I had a good Sunday really, first, I watch the Gaballo vs Rodriguez fight, won a bit

and next I watched this fight and I have enjoyed it because Canelo is showing the heart of the real champion, he finds a way to hurt his opponent though his opponent doesn't like to be aggressive in the fight.

Though I find it Mismatch yet Good fight .

Congratulations for another big win, hopefully next year a Trilogy with GGG will be realize, and hopefully they'll hear the fans.

Still Canelo's performance was not 100% satisfactory. He was landing accurate punches, so I will not claim that he was rusty after such a long break. But then, Callum Smith looked out of sorts and I expected Canelo to end up with a KO by the 6th or 7th round. Perhaps there was not enough power in Canelo's punches and that enabled him to survive till the end. On the other hand, GGG got a KO a few days back (vs Kamil Szeremeta).

It's much better to see Canelo knock Callum out than brutally punishing him, there was a time that Canelo can knock Callum but he paused and give Callum a time to recover so he can continue punishing Callum, Canelo wants to inflict heavy damage to Callum and he is successful, Callum had a broken nose his eyes is swollen and he has a sore arm.

I think he was comparing Canelo to the three fighters because they are also in the discussion for the pound for pound number 1. But with this Canelo's win, he proved that he is way above the rest of the list as he has a better opponents, in short his resume was almost perfect except for that one lost against Floyd wherein he was still very new but a lot of promises when they fought.

So I agree that Canelo should end this year at the top of the list of pound for pound, he seems to have no weaknesses at all, specially his granite chin.

I agree. If he had tried hard, then Canelo could have knocked out Callum in all probability. But during the last round, he looked settled for an UD. Callum put up a brave fight (I would say this, despite most of the posters here claiming that it was a lopsided fight) and he kept fighting despite suffering heavy damage. Even his biceps were dislocated, but he refused to back down. Callum Smith should be proud about the fact that he survived 12 rounds against one of the best boxers in the world right now.

Canelo might just wanted for the fight to last long until the last rounds rather than on finishing it on earlier rounds which wouldnt really seem to be entertaining on his side.
It might sound dumb because lucky punches do happen but the chances of those are slim if we do base up between fighters capabilities.

Theres soo much huge gap between the two and i did really pity out Callum yet he got beaten up but at the same time i was impressed on the dedication and perseverance
even if he's already on the critical side.

Canelo does still have that power and i dont believe into those words above about being rusty.

Hmm I wouldn't say that he is "rust" but more careful in this fight. If you can see Callum Smith is taller compared to Canelo Alvarez and I think this is the first time he fought against a tall boxer like this and there are certain boxing techniques he can't apply in taller boxers because his punches and defense would need to have a different angle in order to land. This is what happened against Pacquiao vs. Margarito where Pacquiao had a hard time landing punches on the earlier round. So at least that is how a view things during that fight, if it weren't for the height disadvantage we won't see this kind of different style with Canelo.

That is what I look into him, Canelo can't be rusty because he is getting slowed but he needs to secure first himself of not receiving a hard punch as he knows that his opponent is not an easy guy to lose. We can't underestimate a fighter even we saw that they are good as before, their experience and styles can't say that it won't bring you into KO's. And the good thing is that Canelo allows Callum to survive until 12 round, Callum must be thankful for this.

Saying that Canelo allowed Callum to survive the entire fight felt like you were invalidating his efforts throughout the fight. Despite Canelo being aggressive the whole match, he still was not able to knockout Callum which is a great feat when you are against the best pound-for-pound king in the ring. Still, it was an enjoyable fight and I hope to see more of his action on the ring!

Right, but we all know that there will be a lot of haters out there, Floyd is undefeated, but many wanted him to lose. Similar to this fight, you can't please all the fans, Canelo did the job here, we can even say that it take a lot of effort in him to finish the fight and so is Callum.

Callum was on the backfoot ever since his biceps got dislocated (either in the second round or the third round). He was unable to make powerful punches because of this injury. For me, the match was over at this stage. From that point onwards, Callum was unable to do any aggression and he tried to last as long as possible by taking a defensive stance. Now Canelo could have gone after him for the KO, but he didn't did that. He tried to do a KO, but then eventually in the 12th round settled for an UD.

Canelo keeps coming in, the whole fight and two times he did not sit down because he wants to go to action right away, he is not rusty in fact this is Canelo's best form ever, he is punishing Callum he is not in a hurry to knock Callum Smith he just want to dominate, I think it's his intention not to knock him he just want to extend himself after a very long lay off.

That's how most professional boxers does, they will take some time to finish their opponent and not to rush to knock them out because anything could happen when they do that. But sometimes they forgot such basics and went out to rush to knockout their opponents which result in their defeat like what has happened to Manny Pacquaio when he fought with Marquez in their 4th fight.

Agree with you, Callum has been hit with solid punches but he manage to survive and kodus to him for that. It's not easy when you are on the receiving end of those Canelo's punches. I thought that Callum won't last until the 12 rounds that's why i bet for a Canelo KO and lost but no regrets, that's gambling.

As a fan of boxing i want Canelo to fight GGG to seal the deal or somehow finish the business before GGG reaches 40 or is it ideal that GGG is already old while Canelo is still on it's peak?
