For your information, the blending of ethanol at 20% has been made mandatory starting from April 1, 2026, instead of the original deadline of 2030. This change is expected to reduce fuel imports and emissions; however, it may also damage engines that aren't designed for such high levels of ethanol blending. As far as I know, only Honda India vehicles currently have engines capable of handling 20% ethanol blends. The current government appears aware of upcoming challenges and may leverage this situation to reduce fuel imports. If you think they will not seize this opportunity, you might be mistaken. Additionally, be prepared for the possibility of being required to use Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) tokens before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election in November this year. We may soon see a sudden ban on ₹500 paper notes, which could be followed by a mandatory transition to using the digital rupee for denominations of ₹500 and above.

I am not sure about the part that the government is deliberately trying to increase the demand just to sell induction, any rich individual owns that company like top 10 richest people in our country? I don't think so. But the government is not handling well, even if they could with right kind of orders to the gas suppliers but they failed in that part too.
But the situation can't keep continue like that, even if it happens for one more month, then I am sure it will affect the economy and almost take the jobs out related to the hospitality industry.
Situation is much better now. It is not just India, but a lot of other countries are going through the crisis as well. I would actually say India is handling the situation much effectively as there are multiple initiatives by the government to provide home deliveries for LPG cylinders to KYC-cleared users. I have even seen a WhatsApp bot which helps us in schedule the LPG delivery just within a couple of minutes and the prices on these portals remain the same. This has been a nightmare for those who purchase gas without proper documentation by spending a couple of extra bucks. These people are now either not getting the required supply or have to pay more money than expected. I think it will take months before the full trade resumes so there might be shortage in the coming weeks as well. It is always better to purchase what we need for at least 2 months and hold our stocks in case there is future surge.

The Natural Gas Pipeline Distribution Order, 2026 gives the Centre power to override local hurdles blocking piped gas rollout across India. → Housing societies & RWAs can no longer block pipeline laying → Cuts through bureaucratic delays, high fees & approval bottlenecks → Triggered by Strait of Hormuz blockage & Gulf LNG facility damage Govt is also ending the "Dual Fuel" era. If you have access to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), you must surrender your LPG cylinder.

I guess the sea routes were cleared for Indian ships so there should be no further delay in the deliveries. A slight delay is still expected as the demand is on a uprising trend as of now due to the limited supply. One good thing about LPG is that people can't simply buy multiple cylinders to stock them if the stocks run out in future. Stocking LPG is not allowed by the government and if caught can attract heavy penalties and even jail for some time. Only the agencies have permission to hold the stock for some time with proper paperwork. One of my friends has a Bharat gas agency so I know a few things about this market.
But my friend was severely hit by the gas shortage. The working capital kept on rising but his income was completely stopped for a week which made him incur losses for the current financial year and all his statements looked red now.
If your friend owns Bharat Gas agency can you ask him when are the new connections getting started ? I know that those having pipeline gas connection won't be able to register for new LPG connection. But what about those people who don't have either of them ? It would be great if you can ask him and post it here.

They are giving away a new connection if the locality has already shifted to PNG. All you need to see the yellow color pipeline infront of the houses. They are leaving the gas service provider name and contact number on most of the pipelines. I think Thinkgas is the main service provider in most cities of North India. There is a refundable deposit amount and a service charge for opting for a new connection. A monthly fee of INR 250 has to be paid if you use it, or not. Above that, a metered reading amount on the usage of the gas has to be paid. As per my understanding, there is zero subsidy applicable when you are using PNG.

So this shows that they are not accepting new LPG connections as of now and only accepting PNG connections. Even I had enquired about new LPG connections and they mentioned that they will start it only after mid of April. LPG crisis has calmed down a little for now as we are seeing regular cylinder deliveries, thanks to the new LPG tankers arrivals and boost in production. We might be able to stabilize the situation completely by next 2 months I believe.

The crisis will not end unless the war ends, which I doubt will end soon. It has been 31 days now, and there are zero signs that Israel is going to stop bombing Iran with the US. The Indian government is again utilizing the crisis scenario to force the citizens into PNG and 20% Ethanol blending. Just like they promoted digital transactions during the time of COVID. I am not against the government policies, but I do not like the way this government forcefully implements its policies by utilizing a crisis situation. PNG is costlier than LPG, but the government and its IT cell are promoting that it is cheaper, which makes me angry, as it is misinformation that they themselves are spreading.

They do that with no shame because if someone asks questions about that they will simply refuse to make any comment regarding it. What makes me angry is even if the whole country is struggling due to LPG and fuel why they can't stop exporting like Reliance is still exporting if I am not wrong but that should be stopped first.

PNG is costlier than LPG ? That's the first time I am seeing someone saying that. Usually people mention PNG to be cheaper than LPG. It's around 10% - 15% cheaper than LPG. Some people even mention saving around 200 - 300 rupees per month which breaks the above rate. Apart from the new connection price, if there's anything that you can show us to find out how PNG is costlier than LPG then it would be great to know.

It all depends on the usage, as if you are from a small household, then your usage of LPG will be either two or three cylinders in a year, which will fall under the subsidy slab. Whereas for PNG, you will have to pay a minimum of INR 250+GST every month, which is the minimum amount if you use it or not. You can do the calculation. But, if your usage is more than 6 or more cylinders in a year, then PNG is cheaper.

I don't know how many of you saw this thread, Indian street food: why does it have to be so dirty?. So just letting you know about this Probably everyone has already been suggested by youtube lots of videos displaying indian dishes or indian street food being prepared by different chefs. The point in common among the videos is the lack of hygiene. Why does it have to be like that? Is it part of the culture? Don't people get diseased and die from bacteria by eating these dishes? Isn't anything like epidemic control agents to demand minimum hygiene from those workers? There are many people from India on this forum, so they might help bringing accurate answers on this matter.
I think we have discussed this already a few times and this is another opportunity so you can add here or in the thread I mentioned if you have anything to say about this. Being a desi requires certain immunity and we grow that along while we grow up but this is not every street food in our country but I don't know why people buy from these when it is clearly not acceptable even for desi standards. Is this only because of the one got viral on social media and people want to try it?

^^ kuch time pehle Varanasi gaya tha. Wahan khacori walo ne gadar macha rakha hai, exactly same setup as first 2 pics. Hygiene ka panga toh hai yahan bada wala.
Last 2 pics looks like click bait for some media content. As far as things going viral, well sara algorithm ka chakkar hai. Some countries, community are favourite to get some stick and racism is alright against them, india falls into same category.

I have seen both the videos on social media and while the first one lacks hygiene the second one is gross. I can't even imagine someone eating this garbage. I mean, how can someone eat something that came from a fat black person's underarm. So gross man. I have stopped eating outside alltogether. It's very rare that I eat something out. We have to pay for something that's not even healthy. It's a loss-loss situation to be in. One which we should completely avoid.
