I do not recommend to trade alts with btc these days otherwise you will be just loosing your money. As BTC hitting its ATH, the prices of alts are dumping even if it is BNB or any other coin whichever was stable in the last months. Just trade BTC/USD only.

Once we are here in cryptocurrency business, expect the risk whether the price of bitcoin will go down or up.
Even the price of Bitcoin at the moment are kicking in the market while most of the altcoins are dumping their price. But for sure,
once the bitcoin value get down I am pretty sure as well the some of the altcoins will also pump their price temporarily,

You can trade alts but make sure that you will lower the allocation, most of the investors and trader switched into bitcoin and it is the reason why it is gaining momentum unlike the altcoins that doesn't have high volume in this current days. Risk management is important especially for those altcoin traders, by lowering your allocation; you can prevent huge losses that you may incur. Bitcoin is currently above $15,000 and there is a possibility that it will do a small consolidation and will break again the next resistance around $16,000. Most of the altcoins are still in consolidation but I like to commend the ETH because earlier this day, the price managed to breakout in the long consolidation and the price of the ETH is currently at $442 which for me is a good sign and I think it will also gain momentum in these following days.

I don’t mind trading shitcoins for BTC. But for promising alts like Ethereum, Stellar Lumens, etc., of course I wouldn’t convert them to Bitcoin for now since it is on a parabolic move. Because of this move, correction would be parabolic as well. Always better diversify your assets rather than just trading them all into Bitcoin, so that you will get less disappointment if the situation moves south.

i have a shitcoin here and i didnt trade them to alts or to btc because the value of them is still low , not just i love them but i dedicate time to get them on the past but by the way if thats your decision that was still okay because btc was valueable compare to shitcoins not only because of the current price of btc right now but valueable because it was a good quality of coin . on the altcoins there are many valueable altcoins and not all altcoins are falling . eth is one of that , its now trading at over 425 usd and thats a nice price compare to the last price of eth

Shitcoins meant to be wasted, nothing good will happen for those coins, let alone trade them, it simply worthless.
I consider stellar lumens won't achieve a higher price, look at the price chart, barely maintain its position at $0,1 since last year.
Better to stick with some famous altcoins since the price always tends to rise whenever bitcoin climb up.

why we should worry to trade altcoin meanwhile in market we found many cheap coins now. if we smart choosing altcoin that have low price and good fundamental , trading altcoin will give us huge profits. dont affraid with loss , it will always occur in market and we just need to manage it if suffering us.

As long as we can be careful to buy cheap altcoins and only select the coin that can increase, we will make a profit from the coin. But I am afraid that it will not be easy to analyze the coin because all coins in the market want to show the power to rise. Yeah I feel what OP say, I tried to trade btc/altcoin since two days ago when bitcoin trying to reach $15.000 and most of my trade just got a loss even I've lost half of the capital that I spend, it was horrible. And my stupidy continues to trade altcoin/usdt and I got the lost as well when I use some leverage. The altcoin price is really volatile now and its price movement can't be predicted.

I see on one side the altcoin price will follow bitcoin price movement but when bitcoin price up the altcoin price just down and when bitcoin down the altcoin price just down quickly. I use 1 hour time frame, you can see its movement price. I'm really angry because at the uptrend market I just got a huge loss, seem like I have to choose bitcoin only to trade and using high leverage.

I agree that trading BTC for anything else automatically means you're at a loss.

I can't emphasise enough the importance of this. I already know a few people who traded BTC to buy Alts and now all the Alts are doing very poorly and in fact these people are in a much greater loss than they even started with. Don't do the same mistake. Irrespective of how the market plays you should NEVER, ever exchange your BTC for alts no matter what alt it is. Take this advice and you'll do much better than the average person on here

I couldn't agree more. If you want to trade, try xxx/usd or xxx/usdt. They are better can give you more money in a decent time. Bitcoin is currently dominate the market with high volume and liquidity

However, if you decide to hold a coin, having some alts is not a bad idea though. There are many promising projects waiting to be pumped. For example: district0x has increased more than 300% recently. And there portfolio are convincing. Many coins absolutely follows the path of bitcoin. I believe we can trade alt/btc in the first quarter of 2021 where almost every coins will increase.

If you ask me trading Bitcoin for alts was never good idea and especially isn't now. Besides majority of altcoins are not worth attention, especially not for trading. Ethereum and Litecoin might be good as alternative for holding .

I do not agree to put all altcoins under the same basket as each other, that doesn't make sense at all considering the vast amount of coins we talk about when we generalize as "altcoins". We are talking about that scam coin that became 6573th biggest coin and has zero volume and not listed anywhere and is basically dead and worthless while we are talking about king of altcoins Ethereum, and they are all altcoins.

So, I agree that if you trade with alts that are bad you will probably lose money, but if we are talking about altcoins like ETH or BNB we are not really going to lose that much money. Would you make "more" profits with bitcoin? So far it looks like that, but we are comparing profits here and not losses, you could make profits with either of them but bitcoin could be more profitable that's it.

Yes, trading alts at this moment is risky as we cannot 100% predict what will happen next, as we know btc has a mind of its own. As it stands I can't even risk trading now as I have already lost some money, but for sure btc will surely retrace before any major move. Altacoins always follow suit after btc has finished pumping, so,  I will just watch the market waiting to see if I can see  some good entry positions for ETH and BNB, and some good alts.

maybe it is possible that the analysis you say can fulfill what is on the minds of everyone who is involved in crypto. but as long as the trading is profitable and can be accounted for, I think there is no problem with what to trade using, because what is needed is profit or if you lose it can be at least small. whatever the exchange is fine and fine.

Although the advice everywhere is to avoid all altcoins when bitcoin is mooning, there still some alts that shouldn't be avoided totally as they tend to move along with bitcoin mostly when that astonishing spikes in price is happening coins like ethereum are perfect example as we are currently observing. Ethereum increase in price though has alot to do with it's 2.0 upgrade that the contract for staking has been deployed.

Still if you do understand how the market react then your chances of profiting from both market becomes certain. Alts react late when bitcoin moon which is why it's advisable to avoid them but if you can trade them in fiats or probably other alts you can make profit but trading them against bitcoin is suicided unless you're shorting. You can also take advantage of margin trading and short them which could probably give you huge returns while you also profit from the bitcoin market. This is advance trading therefore shouldn't be practice by nooms though.

You have to look at history to see what people have done before. Most weren't around to see LTC go to $50 and then $2, and then there was ETH going in 2017, and gain another round of alt recovery. If you have never traded ForEx this is pretty much it - trading one currency for another.

If you're going to invest in alts - do it with fiat. If you do it with BTC the regret alone will make you stop trading. Dash, ETH, LTC never recovered from their highs and BTC dominance is still where it was 3 years ago despite a plethora of new 2nd/3rd gen cryptos.

There is also vice versa scenario if altcoin bull seasons start. It means it will be much more profitable if  you invest in altcoin your 1bitcoij will be equivalent to much higher BTC if the season started.

I don't know where it will happen but it will be much more profitable for investors. if you want to secure your money then better stay in Bitcoin only that altcoin is only for those who have guts to lost money or aware about the risk.
