Do you know the difference between Bitcoin and bitcoin?

I normally use the capital letter for the Bitcoin Network and the small for the coin/currency. I guess I interchange the words sometimes, probably when I'm starting a sentence with bitcoin (currency), When I use the Bitcoin(Network) multiple times after the beginning of a sentence, If it's a typo/mistake or when I didn't know/remember.

Sometimes my device always starts typing in capital form and sometimes it isn't or sometimes I accidentally push the caps button making them capitalize but at the end I didn't care at all if what is the proper way to write btc in different situations .

 There's also a debate of that before but it was by using an symbol BTC instead of typing btc but I still end up typing btc for easy typing . Thanks for this anyway @op this is informative tho  .

I haven't really, I thought they were the same though it depends upon how it is delivered. If you are just having a normal and casual conversation I don't think that it will matter but if your are writing a formal document or anything related to Bitcoin then that's the time that you should properly address the use of Pascal case. Thank you for that information, I have not known the difference of bitcoin from Bitcoin until today. What I thought about this is when it is just a normal conversation, you can use any of it just make sure that the message will not be changed.

Bitcoin: The title.
bitcoin: The unit.
BTC: ISO code.
₿: The symbol.

That's the least grammatically issues we have on this forum, though...

For me it didn't matter because when we right Bitcoin with capital or just lower case we automatically understand it here in the forum,
So I didn't pay too much attention to it.

Even me, I didn't matter about the small and big letter b in Bitcoin because all I know that it has the same meaning but it's good to know more about bitcoin and  the meaning behind it's symbol.

I think it's a very slightly difference between the two words, that doesn't change the concept or create misunderstanding. 
I mean, people in real word will never care about a difference like that. The same, it seems apply also here on forum

I'm sure many of them don't know the difference between uppercase and lowercase in the meaning of the word Bitcoin or bitcoin and so on.
There are no firm and definite rules about this, but it makes us realize that these differences have different meanings and make us not confused and understand the meaning of these differences.

As I was completing a survey about an hour ago, there was some mention of the distinction between Bitcoin spelled with capital B and bitcoin with a lowercase b. Although I have heard about this before, and I usually pay a lot of attention to spelling and punctuation, I have to admit that I have forgotten about this.

When we talk about Bitcoin as a blockchain, payment method, or a service, we are supposed to spell the word with an uppercase B.

Here is an example:
My best friend doesn't see the advantages of Bitcoin.

When we talk about the currency or mention numbers and quantitates of the asset, the word should be spelled with a lowercase b.

Here is an example:
I sent my best friend 1 bitcoin as a birthday gift.

One must have a literary basis to really understand the use of upper and lowercase letters to pronounce new terms. I just follow the formal writing style that is widely used in various general articles in my local to mention the type of currency inserted in the sentence.

Absolutely, I think it's really important to distinguish the two, it always makes a point more clear.

It is writing style but I would choose the bitcoin and BTC.

There are derivatives: Bitcoin, BITCOIN, BTC and I think readers can understand what it is.

In orders of good, my choice will be:
- bitcoin
- BTC
- BTC.

I don't like Bitcoin or BITCOIN.

It's not just style, style means just a preference, while correct writing helps to avoid confusion. For example, without this convention, the phrase "Satoshi's Bitcoin" could mean either Satoshi's protocol and  code, or Satoshi's coins that he mined in early days. Also, "BITCOIN" is never used, all upper case is usually understood as an equivalent of yelling in written speech.

Though it's not really important but it's good to know that we will able to applies it now that we learned the difference. I already read it before but Itgere were times that we just let it the normal way as we type it here in forum but to content creators and news maker this is a must know.

In my opinion it is indeed very controversial (because in Germany, we always write capital letters) but I would always write Bitcoin. After all we know what we are talking about.

For me, it doesn't really affect the writing we write, we are free to write what we think is appropriate. Because this forum is

As a Russian speaking person, I do not pay much attention on Bitcoin and bitcoin. Russian grammar does not have that kind of differences.

You are not writing in Russian now, you are writing in English and you follow the rules of English grammar.

so technically your example "My best friend doesn't see the advantages of Bitcoin." means your friend used the protocol not bitcoin as a currency. like if he created an altcoin based on Bitcoin.

My example has a double meaning actually. It can mean that my friend sees no benefits in using the Bitcoin blockchain. It can also mean that he sees no benefits in using bitcoin (the coin/currency). I should have thought of a better example, but I will leave it as it is now.

I think either Capital or small letter B to use the word bitcoin it has the same meaning and understanding.

It doesn't have the same meaning and refers to two different things, hence this thread. But you can still grasp the meaning no matter if you use Bitcoin or bitcoin, sure.

It just looks weird to me to see bitcoin. Most of the time I just capitalize it. But I am glad I came across that survey and remembered an old discussion. Will try to respect the difference now anytime I can.

In that particular PM exchange, you are referring to the coin/currency as Bitcoin, when it should be bitcoin. I am sure it gets even more complicated for native Germans because they capitalize all nouns and unconsciously use the same approach when writing in English sometimes.

But for BTC transactions it doesn't really matter because Bitcoin blockchain, doesn't really have ERC20 like ETH chain. So you wont mistake your BTC to a different address.

I think this is about difference in semantics. The difference is not closely felt but with the example I see that the first is pointing to the name Bitcoin and the second is about the digital currency.
To the second example, it is particularly about the spendable coin, fractions , example 0.002btc

Admit it or not, many of us including me is not really paying attention to the wordings to be used in discussing Bitcoin. But what I noticed on my usage, I usually referred units to BTC. For example, 1 BTC, that is because most of the cryptocurrency including Ether is using the short abbreviation of ETH. That is also what the applications and wallets are showing. Though even if we use BTC or bitcoin for unit, it is still understandable.

But I agree, for the concept of discussing Bitcoin in Bitcoin Network and Blockchain, it is much appropriate to use "Bitcoin", instead of "BTC" blockchain. Better to know it so thanks OP.

The thing is, they don't appear red in my Grammarly when I tried to post both words it seems like both of them are correct until you elaborate to us the difference between these two. I understand it well when you say about the difference between the two words you mentioned. It usually means quantity when you are posting on the Altcoin section but in this section upper case should be used at some point. Thanks for clarifying it to us, this seems to be a small thing but it's a piece of good information you got here.
