It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Is this true? Seems new president is likely to support the cryptocurrency ( stable coin). Cheesy

But we need to wait until they really launch their project because this happens all of a sudden after a long hold.
based on article above looks like it will realized. but unfortunately why its as stable coins ? not as another coins that its value could rise several times from initial price. personally when read it ,my sense interest decrease alot . investment will not give huge return if as stable coin, meanwhile libra coin have bigger potency than just it.

its true, investors more interested on coins that could give them huge profit. stable coin almost have no potential gain from its volatility and very different with other coin or token that have huge volatility so we could take opportunity from it. but as investors we should look from one side only, imagine its impact to crypto market when facebook finally realized their project. trust to crypto market will growth alot , and i am sure another giant company will do the same with facebook later. investors have strong confidence to buy more cryptocurrency and ofcourse price will move parallel with its confidence.

This is good news

Quote
The Libra Association did not immediately respond to Cointelegraph’s request for further information.

It seems they are still planning something and they are going to announce it at the right time. last year Libra made big headlines but unfortunately, it did not push through, this is the reason PayPal decides to go on its own, now that they have HSBC legal chief Stuart Levey as chief executive, the project will now push through.

I wonder how much support it's gonna get. This honestly seems like a rush in desperation after PayPal announced their crypto thing.

I'd say Libra's gotten too much hate in the past to be successful, but unfortunately too many people get fooled so easily by anything these days. I just wish it's going to be a failed attempt. We do not need a privately-controlled centralized currency. That's exactly what I am trying to avoid. Smiley

There was a lot of speculation about the new Libra in the media lately. It will still be pegged to 1:1 to USD, so it will be stable coin. However, I still think it will still face a lot of regulatory backlash again, similar to what they have plans back in June 2019.

So I don't know if they can push it next year without any hiccups. They already have a history specially in EU, so again, it will be difficult battle for him in the US and other parts of the globe. They will have to answer again and I'm sure financial regulatory will give them a lot of problems so I doubt that it will be launch.

So finally it is launching as centralized and controlled usd backed official coin, it was always expected that govt will take over the project and that is why there was so much buzz around it now my excitement for libra as global decentralized coin is over.

Im not sure that libra has already taken by the government. FINMA gives no comment about that. That means libra is not even controlling by the government but it's likely that libra will be fully controlled by the facebook. There are some parties have developed the unique wallet for the libra stable coin.
It's a very interesting news. We should be waiting for the further announcement.

Then it will be more like a stable coin? I do not think investors like to invest in any stable coin because it doesn't offer any profit for investment. It's essential for the time of inflation only. But it's good to know that Libra is not fully dead and it looks like the president of the United States has a plan for crypto currency and he is using Libra to do that.

If this news is true then their decision is very good to launch the Libra token, because what we know is that at this time all exchanges have started to stabilize, and now it is very good to promote Libra coins to all Cryptocurrency communities, hopefully this news is true ..

Before the actions of governments to bring national digital money into the payment system, America will not sit idly by to watch the piece of cake taken away easily. They have all the conditions for developing a new cryptocurrency. Libra will help America compete in this race. While issuing the Libra cryptocurrency will be difficult, it will happen regardless of whether or not the SEC makes it difficult. That is the evolution of money, and there's no doubt that Libra will be launched.

I don't even think SEC will take an action to prevent this as the libra will be launched on swiss. If FINMA has given the permission for the facebook to launch its stable coin and SEC can do nothing consider it was getting operated outside of US territory. You should read the news again and cointelegraph was asking finma about that but no answer came from finma.

Earlier, there was information that American structures that fought against terrorism and money laundering, forced Swiss banks not to provide services to clients who demanded anonymity and confidentiality. If they managed to influence the current situation in the field of banking services, then would they not be able to find opportunities to influence this in the case of Libra?

I can confidently speculate that crypto will soon dominate the world with libra. This will be true due to the Facebook users, adoption wont be a problem. To buy ad, all you need do is to use libra.

well, lets see how their project will play out.

Why don't Facebook apply for traditional banking licences if they want to do traditional banking so much because all libra boils down to is "traditional banking".

