I would not waste a single dollar satoshi for ledger wallet, and they are probably going to end up like Keepkey soon, brick selling for $5 but nobody will use it anymore.
Competition wallets like Trezor and Coldard is open source and they offer nice discounts now, Trezor 20% and Coldcard 15%

I don't think the data breach will affect them that much in the long run. They have such a big market share when it comes to hardware wallet that it is very difficult to compete against them. 40% seems like a reasonable discount. They are trying to earn some goodwill but you can't expect them to discount it so much that they lose a lot of money.

Reasonable? I agree, but 40% isn't that appealing considering it's black friday. On black friday, i expect at least 50%.

They also offer free shipping but only for Ledger Nano X model, which is not negligible. So, it is 40% + free shipping (if it's also in black Friday promotion). For example, when select Ledger Nano S, shipping is around $18 for me.

I agree with you, I gave up buying Ledger, I'll still stay with Trezor.

Open source doesn't make it more secure than closed source It could even be the opposite in some cases.
IRL Apple is a closed source (right?), yet they sell millions of phones with its system. So before nobody uses Ledger any more chickens will have teeth, as we say in my country.

Open a Ledger to see how it's inside and look at the quality of the components, and do the same with Trezor. Come back after to tell us.

Last time your argument was because of the data breach, it doesn't mean the hardware security is concerned. Then it was about the website itself when you posted a useless table, another stupid argument. Then it was about claiming Ledger does nothing after the breach which turned out to be false!

BTW, those vulnerabilities have been found more than 2 years ago. The firmware vulnerability has been fixed.

It's funny how you hate on ledger, but endorse trezor with a unfixable hardware vulnerability which leads to seed extraction.

You are obviously the only shiller here with no technical competence to estimate the security of software, hardware and wallets in general.

You could never extract the SEED from my Trezor T.  Anyone using a T that has not already eliminated that risk is simply "asleep at the wheel".  I even plant false bait with a bogus SD file, where the actual SD needed is hidden.  If an adversary wants to "chase their tail" decrypting a false file then have fun!

Both hardware wallets (Ledger and Trezor) are great devices.  I just wanted to set the record straight about exposed SEED vulnerability on a T.  And of course with either a 40 + character passphrase would further remove the risk of any SEED leaks due to operator error.

Good for you then. Enabling SD card protection requires trezorctl which cannot be installed on Windows without WSL. Even if the instructions are clear, I don't think you can expect an average user to do that. Don't forget that Trezor does not inform their new users about this vulnerability. Not everyone does a thorough research before buying a hardware wallet.

They might add this feature at some point to Trezor Suite, but I doubt that they will enforce it in any way. Let's not derail this thread. If you want to reply to my post, please do it here.

They follow the same tactics as last year, 5% extra on the last day. For those who are still not satisfied with the offer, last year the discount for BF was only 30% (max 35%) - but it is very likely that the Christmas - New Year's offer will go up to 50%.

Omg     Sorry that I find it funny to happen exactly to you...
I don't even remember if/when I've got phishing mail from them. I get such mails from time to time, but I get much more targeting PayPal (which, funny enough, I use at an average of less than once per year). But I mark them as spam and going forward...

About Ledger, they do have issues indeed, some care more about them, some less. As I already said, the actual device is OK, imho, although all their other services seem to go from bad to worse.
This means that some may be interested on the coupon code. And if they don't, no biggie.


I think that your (recent?) grudge against Ledger may consume you more than harm them.
And sadly for you, people (consumers) tend to have only very short term memory, so in a couple your energy will be depleted and their buyers will not care.
I don't care at all about Ledger's sales, well being and such (in case somebody starts some wild interpretations), I just wanted to say in more words: take care and save your energy.
