Just to show off and take a selfie with it, and to claim they have better device with apple compared to an Android. But those statements are invalid now because we have even better camera phones from Android in the last 3 or 4 years with better specs and designs and the only thing they are still holding is with their video clarty. And it is mostly due to the optimized software rather than a better device. The show-off era is over. As of now, the new mantra is security and updates. I have seen a 2007-era iPhone still working without any issues. That is what the price provides. Android has got an issue that it will only work for approximately 5 to 6 years without any issues. The camera is the best on iPhone, hands down, but only a handful of us will use the camera for that kind of quality. Apple ecosystem is another benefit that you can avail of if you are using an iPhone. But, due to cost and everything being chargeable, it stops Indian to be part of it. There are many benefits, but the problem is the cost which is why Indian's avoid iPhone.

In general, most of us use phones for sending messages and for calls. Some of us might be using it for being active on social media. I personally do use an 80k Android phone because I have experienced that costly phones from a good brand tend to last longer than an entry-level phone. I do play games on my phone, so I need a good processor, which I will not get on an entry-level phone. BTW.. Did you guys check the names in the FIR by the CBI in the Disha Salian murder case? It looks like a big scandal is in the making. To be honest, even I am an old time Android user and have been using it since IceCream Sandwich (Android 4). Right now my phone usage has dropped drastically and mostly use it for calls and notifications only. Still wonder why do Apple phones even exist but the thing is, it really provides a great experience. The show-off era is over. As of now, the new mantra is security and updates. The only reason why I think Apple devices are good is because of the buy back value they provide. You can easily get a good exchange rate which is hardly the case with Android phones.

~~ The fact is that the iPhone came out first, and then Android followed with Samsung phones. That is one reason Apple and Samsung are considered more trustworthy in the smartphone industry than the Chinese brand. I don't think buyback is the reason, because the Samsung Galaxy series does offer a good buyback rate. I feel it is the trust & reliability in these two brands that is why consumers have never stopped buying them.

Bhai idk about you guys but meri toh fhat jati hai price dekh kar lol. My phone budget is 10k at best and atm using some "techo spark" which was under 6k.
Did face some peer pressure here n there but my lower-middle-class mind still can't comprehend the concept of spending lakhs on just phone.
10K devices are too basics, setting this price at 20k might be good. I bought Iqoo which is a good midrange and complete all rounder. Possibly but I'm pretty much satisfied with lower end handset and if it was up to me then I'd have went back to Nokia 3315. @pawanjain yeah, I use it only for calls and to maintain some presence in family whatsapp group and use this forum other than that phone is just otp recieving device for me.

~ Right now my phone usage has dropped drastically and mostly use it for calls and notifications only. Still wonder why do Apple phones even exist but the thing is, it really provides a great experience. The user experience is the main reason everyone is willing to shell out more money for the i Phone. I am using iPhone 17 Pro Max, and if you are using other apple products then you find it useful. Once you start using them you never turn back to other brands simply because of the user experience. The only reason why I think Apple devices are good is because of the buy back value they provide. You can easily get a good exchange rate which is hardly the case with Android phones.
Yes, the resale value is also great, which is a massive advantage if you want to upgrade to the next new model. With an iPhone, you can get a solid return, unlike other brands where you often end up getting just a quarter of what you originally paid.

Now this turned into Android vs Iphone, anyway I am an Android user. I had an iPhone 6s back in the day but it was not that comfortable to me so I switched back to samsung again and then Chinese brands came and took over the market completely. As JSRAW I am not using the device much, some whatsapp and social media scrolling and everything is on my pc so having a highend is just and overkill and unnecessary spending.
BTW Iphone give better expereince because the brand force every app developer to create optimized version of their apps to stay in the appstore so it is not because of the better hardware, just software specs makes the difference.

Oh yeah, Samsung Galaxy Series smartphones are really top notch but then again one might argue whether to purchase it at such high prices or go for the iphones. At the end, it depends on individual preferences, for some the experience on iphone might be better while for the others, Android would be a better choice. P.S: Flipkart just announced it's Big Billion Day and has also created separate ads for the Samsung Galaxy and iphone devices on it's Youtube page. Sales starts October 9th.