They can already add fbcoin wallets to every fb user without needing crypto. Nobody's stopping them.

I don't understand what's their aim.

The fact that Libra will be launched will be a significant event that will be even more important for the promotion of cryptocurrency in everyday use than the ability to pay for goods with cryptocurrency to PayPal customers. Obviously, you will need to pass verification in order to use Libra for payment.

the question is, will Libra's presence be a middleman among the cryptocurrency crowd today?
Libra continues to champion this plan and continues to pursue ways to be recognized as part of the decentralized cryptocurrency.
we all know opposition to Libra's presence seems to be steadily quenching. ended in 2019, and is now reappearing either with a new concept, or still with old goals.

I'm still waiting for how the crypto world will react to Libra's arrival.

I have not seen many major media outlets officially reporting this. If it is for real, it will be a huge trigger for the upcoming bull run of the crypto market.

It was very impressive to hear the news almost one year ago. It finally will launch in January as the article says. By the way, it is likely that it will push the cryptocurrency even one step more to think for them who still have the doubt about its existence. Libra will be blessings for total crypto industry as I believe.

I have a feeling this Facebook project is going to fail, who wants his money to be suspended because of one regulation or not. People yearning for projects like Libra are those that are looking for ways to control the Crypto-market, I just hope exchanges won't jump on this are start listing it for their users

The fact that Libra will be launched will be a significant event that will be even more important for the promotion of cryptocurrency in everyday use than the ability to pay for goods with cryptocurrency to PayPal customers. Obviously, you will need to pass verification in order to use Libra for payment.
We will see more centralized cryptocurrency in the coming years and Facebook Libra is just a start and you need to verify your identity to use their wallet and that will be the benchmark they are going to keep and everyone has the option to avoid those. In the grand scheme of things when these centralized cryptocurrencies show their true color they will shift to decentralized currency.

"Limited Format" Looks like it will be launched but with limited purpose i suppose? The FT web need an subscribing fee so i can't read it about the report but according to Cointelegraph article it's still on Licensing Process (https://www.finma.ch/en/news/2020/04/20200416-mm-libra/) and i think it's still not sure if that will 100% launched on January 2021, From my perspective looks like Libra take an chance since Biden Cabinet have an positive view to Cryptocurrency and last Paypal integration on Bitcoin so it have an strong sign to be launched for that but still it's not 100% accurate, Well let's see what will happen later.

It was announced to be a stablecoin from day one but only question was how open and decentralized it would be, but with regulatory pressures and delays it seems like it will be just like ysing bank account or paypal because all user and transaction data will be available to US authorities.

How will Facebook issue a currency without getting approval from the Federal Reserve? facebook met with strong opposition and some considered them a threat to privacy, I do not think that a bill will succeed. This money did not reconcile the situation and bring in sufficient means.

If the news is true, people will start adopting bitcoin demand

Apparently the founder of facebook wants to take advantage of the good market we have.

The news is a trend in all social networks: https://cincodias.elpais.com/cincodias/2020/11/27/mercados/1606488929_192485.html

Libra is like the cryptocurrency that social media needs.

It will be the main driver of all cryptocurrencies ...

Why don't Facebook apply for traditional banking licences if they want to do traditional banking so much because all libra boils down to is "traditional banking".

They can already add fbcoin wallets to every fb user without needing crypto. Nobody's stopping them.

I don't understand what's their aim.

The facebook is different system, it doesn't need any people support. It was grow with the people support.Fbcoin was published by them and some investment till now.But it was not became a high value coin like bitcoin.

Wait, the coins by facebook is still being developed? I thought they were facing some regulatory problems and some license issues or something and the project eventually died with the hype. But, good for them if they managed to fix everything.
This is going to be interesting. A stable coin backed by US dollar (which is backed by nothing lol) and being under total control of facebook. At least people won't be using it for invest and more like for using it as a regular currency. But then, aren't we able to do the same with paypal, cashapp and venmo?

It makes sense for FB to choose Libra as a stable coin backed by USD because their am is to established a payment service.  At least Libra being a stable coin solved the problem of volatility.  I am sure investors won't be a problem since FB being so popular will have large companies behind them supporting the project.

