For not to receive complaints from people, try to lock the topic. Which means, they can still consider it good and valid if locked.

Your post is legit and helpful for those who create good content for the forum and who wants to have some merits. Very often, good posts simply goes under and does not receive not the right recognition. I myself sometimes have difficulties to distribute all my merits. In my opinion there should even be a subcategory in the forum where all merit donors can open a thread. I do not see any reason why this should be locked.

Im not against your idea, but I simply think he is only helping some other users to recognize thread that have merit giveaway or something that could earned merit. I know the topic is quite sensitive when it comes to merit and earning it shouldnt be discussed. He is just citing potential list which I think helpful to others. Anyway just my opinion, surely some have different view on this. By the way those topic are also interesting for some newbies.

You should add disclaimer that it's unlikely someone could earn merit he/she is shitposter

Pretty much sure none of the above mentioned thread OPs entertain shitposters.

the funny thing is he used the list above to apply for a merit giveaway. although there is nothing wrong with it, I just find it ironic.

I had a similar thread sometime back titled; List of Active Merit Giveaways threads. it did help alot of users get their very first merit and other merit they needed especially when their post were going unnoticed. I got lots of thanks back them so I know the thread served it purpose. I updated the thread for about 11 months straight before I slowly forgot about it especially as it was move to a board I don't visit that much.

I hope you can keep yours active to for a very long time without having other intentions like hurting for merit with this thread. One more thing the board you have this list on is kind of irrelevant since most of the giveaway threads are created here that means anyone visiting the board would already have a fair chance of seeing the thread. It been hosted on a separate board who had been the best idea.

While you have a point but there are members especially the low ranks who consider earning merit as a big achievement.
Ranking up gives an opportunity for some, like joining in signature campaign or bounty campaign, so you can't discourage them from doing it.

Everyone has their purpose, we need to respect that and as long as they contribute to the forum, we don't have to doubt their purpose.

Somehow your right but there are newbies who's struggling to get a merit and some of them leave because they get a hard time to rank up and those links given by OP is indeed helpful since they could start to earn by participating on the threads provided and fill the requirements of the thread creator.

The rules and guidelines are quite simple;

• You can only submit link to 2 personal posts weekly.
• You can also submit 2 link per submission to post of other (different) users daily (not mandatory, but rewardable)
• Users caught cheating will be excluded from recieving this giveway privilege and might be detrusted plus left a neutral feedback of dishonesty.
• Although there's no rank barrier, accounts created after this thread was recently bumped (23/08/2020) will be restricted from participating to prevent users trying to cheat with alts.
• inactive (recently woke up) accounts are prohibited from participating in this giveway. (Eligible accounts must have been actively posting within last 1 month prior to link submission)

Note 1: The awarding of merit will be distributed throughout each month and not in just 1 or 2weeks assuming there's numerous applicants.
Note 2: Mostly posts made in english are eligible with exception to few.
Note 3: Starting threads (topics) on the alternative board just to profit from this giveway is highly frownd at although newly created informative (quality) replies are welcomed.
PS: Smerit rewards might be awarded to the post of submission but earned smerit will be awarded to the initial post and not post of link submission.

- Applicants have to be good posters to win contest.
- Good posters mean: having good posts in history, and post quality should have average good level. You can not make 100 shit posts and try to make one to five fake good posts and apply here.

What do you mean by "meaning posts"? Meaningful posts, right? Look, not all posts are meaningful, some are helpful and others may be just informative posts. I understand what you are trying to do, you probably want to tell him that threads for merit giveaway are not good to educate newbies, don't you? But he didn't create a thread for merit giveaway, he only shared the information. Also, I think creating a thread for merit giveaway isn't prohibited and violates the forum rules, but it is not recommended if you only hold small numbers of merits. So, there is no problem with ImThour's thread above!

This should be bumped for newbies every now and then, I hope OP regularly update this thread so newbies can get merit so they can't be discouraged in continuing in this forum. Good job for making thread to connect all the dots.

That is not necessary but I am not against that. Bumping this thread that contains links to different threads of merit giveaways will help newbies to easily see it. But for me it's not necessary for everyday bumps because not every newbie are looking for ways to earn merit. And this is not the priority of this board.

Yes, exactly. I've seen different merit giveaway threads lately and having them compiled this way is helpful for newbies and other qualified ranks to know where they could get merits for the merit-worthy posts. It's like a one-stop-shop for those looking for merits which is helpful. Just like others, I don't see any reason why OP should lock this thread.
