Politicians in developed countries can support it.  Because if they accept Bitcoin in their country, it will not have a big impact on their country's economy. Because the technology of developed countries is much better.  They can easily control Bitcoin.  However, this task will be very difficult for underdeveloped countries.  Although we sincerely believe that one day the whole world will welcome Bitcoin.  Then Bitcoin will prevail as a digital currency.  Now there will come a time when no one can buy anything without cash, no one can buy anything without digital currency like Bitcoin.  And the politicians who understand this are supporting Bitcoin.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Well, if they don't find solutions to the flaws of the current monetary system then they might have to replace the old with new emerging industry such as Cryptocurrency and blockchain. I think in the future, we will be seeing more politicians supporting even US congress showed signs of adoption. Rumors say, xrp could be a potential candidate to replace dollar but that's still rumors.

Believe me, the government will eventually shift from the current monetary system to one powered by Blockchain technology. Whenever it'll be XRP or a privately-owned Blockchain network, it's yet to be seen. The recent interest in crypto/Blockchain technology, tell us that government figures or politicians will support Bitcoin without thinking it twice. These entities won't publicly disclose that they're loyal supporters of Bitcoin. But behind the scenes, they have been relying on Bitcoin as a store of value. It's said that the government figures in Venezuela and North Korea are using Bitcoin to avoid sanctions imposed by the US. It's no wonder, since Bitcoin is decentralized and outside the scope of third parties. I believe that the more politicians support Bitcoin, the better it'll be for its adoption in the mainstream world.

Nonetheless, we're still living in a period of uncertainty. Bitcoin is still starting to blossom despite being on the scene for almost 12 years now. We're going to have to wait and see how everything unfolds as governments devise new regulations for the crypto/Blockchain industry. Considering that Bitcoin is still in a regulatory grey area, it's the wild west out there in crypto land. Just my thoughts Grin

But as of now i haven't heard any of our politicians here in my country supporting bitcoin. Some of them may have open up about it but none make it seriously an on topic. We'll just hoping that someday or one of these days due to pandemic this politicians of our may consider the possible significant of bitcoin in our economic growth.

I think it wont be long for the Government to embrace and gives bitcoin a total trust and adoption in some countries. The widespread usage of bitcoin anywhere in the world will make the leaders of the country realize that they must go with the trend in the market to also gain profits that can absolutely help restoring the economy. I know some politicians here in my country who supported bitcoin and have huge amount of this digital currency. So, I guess its just a matter of proper understanding the digital currency with the whole Government before adopting it.

We'll just hoping that someday or one of these days due to pandemic this politicians of our may consider the possible significant of bitcoin in our economic growth.

Most politicians don't want to publicly disclose their support for Bitcoin, because it'll do more harm than good to the current monetary system. After all, governments want to stay in power by controlling the economy. Seeing a politician or government figure supporting Bitcoin, is a rarity these days. Rest assured that governments friendly towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in general, will impose heavy-handed regulations in order to minimize fraud in the industry as much as possible. Bitcoin will be legalized but you won't be able to do whatever you want (legally speaking). This is good because it'll contribute towards the growth of the industry in the mainstream world.

Nonetheless, it's evident that most politicians will be against Bitcoin since it poses a threat to Banks. Those who support it will be the minority having no say in Bitcoin's future stance in the mainstream world. As long as the cryptocurrency remains decentralized, it'll be able to remain resilient against government interference. Sooner or later, mainstream governments will recognize it's too late to take Bitcoin down. As a result, Bitcoin will survive alongside Fiat for many generations. Support or no support, Bitcoin will be here to stay. Just my thoughts Grin

This is a very interesting thread as it touches the core factor of bitcoin's mass adoption in the mainstream world.
Of course, just like OP mentioned, there are politicians and government figures or officials who support bitcoin or the Blockchain technology, although many do this in secret and not publicly.
A government figure publicly supporting bitcoin is suggesting to the public that he has seen the numerous advantages and benefits of bitcoin over the current monetary system and should be made the legal tender. This invariably means that the government figure is saying that the government shouldn't have control over the masses' money. Trust me, this is very very rare.
I, however, believe that, going at this rate, bitcoin will eventually be adopted by everyone including government officials and politicians because that is the future of money.