I really don't think Zuck will really give up easily with his project regarding cryptocurrency. Aiming to be a payment service, you are right that stability is important to its customers especially those that are not really familiar how cryptocurrencies work. As a lot are complaining about volatility, stability is the answer to this. However, for investors that are thinking that Libra coin will be a good investment, now, they will be seeing that this is just another stable coin and will not rise the value just like bitcoin.

Is this true? Seems new president is likely to support the cryptocurrency ( stable coin). Cheesy

But we need to wait until they really launch their project because this happens all of a sudden after a long hold.
This is true because the source is Cointelegraph, one of the legit news providers for crypto-currency. Why the president support the Libra? Is there any statement that the president already mentioned supporting crypto-currency? We need to wait for more further news because the exact launch date is still unknown and depends on the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority's approval.

Libra has been creating to be an alternative payment system. It will be a stable coin backed by fiat currency too. It will never be the same as bitcoin.
It looks like that you didn't yet understand what will be the main purpose from the creation of libra coin. I hope that this will give you a small insight about the purpose of libra coin. It will be very similar as USDT

I'm not interested at all, maybe you must look at this thread PayPal blocked a member's account due to cryptocurrency trading.
Paypal and Facebook are same, they are created as a centralized company and they can control your funds. As I know libra facebook is a stable coin, right?? So what are the benefits?? Better choose USDT or BUSD(Binance stable) rather than Libra

Ok then. The US govt has finally found a representative of them in their part for making a cryptocurrency. Other have CBDC, they now have Facebook with Libra.
Not that big news for me that have known that they're going to launch before but just delayed because of the hearings and proceedings. This is good news for whoever likes this stable coin.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebook-s-libra-to-reportedly-launch-in-january-2021-as-usd-stablecoin

"Following more than a year of scrutiny from global financial regulators, Libra will launch in a form of a United States dollar-backed digital currency, the Financial Times reported on Nov. 27"
Well, Paypal already did adopt Bitcoin and I think its also good for Facebook to adopt instead of pushing Libra in the market because the pressure will still come against them even if the US is already support this program. Anyway, this is still a good news to see some light on Libra project and I hope they finally succeed on this battle and make the Libra token out in the market, let’s wait for more updates regarding this one.

I am really surprised with this news because I thought the libra project already dropped by the Facebook. But the original idea of the project was the token value will be based on fiat value of each respective countries, am I right?

So Biden's government is actually helping the adoption of cryptocurrencies more or they just want to cut down the privacy?

I hope there are no more delays regarding this. based on the article, there is still no definite date regarding when this Libra was actually launched. I just hope that it's not like the previous Libra release news which got into quite a bit of trouble. well, I'm still looking forward to Libra appearing in the crypto world.

I hope there are no more delays regarding this. based on the article, there is still no definite date regarding when this Libra was actually launched. I just hope that it's not like the previous Libra release news which got into quite a bit of trouble. well, I'm still looking forward to Libra appearing in the crypto world.
In my opinion, if there is news like this there will be no more delay. Libra has gone through a rough patch against the government, and now it's ready to launch. After Libra launches, we have to prepare for mass adoption.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebook-s-libra-to-reportedly-launch-in-january-2021-as-usd-stablecoin

"Following more than a year of scrutiny from global financial regulators, Libra will launch in a form of a United States dollar-backed digital currency, the Financial Times reported on Nov. 27"
If its true for me that is not good, What if the USD price are crashed? Like the gas on the united arab of emirates will drained? What will happen to libra coin? Its better for me to back up on the income of the company I wouldn't imagine the U.S economy will be destroy someday because of what they did in the past 400 years.

It is a good development. It was on Wednesday when I read about their new hire of a General Council to oversee the Libra Network that I had an idea that the launch of the project is going to come sooner than one would expect.

With its 2.7 Billion users worldwide, an eventual successful launch of the payment systems will definitely change a lot in the Fintech space and I can only wish the network success as they move on with the launch.

It's a worthwhile project and I believe it's going to add some value to the cryptocurrency space.

I don't understand what's their aim.

