This one hits close to home because most business does not consider integrating crypto transaction in their payment system. In my country, the most popular transaction system is through Paypal like apps. I can't blame this businesses though because they risk losing profit with the current volatility of the market. If ever the time comes that they can integrate this kind of transaction especially small businesses is a revolutionary milestone for cryptocurrency.

I believe that major retailers will accept cryptocurrency payments one day. But we have to be a little patient until it comes true,
if you really want to spend your crypto by buying goods. Why not convert it to fiat on the exchanges you normally use to cash out.
I also always exchange my crypto into USD, after that I use it to buy some goods at the market place.

Don't get hasty to let cryptocurrency be adapted eventually after it was being implemented. Beside you should be thankful that you should be here because you had the advantage over other who are not here and learning about cryptocurrency.

Anyway, the best thing that one could happen believing in cryptocurrency is the knowledge about things that should be avoided, the way that a crypto user should behave, learning to get away from scams and fraud activities.

That is something that every people here are grateful for because even if we are in the pandemic, we can still have a way to make money while other people struggle to find a new job. We don't have to use bitcoin to shop in the local store or online store if we can not find that store. It is better to save our bitcoin and only sell the bitcoin if we need money. And if you can have another way to make money from real life, then you can save your bitcoin for the long term and only sell if the bitcoin price can surge to the high price.

There are many crypto shop in my area where you can buy anything with your crypto in the shop. Many people in my country it hard for them to hold fiat money to look for where shop is to buy goods with fiat money because they are now use to crypto to do any kind of transaction they found their self in the country.
I think those people finding it difficult to make use of cryptocurrency to pay for their goods they bought in a shop or restaurant are those country just legalized crypto in the place. Such people will find it difficult to get a place where they can buy goods with their coin.

Crypto is not yet supported in many parts of the world in that case there will be problems in providing the shops. I think you can use PayPal to spend crypto and also you can easily use paper money by converting cryptocurrency into dollars. Paper coins are common everywhere. And the easiest way to break the crypto and convert it to fiat if Fiat is able to use the currency not only for shops but also for other purposes then crypto will not be useless. Buyers and sellers will benefit from both exchanges.

Despite the fact that in some countries bitcoin remains unrecognized, I think that no one has any problems with cashing it in fiat.
Hence, its value does not disappear. If bitcoin can be exchanged and used as money in the future, how can you call it useless?
Another important point is the very danger of cryptocurrency exchange. To avoid mistakes, you must have some knowledge in this area. There are exchangers, that is, services for exchanging and buying digital coins. You need to carefully study the service from which you want to exchange cryptocurrency.
Regarding the ubiquitous adoption of bitcoin payments, I think that because the cryptocurrency issue remains unresolved, many sellers are wary of using bitcoin as payment.

If bitcoin can be exchanged and used as money in the future
Bitcoin is used as money already cause any item that is accepted as payment for goods and services is called money. That's what the OP doesn't understand before saying Bitcoin is useless and if it was indeed useless as the OP thought why would the institutions see it as a threat.
I think the OP is one of those that don't understand the concept of Bitcoin.

Show me shops where i can spend crypto ...

crypto is useless...

type "buy with bitcoin" on google search and you will not find any major retailer using bitcoin or other cryptos

So what's the point of crypto if i can't use it to buy stuff ?

What do you mean by "major retailer"?Amazon,eBay and Walmart?
Well, the discussion about why the major tech giants like Amazon and eBay aren't accepting crypto is going to continue forever.
We actually dont need the giant online stores to accept Bitcoin as payment since we can easily use Bitcoin to buy gift card online or shop with crypto credit card on the giant online stores(Amazon, ebay, walmart etc). However, things is changing positively for crypto since exchange site like Kraken got approval by the government for seamlessly payment between crypto and national currencies this year.

First of all you can google all the places that accepts bitcoin, there are thousands of them online and there are thousands fo them that accept it directly and only in Japan there are 260k+ places that accepts a gift card that you can fill with bitcoin.

Moreover, we are talking about half a million and more places that you can spend bitcoin on which is a good start in the first 10 years, the next ten years will be even bigger, we are going to definitely reach to over a million places but we will also aim at places like amazon, steam, facebook and google which would make the biggest change. Obviously this is going to take sometime but this is also not the only way you could use bitcoin, it could look "useless" to you but the price is over $11k and that means people are willing to bet on it and consider it not useless.

Crypto is something you can buy any were because it has be legalized unlike before some years back it was very difficult to locate or to have access to cryptocurrency especially bitcoin even with happen of Google search as op stated above, cryptocurrency can be purchase through different sites even applications.

Emphasising on how to spend cryptocurrency, it's very simple because currently cryptocurrency especially Btc can be use to purchase everything,  provided that the products is available in market, even sometimes people values Btc more than fiat currency due to its transactions with Btc  and btc differs than fiat currencies.
Based on your statement saying that cryptocurrency is useless or worthless, no i totally disagreed with op, because crypto has numerous functions which other currencies can't operates in such manner, I will advice op before using language that will generate dust or that will be complicated to community try to make proper research.

Yep, all of those businesses accept bitcoin (as far as I know), and I'm sure there are a lot more.

But even if there were no businesses that accepted bitcoin, that doesn't mean that it couldn't have value.  You can't spend gold doubloons or rare comic books at your local retailer, but those things can be converted to large amounts of fiat--so in other words, bitcoin is an investment and not just a currency.  In fact I've always thought of it more as an investment than a currency.  I would much rather spend the dollar bills in my pocket than bitcoin when I'm buying groceries.