Most government figures or politicians will be against Bitcoin because of the reasons mentioned earlier. But there will still be a minority who'll support it in secret. What matters is that the general public makes use of Bitcoin for their own benefit. As long as Bitcoin's adoption in the mainstream world grows, there should be nothing to worry about. Eventually, crypto will co-exist with Fiat in the mainstream world. With or without support from politicians, Bitcoin will be here to stay. That's thanks to its decentralized and open source nature.

Nonetheless, seeing a government figure or politician publicly supporting Bitcoin is a rarity these days. It's no secret that some government officials have been using Bitcoin to evade US sanctions. Venezuela is a good example of a country which uses Bitcoin for this. If the trend continues, all of the governments of the world will adopt Bitcoin for their own benefit. But they'll continue to promote Fiat more thoroughly in order to maintain control of the mainstream economy. Otherwise, they'll lose power over people's money. Just my opinion Smiley

The main reason is this technology's decentralization right? that is why big companies are iming for regulation and centralization which re more supported by the governments of many countries. For those who wants Bitcoin to be used in their daily lives, they would more likely want it to be decentralized in nature but centralization is the only way in order for this to happen. While to those who are just aiming for investment purposes, either centralization and decentralization would be good, their main concern is the price of crypto to generate profit  Why did I bring this up? because this is more likely how government sees things. If people are against centralization they they will just prohibit its use. And since more people are not that concerned, there are countries wherein it is quite "neutral" wherein some private businesses are allowed to accept it as mode of payment, but at their own risk.

yes this topic is very good to discuss, the government should support this crypto currency. There are already many people who have benefited from the cryptocurrency, but I think there are reasons for the government not wanting to support cryptocurrencies for several reasons such as transactions that cannot be known who the user is, the price of cryptocurrencies that the government cannot control and various other reasons which makes the government have doubts about this cryptocurrency. I think if it is discussed more thoroughly there will definitely be a way out so that crypto currency can be used better so that all people on earth use crypto currency as a means of payment.

Which politicians support Bitcoin? Do you think world leaders will embrace crypto/Blockchain tech at its fullest? Or will they go against it? What impact will mainstream politics have in the future direction of Bitcoin? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

It is possible that our politicians will support bitcoin. Also I think world leaders embracing crypto will depend on the current situation of the country. There are still many things about cryptocurrency to discuss with. Maybe some government may go against it because they cannot interfere with cryptocurrency especially that there's no law about taxes on bitcoin. Having politicians who supports bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency may promote bitcoin and it is a great advantage to reach its peak.

What i say those high profile figure is just like a joke, have possess high level of hypocrisy. You can't determine the real one, there's a big question mark on attitude towards bitcoin. They thought they could bring down Bitcoin. However, presently they're understanding Bitcoin is unstoppable, so they got the chance to join into the party.

Bitcoin would surely reach widespread adoption in the mainstream world, if politicians embrace it. There have been quite a few number of politicians expressing their support for Bitcoin and crypto in general. However, the majority is silent because they don't want to harm Fiat's adoption in the mainstream world. Governments want to remain in control no matter what. They'll try to minimize Bitcoin, while glorifying the traditional monetary system powered by central banks worldwide. With or without support from government figures, Bitcoin will be here to stay. That's thanks to its decentralized and open source nature. For the first time ever, money is separated from the state. People can finally enjoy true financial freedom without fear of third-party intervention.

Nonetheless, Bitcoin has attracted the masses because of the many benefits it provides relative to Fiat. Politicians know Bitcoin's true power, which has led them to use it as a tool to circumvent sanctions, among many other things. It's said that Venezuela's government officials have been using Bitcoin to protect themselves against recent US sanctions. With its decentralized nature, Bitcoin remains truly unstoppable. Expect to see more politicians or government officials supporting Bitcoin in the future, as its benefits are too hard to ignore. Just my thoughts Grin

- Can you tell people what specific names and actions these people take in favor of bitcoin? Because according to the events updated on this forum, very few governments or politicians openly support bitcoin, the government was mostly informing and feeling about the threat bitcoin is creating, the biggest and most recently updated support is organizations such as Tesla. Bitcoin is a mutant that the government cannot strictly control, so asking for a vote of support from the government is very difficult, most of the bitcoin community is only operating anonymously and avoid the review from government