I tend to use my phone for long duration without changing, like my last phone is running for half a decade now and make sure to be careful with it so that scratches and drops dont happen. Unless some major software changes come in that makes my phone useless or important applications stop working on that version of Android, I will not be buying a new one. The Indian market is not that rich that everyone can afford or need an Apple product, I prefer to be customizable and I prefer Android over Apple any day. Maybe in future Google will make this even harder but for now we are good.
Welcome back to the Indian section, @Clement Kaliyar, hope you have been doing well.

Although most of that purchasing power comes from EMIs that makes me more bullish as Indian's can now pay their EMIs without any issue. Yesterday was the day when iPhone 18 was available for sale in India. People waited for more than 12 hours to get that phone. Imagine the money these guys can afford to just buy a new car priced phone. Do not underestimate the Indian middle class they will do anything to be in the league of uber rich Indians.

Indian middle class is the backbone of every company in this world, there is no denial in that, but it happened due to the mindset shift. 30 or 40 years back the middle class focused on securing the future but the next generation keep constantly hearing the words called live at the moment so they went from saving money to spending money. If one can't buy an Iphone with full payment then they can't afford the Iphone that is the basic law of finance but EMIs allows them to buy that but that makes huge compromises in the long term.

That is you mindset! Indian's like me do not have that mindset. We need luxury and we need good education for our kids. Liquid money is an issue but it is something that can be taken care when EMIs are over. A 12 month EMI is best for me regardless of the interest as it solves my society status while living in a tier 1 city. What I wrote is what is the mindset of my freinds and collegues. Although it is not good for someone to achieve fire in short term but in long term they will. I hope you understand the term fire! BTW.. Did you know a lot of H1B visa users are leaving everything behind and coming back to India. Then again they are not finding jobs in India? Since you are very active on reddit you should know it. Indians like me are happy with whatever I am getting from this hell hole country as I am still sae, secured and not in a warzone.

India is highly diverse and I am not a Genz that might be the reason for the difference. Indians need luxury like life, but how many of them can afford it? EMI's enable the middle to access more thing but I wish they use it smartly for the needs not for every wants. I am happy too, I worked in other countries but then I moved back here because I don't feel like living at my home no matter how comfortable I lived in other place, India is unique and other land is the place where we can have the freedom. But lot of Indians are trying to get H1B visa and you can visit any US embassy and see how crowded the place is. People are leaving because they are either fired or intentionally held by their companies due to the new changes they have in their country. BTW, Indian households are the second richest in US surpassing the whites.

EMI's enable the middle to access more thing but I wish they use it smartly for the needs not for every wants. It is true that EMIs enable the middle class to access more things, but it becomes a trap in the end if you have multiple EMIs. There was a period where I had a car EMI, a health insurance EMI, housing loan and a personal loan. After all the payments, there wasn't enough money left from my salary, and I would often have to sell my assets if there were other emergencies. The main reason I got stuck was the car loan, which I had taken out on a three-year repayment plan with a monthly installment of around eighty thousand rupees. After a while, when I wanted to switch to a five-year plan, the procedure required by the bank was to settle the existing amount first and then take out a new loan. I am happy too, I worked in other countries but then I moved back here because I don't feel like living at my home no matter how comfortable I lived in other place, India is unique and other land is the place where we can have the freedom. If you are doing things that you do not necessarily do in your home town then you can call it freedom. But lot of Indians are trying to get H1B visa and you can visit any US embassy and see how crowded the place is. People are leaving because they are either fired or intentionally held by their companies due to the new changes they have in their country. BTW, Indian households are the second richest in US surpassing the whites. Indian households in the US are the richest and are not in the second position. The same goes for education, as around 80% of Indian Americans hold a bachelor's degree or higher education. Whites or other ethnic groups are not even close.

The way things are going in USA, H1B visa is in huge mess and trump regime already termed it as national security threat and won't be surprised if they try to target GCC next, especially the ones in India.
For individuals, restrictions on H1B is bad but in a long term this will help us because of existing brain drain issue.

One aspect of Apple iPhones that's often neglected is actually security. Android has several vulnerabilities, while Apple is pretty solid with its OS and ecosystem and how it has built it. I've played PUBG on android and iPhone both, and once you have played the game on iPhone, you will never want to switch back to android. Not just the graphics, the entire feel of the game, the smooth FPS and everything is beyond comparable. That said, though, I guess when we are comparing android and iphones then it's better to compare the same range. I played PubG on android that was about 25k INR (one plus) and we all know the prices of iphones .