They will eventually turn to Cryptocurrency if they first opted for traditional banking, they want to beat other big online company that is still on the planning stage, Cryptocurrency is now on every company and organization radar and they will soon dip their hands here, PayPal is the first company to do so, so expect more to come in.

cryptocurrency will not recognized as investment portofolio only , but investors will thought widely and start talking about blockchain technology adoption in their ecosystem. with Libra , i am sure facebook will used it in their own ecosystem to paid any services. if 50% from facebook user use this coin , most of them will understand about cryptocurrency and it is the real value by joining facebook in crypto market by developting their own coin. more giant company developt their own blockchain technology or coin , more people know about crypto . their user basis was be main key for community developtment

I don't know whether Libra will be launched or not. But their approach was wrong from the very beginning. Mark Zuckerberg and David Marcus stole the idea from Satoshi Nakamoto and then without giving any credit to the original inventor, they tried to create a competing product. What they did was very unethical and I won't be surprised if Libra remains in the freezer for the next few decades.

I do think the organization will work very hard to have the Libra project launch. Reason being that they are billions of dollars waiting to be made through the payment system. Facebook saw the potential of the project before pushing it forward. Who wouldn't want to create a payment system that will serve a population that about the size of China and India combined.

As concerns unethical practices, I think the tech world is likely the most unethical industry, I have seen in term of business practices in coding and software development, and Silicon Valley seems to be the headquarters. Was Facebook itself not a product of unethical business practice?

I have a feeling this Facebook project is going to fail, who wants his money to be suspended because of one regulation or not. People yearning for projects like Libra are those that are looking for ways to control the Crypto-market, I just hope exchanges won't jump on this are start listing it for their users

Personally, my view tends to defer from yours. I'm feeling that the project will rather contribute positively to the cryptospace than negatively. This is because it will create more awareness on the blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency ecosystem among its 2.7 Billion users, thereby increasing the tendency of growing adoption by the traditional business giants and reaching the greater percentage of the unreached populations before.

This is only a prediction and nothing is certain. This is just the announcement from 3 people involved in the development of Libra and there is no official information. In addition, a FINMA spokesperson declined to comment by Cointelegraph on the potential launch of Libra in January 2021, they are still in the process of resolving Libra's proceedings.
So we need to wait a few more weeks for official information. I think the information from FINMA will be more certain than the Cointelegraph.

They can integrate fbcoin wallet as the years going.
Probably the regular updates is possible to improve libra integration.
This is a huge success and new milestone of Facebook if everything happens accordingly.
Pretty sure they aim for global financial and social platform in compact application.

Not necessarily, this is just a prediction, if later Libra able to solve regulatory problems then they will be accepted by Swiss regulatory companies. I hope this Libra case can be resolved as soon as possible, and I also hope that big companies like Paypal and Mastercard can rejoin with Libra.

Since they are not announcing anything yet, they are not yet out of the loop, remember the regulation body it hard for them to launch when they first want to, even if they have a new director, they will go under the knife, so I guess their attitude is that will cross the river when they get there.
It will be good for the community even if it is a stable coin, but this is not a welcomes to investors.

The Libra project has changed so often during these one and a half years that it is not known what is left of it and how it will continue to work.  Earlier at a hearing in the US Senate, Zuckerberg had to agree that the Libra coin would have nothing to do with Facebook.  Later, many of the currencies that the Libra coin would have to provide were also abandoned.  It should also be remembered that earlier the finance ministers of the European Union countries stated that they would not allow the circulation of this coin on their territory.  It looks like Libra will no longer be any different from many existing stablecoins.

It's about time they announced this since people have been hyping this even last year but it's kinda sad that this isn't really what the people want at all. Why would people want Libra when there's already a lot of stablecoins that is usable. Libra is also centralized so it's not going to have much traction now.

Many people sacred to this coin because they think that coin will beat bitcoin without knowing it will not affect to this to the bitcoin.

I already forgot about Libra because during their announcement it's trending online but now I do not see any news about this coin.

I do not know if the launching is successful or it still not launching to the public.

I remember the news been too hype before but it keeps greeting negative review since some question it's credibility that may affects the identity of its user. Now that crypto is indemnd during these Pandemic. More will be curious in these coins. I thought it was already cancelled because it's been long news.

