stage be on this price level? People move with trends, it's something you've to look out for. You can make alot of $ but also lose alot of $. But hey that's trading, and it's super fun. Last night, a lot of people got liquidated too.

Edit: I am personally gonna wait year finance to drop and will buy. My range is around $25k. With multiple stop losses set, just in case. But I think imma ride this train out, it's holding good atm.

YFL is in very low supply and is attracting a lot of whales to buy this coin.

I have checked the project and don't really have any information so there is still a risk when you buy at this price. In my opinion, projects like these should be avoided because if the market drops suddenly YFL will be able to get back to $100 at any time so think and be careful.

That's simply the catch. A lot of people buy into projects with far less supply, even yours truly I am looking for such low supply coins/tokens. And to even think YFI once went as low as less than $40 less than three months ago will make anyone want to hit their head on the ground. Its a great miss. However, I wouldn't advise anyone to buy YFI as it stands now in price. I would rather suggest that those wanting to buy YFI should look for other DeFi projects and buy cheap. For me, I won't do any DeFi coin higher than $2 in price if the total supply is above two million units.

I was not aware of the YFI token and my co-staff called me with excitement saying "do you know there's a cryptocoin that's even the father of bitcoin?" and I said I don't think so as bitcoin was the oldest usable cryptocoin in mind. Than he said the coin is higher in price than bitcoin. I not being aware of it called it to be some kind of pump and dump coin or a scam but he let me know that it's also been listed on Binance and Okex. It's a coin with low 30K supply and with the Defi craze, it went breaking every records.

Well funny enough I saw this damn coin at $15K and I bought som fractions of it which now has made mesom decent pofits when it touched $35K, Bitcoin has ruined the whole market with this massive dump. Actually this was foretold but I did not think this dump will come soon. Some folks are saying that Trump will not let the market crash just as the US elections are just at the corner. Id suggest you be careful before putting any money in. The Defi coins while as concept seems brilliant to many of them today seem to operate like a ponzi, i am not saying YFI or some other DEFI coins is a ponzi there are definitely some hidden gems but that one shouldn't just get carried away with the hype or the huge gains you see on the chart.

Remember crypto history is riddled with coins that pump 1000% in a matter of days only to see them drop 99.9% a few days later.

Remember the Case of Z classic that went from 280 to a buck a year or so ago or the more recent Defi coin Hotdog.

Also if any one can help me with why so many Defi coins are named after food( pasta, spaghetti, sandwich, Sushi and so on)  and how exactly am i suppose to look at something called Spaghetti coin seriously and not immediately think its a scam.

As you are a Newbie, I would highly recommend you not to jump straight into the pumped coins if you're contemplating to. YFI may be $100k in a week or .. $1k. Volatility is a thing. You just don't know, and the timing is imo very risky right now. It's been a long time already since it's been very bullish. Coins that have really hard pumps usually have a period where the hype bursts out, and the price almost always follows. Therefore, just be careful when investing and make sure you don't get yourself screwed up by false hopes.

Nice explanation into this, it makes sense that we, investors/traders of bitcoins shouldn't worry about the altcoin's pump of price because it has only limited supply. Everything can change in a moment since this defi trend is definitely a bubble that will last for a short period of time and only a few people will get multiple profits if they play wisely.

I keep refreshing and YFI is growing, very unusual in my whole life of cryptocurrency. I hope this not give false hopes to those who get attracted when they see the value.

If that's what happened now, don't just get easier to invest in any of the coins that are presently pumped in the exchange, because it might be
a trap to any investors who will invest in it in the end, though I am not praying to lose their assets but just giving a few reminders in this field of industry.

People will be buying it as the price is going up, but once the hype is down and there is a decrease they will start selling. I don’t know much about this coin, but if you have a good knowledge about it and you think there is still chance for it to go up the more, then you can still give it a try.

Everything we do here is mostly about taking risk, if you see a coin or token and you think it will increase, then you should give it a try and see whether it works for you. If it at the end it doesn’t work out, you wouldn’t have to worry if you didn’t invest too much in it, you just keep going and looking for better projects.

Despite the fact that the YFI token as a whole has risen slightly in price to $ 34,429 and has even moved to 23rd position in the CoinMarketCap table, its price drop is more than 14 percent. Of course, this still means little, however, such a high price and such a small volume of tokens issued lead to sad assumptions about an artificially inflated price. I wouldn't be surprised if after a while the price of YFI turns out to be much lower than the price of Bitcoin.
