Here in India, lockdown was in place for almost two months, before the government removed it in several phases. But now the cases are increasing once again (partly due to the onset of winter season) and there are rumors that the government may consider implementing it once again. The businesses are slowly recovering from the earlier lockdown. Another such measure may result in their bankruptcy.

Hopefully, the lockdown policy in India will not be implemented again because it is really burdensome for the country's economy. Not only died because of Covid, but deaths due to hunger will also increase. Like the news I heard, the first lockdown by the Indian government was very chaotic. I don't know what the details are, but many people violate this government policy so that the government has to implement a policy of hitting its citizens to obey.

In fact, my country has not implemented a lockdown, not because of a few cases of infection but because the state is unable to cover the basic needs of its people. All the small business as well as any business be it small or big were forced to shut down without any rehabilitation plans on when to resume and anyone who made money during this period is online merchants and it is impossible for everyone to take advantage of this process if you are not having internet connection or not having the knowledge of online merchants.

Yeah, small businesses have no way but to shut down. Operating comsumed owners thousand of dollar which they can not afford. Without profit, no one can survived such situation.

However, as you say, if you know how to use online technologies in your business, you can somehow change the circumstance. If you need fiat money try some online freelance sites where you can earn some money for living, as for me I've learned trading crypto and doing ok so far, not worry too much about the job.

The thing is, a lot of people who lost their jobs during the pandemia are looking for jobs online now and a lot of them joined services like upwork or clickworker, what caused a crash in the hourly rates. I use upwork to give some work away from time to time and I noticed that since March the hourly rates are decreasing steadily and competition is increasing. For example, before the crisis I had to pay up to $20/hr (normally between $13-15) for some programming tasks. Two weeks ago, when I offered my last job, someone very experienced offered the work for $9.15. Never before I noticed such low rates.

It is such a shame for those that worked really hard in order to establish a good reputation in those websites and now they have to charge even less than half of what they used to charge, but that is simply the way the economy works, if they do not want to be subject to this then they need to find their own clients away from the platform, that way even if a newcomer tries to steal your client it is going to be way more difficult as it is going to be impossible for them to tell if this newcomer is any good unlike what happens in these platforms which display the experience and all the jobs that they took in the past.

I had 3 different business to run with at least 10 employees each , i was travelling overseas  looking for networking opportunity to get my business expanded since january and get locked down in foreign country for a couple weeks which causing my business completely abandoned back in February to April.
Things went really bad when I'm back home ,nothing i can save but a running debt!
I bet a lot of small business like me having similar situation, depressed to the death as can't afford to pay those running debts everywhere.
That's my short story though. My life really fucked up now.

Actually many people lost their job in this pandemic. Even my father lost his job. I was doing bounty and various contest to earn my pocket money now I am working more to earn some more money. Much small business wiped out as you said but some people still manage to earn a good amount of money by overcharging in various sectors in my country. Some people just take advantage of every kind of situation.

The people you mentioned who take advantage of such situations are mostly business owners and employers because they know how easy is it to hire the same skilled employee for cheaper for which they had to pay higher. earlier The revenue for the company is unchanged or maybe declined slightly but the way they are treating their employees is horrible, not just cutting their salary but delaying them and asking them to work extra hours without any overtime bonus.

One thing everyone must learn from these tough times is that times will change maybe in another year but the way your company/employer treated you in your bad time must never be forgotten and never work for such a company who doesn't respect your time, efforts and skills when you need them the most.

Anxiety and poor government regulation have revealed how many private businesses have lost money and had to sell their homes in recent months. I've supported lockdown when it's only for two weeks and not for months! The idea of shutting down the entire economy just because of a plague that only dangerous for a minuscule percentage of people is insane. Yes Lockdown has completely paralyzed the human economy, business and human life. In almost all countries, it has become very difficult to go back to the way it was.  Due to low import-export, employees are not able to pay their salaries properly and there are many more companies that have closed down due to this lockdown.