Hopefully the new president will be more crypto friendly, I'm happy that Libra is still a thing today, most new projects like this end up in silence once they faced few challenges from SEC, laws and government etc but since Libra is just another stable coin I'm a bit not that into the digital currency

This is very good news for the entire cryptocurrency market! Now it can be used as a driver for the growth of bitcoin above $ 20,000. It's just not clear why they said earlier that they would never release a libra.

If it's true facebook might be following all the rumour about CBDC. Although Libra was first announced but unfortunately facebook don't have the guts to release it and some old people in the office are against the revolution of financial technology.
Although it's not like Libra gonna contribute anything to our lovely decentralized community atleast we have some exposure here.

I don't understand what's their aim.

The facebook is different system, it doesn't need any people support. It was grow with the people support.Fbcoin was published by them and some investment till now.But it was not became a high value coin like bitcoin.

I know it is similar to the USDT and USDT itself isn't the most solid shit out there neither. (USDT's legal situation is complicated and unknown and can go down anytime)

All I am saying is, you don't need to paint it as a crypto currency because it is not a crypto currency and won't be one even if it runs on some so called "blockchain"

If the network needs a permission from the authorities to run then why use crypto? It doesn't make sense.

Any big server would do.

Buy a big server with enough CPU power to calculate the transactions, create a top currency on the excel sheet, back it with various FIAT currencies (GBP, CNY, USD, EUR), divide the total amount  invested to the participants and there it is: Libra.

The US and Europe already have their payment systems which is Swift and SEPA. Why would they let somebody else (like Zuckerberg) do their job?

Something is fishy here.

I don't think this is any different from the traditional bank, why don't they just stick to the traditional banking system instead of producing yet another centralized currency that would be regulated by the government, sounds like "our hands in your pocket" kinda scenario, Libra is hated by alot of people because of this, and according to the article it's a stable coin, investors can't make any profit off it, just another USDT if you ask me  Cheesy. My opinion tho.

This is news that I think is great. Libra collaborates with Facebook and almost everyone in the world has an account on Facebook. This will make transactions in cryptocurrency increase rapidly because of the ease with which people can buy crypto only through their social media applications

https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebook-s-libra-to-reportedly-launch-in-january-2021-as-usd-stablecoin

"Following more than a year of scrutiny from global financial regulators, Libra will launch in a form of a United States dollar-backed digital currency, the Financial Times reported on Nov. 27"

So they find some solutions to their problems but I wonder if they are still in good team as I heard that there are few partners that already left the said project because of the problems that it was facing.

This will be good if indeed this information is genuine as it can help the crypto market to boost more and the crypto will be known widely as the users of facebook are pretty huge. I will just hope that they will not end up postponing the launch again because of another problem that they need to solve again.

It's a stablecoin used as a payment method within Facebook. Don't be a surprise if this Libra will also be giving a chance for Facebook users to buy BTC with Libra and then not going to be able to withdraw BTC just like what PayPal is doing.

There is no reason for it to exist anymore but Facebook is a business and I guess if it's approved by regulators then the lobbying had worked.

Smiley

But PayPal Announcement was just to support and provide crypto service, it is quite different from what Facebook is offering, PayPal offer an opportunity for many of their users to be able to buy crypto unlike Facebook, we already have enough stablecoin in the market that are good and reliable, and I don't know what good this libra stable it will bring to crypto Community.

There is nothing to do with president here. It says in the OP that after a long scrutinizing the project are now being approved and probably will launched the project. I think the project had been gone a lot especially in the proving of how useful could it be and how could it improve the facebook community.

Hopefully it will launch a bounty campaign here in the forum. We can expect that it will be one of the great and rewarding project to join.

That is their issue before and I think that they already resolve it and permits them to launch their project. I also hope that people are still excited to participate so they will succeed otherwise, failure has to be their ends.

Anyway, let us see and wait for the outcome. We can't tell yet that it will proportionally give a huge influence on the market trend (which likely we think) until such time that it was proven. FB is known to almost everyone but that was different from the Libra coin where not all FB users are also crypto lovers/adopters.

