Will the rise of altcoins eventually lead to the demise of Bitcoin? Ultimately Bitcoin has been tested and it has a place in the crypto world. Join our  discord https://discord.gg/pp7Jwsp9 for further discussions about this topic. Tell me what you think?
I see yfi already replace btc in price. Bitcoin is the mother of all cryptocurrency, the first of all cryptocurrency created for online cash system.

So that's not possible to takeover bitcoin in exchange of any altcoin. I think it's shit post to say bitcoin will ever be replaced. You can see bitcoin dominance on coinmarketcap is over 60%.

To some reasonable extent, the attention coming recently to the crypto space is targeted or seen to be towards Bitcoin, this is another proof that Bitcoin can not be replaced, but will keep getting stronger, while top altcoins will be growing and on their own.
And I don't think we should expect institutional investors to somehow begin to invest in altcoins anytime soon, institutional investors are simply too powerful and bitcoin is the only coin so far that can absorb the volume of their investments, even a coin like ethereum which has a massive market cap is many times smaller than bitcoin just on that metric but when we consider how many people are actually using bitcoin or ethereum to buy stuff over the Internet bitcoin has a massive advantage while ethereum is mostly used to speculate with other altcoins.

Anyone who looks at coinmarketcap can see where Bitcoin is located. I wouldn't say it's impossible to replace Bitcoin, but so much budget will have to slowly overcome many obstacles from other projects. The other coins in the market are only 25 percent of bitcoin. Those who do not have the ability to dominate Bitcoin.

until now bitcoin is still in the top ranking and still dominates the cryptoqurrency market, even today I haven't seen any altcoins that can replace bitcoin, so in my opinion it's not easy for new altcoins to replace the current domination of the crypto market.

YFI price is higher than btc but how can you address it as replace! You are right about the dominance of btc in crypto market. When any altcoins will take first place by overtaking btc then you can call it as replace. Currently bitcoin marketcap is more than 400 times of YFY marketcap.

In June 2017 Ethereum marketcap was so close to bitcoin marketcap for a while. But bitcoin has gain back strong position again shortly. So we can't deny the fact. Though I believe that altcoin won't replace bitcoin in future.

They could in some point have a higher price, but I don't really think altcoins will replace what gave them birth in the first place. Custom cryptocurrencies and altcoins derived from the main and first cryptocurrency, BTC. So I don't really think it is possible for them to top BTC.

People who will think that one among altcoins will replace Bitcoin someday is a crypto hater coz we all know that this thing is unique and special among cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin did exist for more than 10 years but never saw that one altcoin surpasses in terms of price. This simply means that Bitcoin has a huge market demand more than any cryptos in the market and people take this coin for they know that it will bring them good returns.

Even now bitcoin is single handedly dominating the crypto market with over 60 percent of market share which keeps moving up and down and historically we have seen it mostly in ranges of 35% to 90% but never ever we have felt that btc will be replaced by any alt because even with low market share it still remains the biggest coin in terms of market cap.

This is impossible since no altcoin can replace bitcoin,

Though there are altcoins that the price has a higher price than bitcoin, but still remains its position as top crypto in the market. Also, altcoins is just an alternative coin to the original which is bitcoin, even though bitcoin has a hogher fee and the transaction is slower than any other altcoins, it is not the reason for altcoins to replace bitcoin.

It has been more than 10 years that Bitcoin has never been beaten by altcoins, Bitcoin has always dominated the market.
Even Ethereum as the king of altcoins has never beat Bitcoin, and there have also been many altcoins created to replace
Bitcoin. But it all ended in failure, so the conclusion is that there will never be altcoins that can replace Bitcoin.

Seeing the domination of bitcoin for all over a decade I don't think that there is an altcoin/s that can replace and out-ranked bitcoin in the market. Though we cannot remove the fact that there is a possibility that altcoin can replace bitcoin but I think it will happen for many years from now. Nevertheless I think and rooting that bitcoin will still and always be the king of cryptos.

There has not been a single Altcoin that has been able to replace Bitcoin to date, because bitcoin is the king of Crypto, the dominance of bitcoin has never been doubted until now, this will be difficult for other altcoins to try to get ahead of bitcoin, because there are very many bitcoin enthusiasts compared to altcoin enthusiasts.

I positively think that no altcoin could replace bitcoin, not even ETH or XRP, because altcoins will remain an alternative digital currency for bitcoin until the end of its existence. Bitcoin has dominated the crypto market since the day it was created, or for over a decade; that is why there are no signs or possible reasons for altcoins can replace bitcoin from its dominance.

Bitcoin is the root of all coins and the father of crypto space over the years I've seen different altcoins with great potential coming into crypto space with high value and higher expectations but after 2-3 years the project is abandoned and the aitcoin dumped. Bitcoin has the biggest coinmarket cap, tested and trusted by many investors/countries. So probably no altcoin would replace bitcoin the only closest coin to bitcoin now is Ethereum in terms of value.

There are many different national currencies in the world, did the dollar defeat them all? Of course not.
Cryptocurrencies can also exist together to benefit different people.

The prediction on replacement is on the longterm, probably when the mining stops and nothing is attractive. Price may not be the determinant, some predicted some coins to compete with size of profit and pump more than bitcoin in this present market. Size of profit is attractive but not reliable, can such coin hold 50% of its value in the bear market and keep the community. Bitcoin has engaged more institution than any other coin and capable of keeping the trust.

I think that is impossible to happen because bitcoin its likely e-gold now some of 1st world country already accepted the bitcoin as store of value. I watched some news about bitcoin on CNN and I saw the first time of appearance the pair of USD/BTC on CNN. So it means the root of the bitcoin goes really deep.

That's a point, there are really deep root we can't dig into when talking about this technology called Bitcoin, and for anyone to talk altcoin could possibly replace the aforementioned coin look fallacy to my very honest opinion. Having a pump and dump coin called altcoin doesn't mean that such altcoin has over powered or over shadowed Bitcoin, we should always look into such coins usability if it surpasses that of Bitcoin original.

The impossible thing is being discussed by many people, if Altcoins can indeed replace Bitcoin as the king of digital currencies, why not before or in 2017 where altcoin growth was growing big in 2017, why are we only now discussing it, in my opinion not there is something that can replace Bitcoin as the king of Cryptocurrency until now, many coins or altcoins that have sprung up, none of which can replace Bitcoin at the top of Cryptocurrency, instead Altcoins have followed the growth of Bitcoin to date, I think it will not happen in the future that altcoins will replacing Bitcoin, that's just a joke in my opinion ...

Yes they can but first bitcoin will give an epic run and reach new highs after it settle downs  and the momentum shifts to the altcoins they will grow in market cap as well as the value so at that time altcoins will easily beat bitcoin as there dominancy will be way above the bitcoin and bitcoin will remain under stress for a while till market settles overall.
