After joining the Bitcointalk forum, a Beginner faces many problems. In order to solve those problems, forum members have created different types of [GUIDE] at different times. And those [GUIDE] are slowly getting lost due to not updating or bumping regularly. So I tried to collect some important [GUIDE] on the same page. There are some threads like this one. I am going to give you a list of listing threads.  Cheesy
Found him: List of useful Threads! (welovedcrypto)

Search list
A hidden feature that was disclosed by theymos. If you need to search for specific thing in a thread (that you already know and is currently visiting on that), you can use the Search box at the top right corner. Searching process will be done and data is only restricted to that specific thread.
Just go into the thread and use the search bar. Or you can use google to do it which is often more accurate.
About searching, I have a tip for you:
  • If you know username of one user, and want to find one of his threads but don't remember keywords for his thread title/ contents, you can visit the hidden page: https://bitcointalk.org/gettopics.php?user=2614133 (replace userid). When you see a list of thread, you can easier find what you are looking for.

Actually guide like these are very common already, but of course indeed this is very helpful. This is an index and compiling post that are helpful and has quality content are always welcome here.

Most of the post on the index are well familiar to us, and OP seems to find it all. Congrats, continue sharing but make sure to update this and dont leave your thread hanging. Some usually abandon their post after being posted. Be responsible on your thread mate, keep it up.

Nice compilation OP, did you use the search button to look for this post? I somehow having hard time to use the search button especially if it related to specific search but if I will do generic it will come up too many post including the replies and of that certain thread and will take timw for me for the thread that I am certainly looking in this forum. Somehow, google searcg engine is way better than the search button if this forum I guess.

One of the guides listed in the OP verses on the topic of how to use the forum search function: [Tips] Guide for forum search. Further down, within that guide, it shows how to improve Google search accuracy.
One thing that the referenced guide does not state is that it is important to narrow down the timeframe when using the advanced search feature on the forum, especially if the term is rather popular or generic.

For example, if you search for the term "merits", the search results will display entries from 2013 backwards (entries that do not relate to the Merits we’ve got in mind now). But if you cap the Message Age to say 30 days, you’ll get results even for today’s entries. Results are delimited to 5 pages, so you need to narrow down on boards, keywords and timeframe.

Great point, DdmrDdmr. I would edit my thread with a note on it. I rarely use forum search like you provided so I learn one more point from you. and did not notice such details (5 delimited pages) Cheesy
I'd prefer to use hidden pages to search (mostly search for topic titles, positions, some log pages).

@OP, please add my [Guide] Searching effectively

I see your intention to build up as every big compilation thread, I recommend you to categorise those threads like what @Ratimov does in [HUGE LIST] Useful Crypto Links !!!. Doing this will do take lot of your time (@Ratimov is extremely patient with his big list).  Cheesy

In short, you need some main components:
  • Table of contents
  • Categorisations
  • Anchors
  • Helpful threads

If you want, you can add my topic:

Make sure to avoid wasting BTC for too high fees – step by step guide (Electrum)

It's already included in the list of LoyceV but since your list is about guides for newbies, it would be a good idea to include it. Saving fees isn't very difficult at least when users start avoiding centralized exchanges for frequent transactions and using Electrum instead.

Thank you for the good list of threads that may help every beginner of this forum. They will be benefited for every thread you have given, we all know that some members here don't have a habit of using the search engine to search the topics they want to know, this list will be very helpful for them to get those important topics that may help them as amber of this forum. The rules of the forum are the most important thing for all the beginners to read first before anything else.

Thank you for this kind of long guide and it tools a look time before I read all of those on the list. It seems I already read just four items on that list and I'm not a good member yet.

You really takes a lot of effort to gather all of this information. Of course I will give my effort on this too.

If I created some guide too I hope you will add this on the list.

If ever I felt lazy searching for good threads from a certain member and forget the thread title so what I did is search the member and go to profile then show the last topic created by this person and then next and next until you will be able to find the thread you are looking for. Your tip also work since I also did it.
You can also change the userid.

It is more convenient and save your time to load pages if the user you are aiming at has too many topics. You have to load images, text of their topics. To help you better understand potential inconvenience, you can visit the post history page of Ratimov -- who is a topic-productive and his topics have too many images.  Cheesy

With my tip, you can have a list of their topics by default. You can be able to narrow down the list by specific board (use &board=boardid at the end).

If one user uses good topic title that represents what the topic discusses about, it is enough to look at topic title when you are in searching.

Well, I'm glad I mentioned about it and If I did not I think I wouldn't know about it if you haven't shared it here I wouldn't know about it and other people who don't know about it too. This will lessen time searching for threads you forgot the thread title. Thanks for sharing.

That's a plenty of readings but newbies need to deal with it because it is important to know the rules and guidelines here in our forum.

I know that most of the newbies are lazy enough to read those long topics but I guarantee you that it will help you a lot.

Hoping that more topics like this will be posted here in this forum, a compilation so that it is not hard for us to look and seek for a specific rules that we need to know.