If this happens in reality, Facebook will be able to get huge working capital for the implementation of its projects. It can be compared to a fairly large Bank.
I'm more interested in what impact this coin will have on the crypto market. I hope that thanks to this coin, more and more people will be able to buy other cryptocurrencies, because not everyone will want to stop only at Libra.

The news about Libra being a stablecoin has finally come true, with FOMO of the bull market trend occurring in 2021, it is possible that when it is officially launched the bull market FOMO will get stronger and the price of bitcoin touching the new ATH will become a reality in the near future.

It's only that libra being banned in US territory but you should remember if this time libra has been moving to the swiss. SEC can do nothing about this and the only party who can accept or reject the launch of libra was FINMA. This time libra will not be prevented by US to launch its stable coin.

Honestly, I can't expect much from Libra, even though Libra has the momentum that Paypal has opened up, but maybe there will be another delay. libra may indeed be releasing their product because right now the momentum is pretty good, but I'm sure they still have a lot of homework to do first

The bankers didn't even give permission for libra to launch its payment system but it seems like you can't sure that if all of people will ignore this new payment system that being launched by the libra team.
Libra is one step closer to be a real thing for sure. FINMA has been giving an approval for libra and it will be started to be launched on Switzerland which can be considered as the crypto house too.
It's one of crypto friendly country.

I think when they finally unveil it, it will feel a bit like a payment processor rather than a currency. Definitely it would have the chance to be a currency but if we do not use Libra outside of facebook companies, it is just a way for people to send/receive "facebook money" between each other, it requires some sort of cashing out to fiat as well, but still it is literally just a money you can use for them and send/receive between each other and cash out, that's it, that is what paypal basically does as well and nothing too different.

What crypto is great about is the fact that many places could accept it and we can use them almost everywhere if the other party accepts it, will there be many people who accept Libra as a payment? I doubt that, maybe only facebook shops and that's it.

I just want to know, what the difference of libra if we compare it with other stable coins?? Or what the benefits if I buy the libra coins?
It is a stable coin its means so bad for investment because cant give profits, and if I want to secure my funds I will buy BUSD rather than Libra coin
Actually, I don't see a reason why must buy these coin

Libra itself was launched after the company studied many other types of cryptocurrencies that were launched earlier, such as bitcoin. This is intended so that Libra avoids value volatility, which has made cryptocurrency avoided and caused losses. This clearly has US regulators Worried about Libra,
The US regulatory agency reacted to the idea that Facebook could use its 2 billion users to create a global currency.

That's a good news. More people will gather around Libra as Facebook has a better reputation than almost all the others. With the financial stability of the company, majority will keep their trust and faith on this coin, instead of the less-known ones.

Biden has no exective power yet. Whatever we see now should be from Donald Trump. It is too early to guess what Biden can do apart from allowing liberal politics and gay rights and all that. It is about time too that Libra is released to the market. It will be a big project and if it gets the backing of the American government  then Bitcoin is in trouble.

Anyone still listening to their bankers that crypto is just an experiment that will soon fade away may have to buy a gun and chase off their financial advisers when our traditional banks finally collapse and give way for a decentralized system. Libra lunaching will be epic and significant to the crypto space but bitcoin will remain as the leader.

unfortunately this is like being forced to launch and don't see the economic conditions that are not good, they only see how the price movement of bitcoin is increasing and want to take advantage of this moment to launch the Libra project so that more people will know about Libra and unfortunately no one interested.

Is this true? Seems new president is likely to support the cryptocurrency ( stable coin). Cheesy

But we need to wait until they really launch their project because this happens all of a sudden after a long hold.

I don't see anything significant in the Libra stablecoin.  For some reason, everyone thinks that this coin will somehow be related to Facebook.  However, Zuckerberg promised at a hearing in the US Senate that the Libra coin would have nothing to do with Facebook.  And without Facebook, it will be the most common stablecoin, of which there are a lot now.  It will be backed only by the US dollar and, if desired, the government of this country can stop it if it prohibits the use of the dollar as collateral for stablecoins, as the Chinese government does with the yuan.