In any event, bitcoin is not useless.  You can spend it; it's an investment; and it's somewhat of a store of value as well.  I'd also point out that useless things don't tend to be very popular, and you kind of have to admit that bitcoin is pretty damn popular and has been for years now.

OP is talking like the only purpose of Bitcoin is to be a currency. Tongue

First  user from country A has to buy BTC ,easiest way to buy btc is via p2p trading platforms ...as it's cheap ... he pays +3% - 5% to buy 10000 usd

Moving btc from wallet A to wallet B  is cheap

Now user B has to exchange it to fiat ...it cost him around +3% - 5% trader fee + a small bank fee

I don't know why you insist on using expensive exchanges when there  are much cheaper options around.

Even though I'm not using Coinbase anymore their fee for EU citizens is 1.49% and fiat bank transfers are free of charge.

Yeah ...now add the income tax 10% for trading crypto no matter if you make profit or not  on centralized exchanges...that's how it is in my country ,it turns your 1.49% in to 11.49%

Most of the world don't have something like that. Income tax as its name suggests is applied only when you have income.

You are sending Bitcoin to someone else like as a gift  or a payment so you exchange your fiat money for Bitcoin and then send it away. How are you profiting from such transaction?
I'd understand if the person receiving your coins were to pay, but that's completely normal. If you sent them fiat money they'd have to pay income tax as well.

Show me shops where i can spend crypto ...

crypto is useless...

type "buy with bitcoin" on google search and you will not find any major retailer using bitcoin or other cryptos

So what's the point of crypto if i can't use it to buy stuff ?

Go to Bitrefill.com. There you can buy balance and coupons for shops like Amazon, Apple Store, Netflix, IKEA, Playstation and many more (depends also on the country you come from). There are so many different companies /shops listed in my country that I could basically make all my important purchases only through Bitcoin. Bitrefill has been on the market for years and can therefore be considered very serious. So far I have made only good experiences.

Also compare transfer fees

Let's say i want to transfer money from country A to country B .... Moneygram,Western Union is cheaper then Localcryptos or paxful or localbitcoins etc...
Are you kidding me? $11,380,970 worth of Bitcoin was sent today with just $2.75 which you and I know is impossible send just $100 with $2.75 using money Gram or Western Union but you mistaking if you judge BTC transaction fee through the charges on paxful or localbitcoin because every peer to peer exchange site charge some ridiculous fee. However, is not up to Wu/MG fee.

No  no no sweetie (hopping your a girl and not some fat guy Smiley ) ...your math is wrong...

So cost to send 10k around 10%

User A has to send 11000 USD so that user B gets 10000 USD as fiat ... via crypto

Via moneygram

[snip]

Fee is 104.99 usd via debit card/credit card

Now i understand here you are making mistake cause p2p market price is always higher than actual market price and the exchange will also charge their own fee. Besides, the last time i checked no crypto exchange site charged the ridiculous amount you post and the lower fee are always 0.01% while the highest is 0.22% even for crypto to fiat currency.
One thing about cryptocurrency is that if you are not knowledgable enough you spending some unreasonable fee even as transaction fee either. Which exchange charge you the 3% - 5%?

But if you buy BTC and send it to somone that's taxable and that's your problem? A rather dumb and rare law if you ask me.

In most countries only your income is taxable not the action to buy or sell Bitcoin, because what if you sell at a loss? What if you just buy and sell at the same price because you made up your mind and decided not to get involved?

Mentioning your strange local laws when talking about usefulness of Bitcoin around the world is out of place. In the same way a Chinese citizen could say that Bitcoin is useless because he can't trade or take it to a store. The rest of the world will respond just like you did: not my problem.

It's not strange....just logical

-----------------------------------------------------------

USER A tells USER B : Hey i want to send you 100 usd birthday gift .

USER A does not have cash but he has BTC ... he sells his BTC to get FIAT ( it's USER A problem if he gets taxed or not)

USER A Sends via tranfer or gives in hand 100 usd gift to USER B

Gifts are not taxed here...you can give me a Ferrari as gift ,how is my problem how you buy the Ferrari ?

If you occupy a public office or work for the government here ,sending Ferrari's as gifts that is a problem here(bribe etc) ...not allowed.

But private person to private person no problem, send gifts as many as you want  Grin i will gladly accept them.

There are two sides of the medal. User A will be in trouble for selling $200k BTC unless he finds a car dealer who accepts cryptocurrencies as a payment method. If both users live in the same country, the headache will less but the conditions change if the user A ships the Ferrari to another country. Customs tax and other expenses will grow and he can't even drive the Ferrari for 1 month if there are gaps in documentation. So finding the app/service which accepts the BTC will not let both users bother with the mentioned problems.

Ah..so what are you trying to say is that its sender's responsibility whether he need to pay tax or not based on the regulations there of course. I guess pixie85 thought that the act of selling/buying btc is the one which is taxable. Maybe both of you are just having a misunderstanding Smiley.

Hmm, is that all? What if I gave my government employee friend but not asking for any favors, is it still considered bribery?

Go to Bitrefill. You can find gift cards for almost all the stores, and these cards can be purchased using BTC, ETH or other cryptocurrencies. You can use these gift cards to make payments, when you visit Starbucks or Walmart next time. So don't claim that Bitcoin is useless for doing shopping. If you know how to use it, then you will be able to do shopping using BTC almost anywhere.
