You have our full condolences but to be very true this wasn't really a fault of centralized or decentralised economy. This was purely due to pandemic. Even the cryptocurrency market would have suffered if it was a mainstream market for every transaction. Everything ends up at one thing and that is consumers if there are no consumers for the goods/Service that is produced the whole Economy is at halt even if the Economy is decentralised. crypto or fiat are merely the medium of those transactions in the economy.

I am pretty sorry to say but it's not fiat that failed you it was the pandemic which failed you. More power and support to you!

Truly sorry OP. I feel sad for those who lost their jobs during this pandemic as it makes things harder than they already are. Given the current situation, I guess you can say that going digital currency should be the way to go now. The world is now trying to limit contact, like here in my country contactless payments are being implemented so you would think its time for crypto to shine but personally, we are all still heavily reliant on fiat.

Truthfully, I haven’t been giving much attention to crypto after the hype last 2018, I even went inactive in this forum - only popping in from time to time. Life has gotten me busy but being stuck at home has allowed me dive back in here.

I don’t see it as a battle between centralized vs. decentralized assets. To be honest when lockdown was announced, I opted to keep some cash on hand in case shit hits the fan. In the middle of a crisis, I still think that fiat is essential. What we are experiencing right now is the impact of this pandemic on our economy and the effect of how we are all poorly unprepared for a crisis like this.

Traditional institutions plunged when the pandemic hit and have been struggling for the better part of this year, that being said, I know Bitcoin can be used as hedge against the constant devaluing fiat currencies, but mind you, Bitcoin is also a speculative asset that is still far from being stable, do not consider relying solely on Bitcoins or crypto, look to other assets, the stock market for example, gold is another good option, Gold is pretty stable and is a 'safe haven asset'.

Many people have also switched to self employment, either through providing a service or establishing a small scale business, and some governments are supporting such micro businesses to boost their economy, my point is simply that, surviving only on cryptocurrencies is risk in itself, in the long run, it's a shrewd investment plan, but short term plunges and Fud can be cataclysmic for someone with no other source of income or business.

You are not alone bro, there are many having same experience like you. My friends and my sister should follow the rule to work from home but their salary cut off when do WFH and finally losing their job.
This pandemic makes our life tougher and unfortunately, we don't know when will over.
I don't think this is a battle between centralized and decentralized, people who know about decentralized (cryptocurrency) especially about this forum still earn money from campaign or bounty, that's it.

Yes, everything is not stable now because of the pandemic. But we have to search for a job, whether offline or online, because we need money to buy our daily needs. It is hard situations, and I am sure all people get the effect, but that doesn't mean we need to give up because many people still struggle to survive.

I am still trying to make money from crypto, and I don't know why, but I feel that my way of making money is online. That is why I am still trying to search for many ways to make money. But I never think about centralized and decentralized battles because that is far from my expectations, and it's too complicated to think for me. Before the pandemic starts, I have a small business and because of the quarantine this temporary close and this is not good news to me because it affects my whole monthly income also I'm the one paying the bills on our house, this is a big struggle after that because I have an internet why not focusing my self and to make a trade and investment with the bitcoin, this is risky but I just used the small amount I left on my trading account which is binance, also I use gambling platform, I don't want to say it to be specific because Im not promoting them, but most of the time I play their crash game and gives me a lot of help to my additional funds. Even my business is close still there is a new opportunity for me.

I'm sorry with that experience and you're not alone with this pandemic effect. Many have lost their entire jobs and businesses that's been running for years and those people who have been working hard as an employee for years were turned into shatter.

You just said that businesses are affected due to the pandemic and there are issues with supply chains. Then why did you draw the conclusion that fiat has failed you? Fiat didn't fail you, pandemic failed all of us! A lot of people have lost their jobs because markets are closed. It has nothing to do with fiat and cryptos.

For me, I think fiat will still become more useful during this pandemic, it takes a lot of time for a cryptocurrency to become adopted and be used in a normal transactions. In just a simple buying of groceries, it is really hard and complex to pay with cryptocurrency especially that supermarkets and most of the businesses are not knowledgeable about that new method of transactions. Amidst the crisis that we are experiencing, people really prefers to have cash than digital money especially that poor people don't have any device to access their crypto wallet.

It is evident that USD is more widely used by most people in the world, while new digital currencies such as PayPal also support the existence of USD. Very sad to hear you lost your job. Unfortunately, During this pandemic many people lost their job and have no income any more for their living. Here the best recommendation for these people can be to try apply for a job that allows them to work from home like the remote job for the companies. However, if you check the podcasts from successful businessmen, they usually recommend people to run their own business instead of working for other people. During this pandemic it's the best chance for you to start some research about a profitable business idea. Maybe creating web applications, smart contract developing, etc...

Just don't panic, every change can bring something good. Changing jobs is a common occurrence, with or without the pandemic. of course, we now have an increased number of surplus jobs because the pandemic changing many priorities.
The basic rule is not to look too far into the past and turn to new possibilities. ability to learning and acquiring new skills is probably the most important characteristic nowadays.

I'm really sorry you have to go through this. My family is also affected when there was full lockdown here, we have a shop and it was totally closed for months. We had to use our savings for daily uses, foods etc. The people below poverty line, I can't imagine what they had to go through! This pandemic indeed ruined many lives and influenced everyone. The worst thing about other people though is that most of them don't have any jobs to go to so they are forced to do things that they usually don't do for example doing online selling like my mutual friend. Some are even introduced to this new way of investing, if you know, IWE which I am not familiar with and how they earn is somehow fishy to me.

People invest their money, wait for a month, or how much they wanted to earn since if you wait a full month you could get three times that money you've invested. My friend's girlfriend is getting some cashouts there, anyone from the Philippines that could explain this to me? I am not saying that it is a scam but I just wanted to know how it works or where their money is going and coming from. A lot of people are investing there now since it is an easy way to earn money especially that they needed it this pandemic.

It's pretty normal this time of pandemic to loss the job (some says they lost their job but the reality is their working days are just paused).
We need to have physical distancing that's why almost all of the works has been paused.
Those that are just continuing are those home-based jobs as they don't require to be physically present on the site.
Construction sites has been paused also, restaurants, but some are opened with social distancing protocol being observed.

For me it's fine to close them as long as the governent will finance the food that every houses needed.
We need to compromise at the first place to stop the spread of the virus.

This is first in history in my country for the government to pronounce lockdown because of virus that is tororising the people all over the state. Many people lost their job during the pandemic and many was killed by the corona virus in the country.

 Hunger nearly finish me during the lockdown. I invested all my money for business hoping for more profit that will reach me and my family to enjoy but the next thing we heard from the government is lockdown because of the covid-19  that is spreading all over the world.

I've supported lockdown when it's only for two weeks and not for months! The idea of shutting down the entire economy just because of a plague that only dangerous for a minuscule percentage of people is insane. IMO we should push the government to open the economy so the effect won't harm the majority of people.

My business has been closed since March and I feel bad for my employee.