...... give way for a decentralized system. Libra ...
Lol does not get anymore centralized than Facebook, one sneeze and your account is locked. Gee give me cash anyday.
Facebook pumping, why https://tdxp.app/market/Facebook
Libra is also rebranding to "Diem", latin for day
lol, hopefully what you say doesn't come true because if it becomes real there will be many investors who lose and of course Libra is one of the projects that can be said to fail but was forced to launch.

A new dollar-backed coin? This would not be a good news if libra was not creared by Facebook. It is likely that the new president will support this coin cause he has a friendly relationship with Facebook CEO

Question is: will you use a centralized cryptocurrency? Especially when it is created by the biggest company which uses your data daily for their own businesses

https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebook-s-libra-to-reportedly-launch-in-january-2021-as-usd-stablecoin

"Following more than a year of scrutiny from global financial regulators, Libra will launch in a form of a United States dollar-backed digital currency, the Financial Times reported on Nov. 27"
It is launching in january alongwith paypal crypto services also going live for more countries in january so i can already be bullish about the market and i am expecting big green monthly candle for january which will give huge bullish momentum to the market for the rest of the year.

Why don't Facebook apply for traditional banking licences if they want to do traditional banking so much because all libra boils down to is "traditional banking".

They can already add fbcoin wallets to every fb user without needing crypto. Nobody's stopping them.

I don't understand what's their aim.

I don’t know how they want to organize it, but as I understand it, their goal is to make Libra basically some kind of analog for payments where there is no way for people to get access to the banking system, payment cards, and the like. There are more than 1 billion such people. But Libra has big problems with supervisory financial authorities. We'll see what will come of it next year.

Even if it has nothing to do with Facebook for the fact that it is from the same person who owns Facebook, it speaks alot and will draw much attention to it. It is like saying Bill Gates is floating a token, you think it will not get more attention than when an unknown face is floating it? Zuckerberg is just trying to play save because of legislation. Watch and see if he will not add the Libra as a payment option for adverts on Facebook when the token is out.

I still do not think that this will be anytime soon, but I also think that it will happen eventually one day. Facebook never scraped the project and said they were done, they did postponed it because of some problems with the authorities but they never stopped it, it was obvious that they were looking to find a way to actually represent libra without any problems at all from anyone, which would take sometime to arrange all of that. This  is why I honestly imagined that they would make a come back one day.

This is just the confirmation on what I imagined would happen, but obviously it wouldn't be right away, it will definitely take some time before all of this happens. I give facebook about a year at least to make it public and available for everyone, probably even more.

based on article above looks like it will realized. but unfortunately why its as stable coins ? not as another coins that its value could rise several times from initial price. personally when read it ,my sense interest decrease alot . investment will not give huge return if as stable coin, meanwhile libra coin have bigger potency than just it.

I agree with you, in my opinion if Libra is not a stable coin then I believe the price of Libra will definitely increase very high, because Libra is already very popular before Libra was launched and awaited by many investors (including me) to be used as an investment, but I was disappointed when I found out if Libra became a stable coin and of course it would make me unable to get big profits like investing in Bitcoin or altcoin if I invested in Libra.

Libra is already dead, it is rebranded as "Diem"
Where does the idea come from that a stablecoin is some form of investment. 100% certain to get less back (fees) as spent, plus security risks.

The change in the name of Coin Libra to Diem is the impact of pressure from regulators and world central banks who have concerns that the Libra coin can disrupt financial stability, erode control over monetary policy and threaten the privacy of its users, this is the reason Libra CEO changed the name of Facebook coin Although many people are looking forward to its launch, to be honest if I personally don't like the Libra coin because it is likely that the Libra coin will not be much different from other stablecoins that do not have active price movements in the market and it seems that the use of Libra coin will only be limited to making transactions payments and purchases and not as investment assets.

I don't think that rebrending would help Libra with launch because the project is still associated with Facebook. they should try to convince regulators in order to receive the permission for working in USA and Europe.

It was decided that Libra would be a stablecoin, so now volatility will not be a problem for Libra to launch, because there was a lot of pressure from US regulators about Libra before.
After becoming a stablecoin, Libra coin to be officially launched next year 2021, I believe this will be a trigger for bitcoin to go to the moon.

