Gambling addiction has been a social problem. It's necessary to educate people on the risk of gambling. Banning gambling is not the solution as it would bring up more problems and gambling itself has it's own contribution to the society and economy. It's about self control mostly both on gambling habits and outlook of life. Human life is much more important than money.
Prohibition of gambling is not a solution. Naturally, we are more attracted to forbidden things. If it is banned, everyone will gamble by evading the government and the government will lose a large amount of revenue.

That's the downside of gambling when you cannot afford to lose and when you're addicted to gambling! And exactly borrowing the money for gambling is the worst decision anyone can make with the pressure of returning and recovering the losses. I feel bad for that boy addiction got the best out of him.

It's not only in India but all countries where gambling is legal there are issues like this, some of them are not broadcast publicly but there really is, if you have a family or a friend who is very much hooked on gambling and he sometimes asks for a loan, better check if he is very deep into gambling because he may end up like this.
but in poor countries this problem is much deeper. people consider gambling as a way of getting out of poverty and in rich countries most people consider it as a fun. I don't think that in Sweden or in Norway someone would commit suicide after losing money. That's wrong. It doesn't depend on financial conditions really. If someone is gambling addict, they will uniformly play to the proportional to their net worth. A millionaire would gamble thousands and millions of dollars, a poor will gamble whatever he got. In the end they all lose it all if not handled properly! It comes to individualism.

I think there are enough helplines available to be spoken with, but someone who just made up his mind that nobody will understand his emotions and problems will not communicate with anybody and take this step. They should understand that gambling is not a game for weak people, and if they lose something that was not intended to be lost, they should consult some people available on phone calls to get the burden on their minds be calmed down a bit. This is a lesson for everyone not to take debts to recover your money because you can make money on your own for yourself, but losing other's money adds up much more tension on your mind and can even give you sleepless nights.

I would rephrase that ^ a bit: " the downside of betting what you cannot afford to lose"The problem with using the word gambling in that contest is that it confuses people who already know that gambling is taking big risk and is bad to take big risk with our hard-earned or borrowed money. But betting with what we can afford to lose/risk is fair... afterall the money won't be really lost. Part of it is going to people with better luck/skills/knowledge and other part to people who provide the betting services. Bet, but don't gamble.

That's it, it's the risk that we don't want to happen to us, it's something we need to prevent and therefore we have to be responsible all the time. Responsible gambling is always necessary regardless of the amount we bet. And exactly borrowing the money for gambling is the worst decision anyone can make with the pressure of returning and recovering the losses. I feel bad for that boy addiction got the best out of him.
It could be a bad decision but if you are responsible in gambling, it should not create a big problem, just treat it like a business, you borrow money to invest on yourself, if you lose, make sure you'll pay.

Suicide is one of the serious problem in many countries especially in 3rd world country who have high poverty rate, I keep worrying that the suicide rate is keep increasing especially because of gambling. My suggestion to other gamblers like me is to stay healthy both physically and mentally wherein we should be aware on our thoughts and we should have a determination and a winning mentality. Suicide is real and not a joke especially those who are experiencing suicidal thoughts. It is so sad to see a young boy to end his own life just because of gambling, maybe his psychology is not really prepared. I hope that this situation become lesson for those who keep borrowing money as their capital in gambling.

Not a new story, but still an alarming scenario. This kid is typically gambling for his life (that's what he had in his mindset) . This is one of the example of extreme gambling addiction. Even if he win and paid that borrowed money, he'd still go back to gambling and will continuously lossing money and still end up killing himself. The only way to stop that kid from killing himself, is to actually stop him from gambling. Really really sad news and waste of precious life.
This kind of stories are always sad because there is so much wasted potential, this kid could have become anything that he wanted but he made a series of mistakes that took him through a path which he believed it was impossible to escape, and the truth is that he could have escaped if he just admitted that he was addicted to gambling and that he needed help, but it seems that he was too proud for that and instead he decided to take a path from which there is no return.

No one can say on someones future that why in such young age its really a waste on ending someones life just because of that.He should at least tend to ask some help in regards to his problem and mainly would be on his parents because this is then nearest someone who can you ask some help. They might scold you but theres no other option left.

Perhaps, he might be affected so much by peer pressure and the influence of others towards his decision. Or the other way around, there's a possibility that he has no one by his side to decide which option to take that is why he spent and trusted so much of his funds to gamble. This is one of the disadvantages of being alone, we are being sad and we want to escape the sadness by having it especially in gambling. The consequence is that if faith doesn't turn out to be in our favor and we lost everything, it will impact us too much in our mental and psychological health. For the worst-case scenario, we might end up by what happened to the Indian boy if right from the start, we aren't really prepared for losing. We should first accept the terms even before we start gambling.

If he can tell his problem to his family, at least to his friends, he will have a chance to solve his problem because his family or friend will help to find the way. The mistake is borrowing money, which he uses for playing gambling. But then, he can't stop gambling and still continue playing until losing the money. I guess he is desperate about how to repay the money because perhaps, he loses all of the borrowing money.

It is a complete misconception that an indian boy has committed suicide after losing money by betting in the IPL betting the rate will be won you have to control your emotions and try to move forward it is foolish to end one's life keep cool and play through the entertainment. A lot of time depends on luck life becomes unbearable in the face of the grief of losing money and the pressure to return money therefore it is better to postpone if the amount of loss is high.

The life that has already end cannot undo and the mistake that he already commited cannot be corrected. Let's give him peace and sympathy for this boy has a huge problem shouldered on while he still has breath but seemed that even his family didn't know the burden he has. This should be a lesson for us to be responsible on our every decision in life especially when it comes to gambling or betting.

These suicides were the result of decision taken within few minutes after the loss. By the time the loss will be the one that gets remembered in the mind. If the gambler overcome those minutes, further he will come to normal situation with some frustration. Once sharing the loss with someone close to him automatically he gets recovered and makes his mind positive towards living.

The very bad consequence once you mistakenly handle this activity, for some addicted gmablers they'll be able to sell out their things to the point that they will rob something that have value to sell and use the money to play back and try to win inside the gambling house. The act that this boy did is a shortcut to forget the wrong doings that he commit, those amount of money that he loses around the gambling house, for him he can no longer bring it back depressions and regrets push him to commit suicide. I already see people sell out their stuff to other people, but they don't use that money to buy their daily needs, but it's for playing gambling. See that? They easily sell their stuff such as neckless, rings, and other jewel just to play gambling. Yes, some bad people who gamble rob other people to get their money, and they can kill their victims if they want. We might see that case in the news, and many people become their victims. That boy already loses everything, even his family also lost him, and nothing can do to get him back. Everything ends for that boy, and there is an important lesson for all people who read that news, especially for younger people, not playing gambling more than you can afford.

And for the critics, it doesn't matter whether these cases represent an extreme rarity or not. For them it is an opportunity to continue with their crusade against gambling.