They want to move forward and they want to start fresh so they brand to something easy to understand, many people are not aware of this I have to research it online, fortunately there are a lot of articles that tells us they it's true

https://ph.news.yahoo.com/facebook-backed-libra-association-rebrands-144926629.html they also
Quote
made some key hires ahead of its launch.

Since it's stable coin volatility is not going to be an issue anymore. ans this is the main roadmap

So they don't mix many instrument of investment to create stablecoin as they stated in the past but just directly peg dollars for their coin.

Now it seems our market gonna be flooded with stablecoin. So many company including government trying the opportunity to create stablecoin right which might be good because it might arise blockchain system exposure. Maybe it's time to ride to blockchain developer train.

Even though I'm not a supporter of Libra, but I'm also curious if Libra actually launches. Will there be hype as predicted
by many people, considering that Facebook created Libra not as an investment. But it is planned to be used for payments
in the online world which is likely to replace the US Dollar.

Therefore from the beginning Libra had difficulty getting permission from the American government, but finally Libra was
successful in launching. To be honest, I was quite surprised to know this, but Facebook is smart about choosing moments
when the cryptocurrency world is gaining popularity. So this is indeed the right time for Libra to finally release.

I don't really know,
Will we get any benefit if Facebook Libra finally launches?
Or will there be a problem for Facebook users.
It would be an advantage if someone could tell a little more about this.

are you holding a crypto now ? if you hodl any you will get benefit because i think once it launches it will also have an effect to other crypto like what happened before to other coins when they launch and those coins are also back by big companies  . another thing you can benefit is if you purchase the coin because they will probably give early promotions which you can save some cash and by using that stable coin your getting the benefit of securing the value of your cryptos . if you wana know more info just click on the link provided by the op

To be honest, I was quite surprised to know this, but Facebook is smart about choosing moments

Libra (this time Diem) won't use the Facebook brand for its launch after failing the first launch. Diem will be an independent Facebook subsidiary. In fact, it won't affect the global crypto price, it will only increase the volume of crypto capital.

The estimated launch date for the token is already in January 2021. To meet regulatory requirements, the Diem system will comply with all Western sanctions.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/facebook-s-libra-to-reportedly-launch-in-january-2021-as-usd-stablecoin

"Following more than a year of scrutiny from global financial regulators, Libra will launch in a form of a United States dollar-backed digital currency, the Financial Times reported on Nov. 27"
I do not like their sudden rebranding and the name change to Diem because Libra was better name and it was already a brand in the market but this sudden change could signal something done due to pressure from regulators and in an effort to be compliant with them.

Facebook is launch their new coins to hold their online market. But it looks like they won't be able to play Libra with the dollar or crypt currency. Originally wanted to change the name to match the dollar. USD Stablecoin, adjusting to the dollar as well as trying to adjust with the crypt. But the name Libra was appropriate for Facebook.

No, whether this is true or not but rumors say that the Facebook company changed the name of the Libra coin to 'DIEM' Coins. this is the link: https://www.coindesk.com/libra-diem-rebrand

nice to hear that Libra launches in january 2021, but what i really regret is that they are stable coins,
of course my expectations about libra are completely wrong, i think Libra deserves to be invested in,
and I was wrong libra is not an investment coin.

Facebook has changed the name of their coin to Dime. And Dime will launch in a few days, Facebook said. They just wait for the approval department. It would be a stable coin like USDT. I personally hope Dime will play a much bigger role in the crypto market.

Some time ago Facebook claimed to launch Diem coin in January 2021 and of course this could change again if there were regulatory constraints by the American financial sector, but certainly the name change made by Facebook on their coin was one way to reassured regulators in the United States who were uncomfortable with the previous plans for a Libra coin launch.

It seems like Libra will be launched in 2021, but under a different brand, I don’t know if they will be able to do it, and also many partners no longer cooperate with Libra, so I don’t know what to expect from Diem, but of course the main thing to start with is to launch the Diem project, and then we will see.

What you expect from a stablecoin?
Take usd get usd equivalent minus fees, changing back take usd equivalent and get usd minus fees.
Usual inflation (purchasing power loss) of 2.3% per year on average plus added security risks
