Bitcoin had been number 1 in terms of market cap since it started, not even Ethereum is near Bitcoin in terms of market dominance. However, anything can happen in crypto, it might take a long time since Bitcoin is trusted by many and they never lose faith in it.

We know that crypto has the connotation of bitcoin not with Ethereum and other altcoins, from there it can be said that it will be difficult to exchange, let alone change positions, even though in crypto things that are impossible can happen but for bitcoin is an exception. I agree that belief in bitcoin is very difficult for anyone to change. It looks like crypto without bitcoin may be lost, so it will be difficult to replace.

This had been a continuous topic since Bitcoin remained number one for too long. Crypto is crypto no matter what and we should stop comparing any other crypto with BTC since each is uniquely created for different purposes.

I think what you are saying is wrong, because Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency, so if Bitcoin die then definitely altcoin will die too or even cryptocurrency will never exist again, so I thought as long as cryptocurrency was around, then Bitcoin will never die (will continue to survive), but I will join your discord group, because it seems nice to have a community that can talk about cryptocurrency.

Looking at the current strength of bitcoin, I am pretty sure that currently there is no altcoin that can replace bitcoin. However, the dominant upside, makes me think that people are currently focusing on bitcoin. There is a lot of reasons why altcoins will not replace Bitcoin no matter what happens. One of the answers I always say is that the fact that we are still calling altcoins "altcoins" means that it will stay an altcoin forever, an alternative coin to the main cryptocurrency which is Bitcoin. It is funny that some altcoins reason of existence is to "kill" bitcoin.

We should stop talking demise of Bitcoin but rather demise of some other coins like Ripple, Bitcoin is very much alive and this kind of thread should not have a place here at this point in time, why not talk about the demise of Ripple so we can have one centralized coin gone in the market, it's more hot topic than what you have in your title.

First of all it is really stupid to compare XRP with BTC, because there are hardly any similarities between the two. XRP is a decentralized token created by corporates, allegedly with ample support from the mainstream banks. On the other hand, BTC is a decentralized asset, created by someone who was vehemently against the exploitation by the mainstream banking community.

I believe your answer is the foundation for why Ripple has no prospects in relation to other cryptocurrencies. In addition, to date, Ripple has dropped to fourth place in coinmarketcap, and the holders of this coin must make a difficult decision.

Coming to the OP, i think the start of cryptos was done by Bitcoin.
So it will impossible for any coin to overcome it.
ETH has the potential but still BTC has it’s own fanbase.

I never think like that, because until whenever a child (altcoin) will never be able to replace the position of a father (bitcoin). Since it was first created, bitcoin has grown rapidly until now, until now there has been no altcoin that can replace bitcoin as the king of coins. But the probability is almost zero for this to happen, even it won't be seen in the long term. It can only happen if ethereum and other alt gets huge adoption by investors and bitcoin stay at the same point or get dump. This pattern won't occur, cause bitcion have large fan base than altcoins. So bitcion will always get the priority first during any bigger upward move of crypto market. Which will always keep bitcion ahead.

Not only that, when you talk about the popularity, no one can beat with bitcoin. Even noncrypto users if you mention crypto, the first thing that will come to their mind is bitcoin. Well.. the results are obvious apparently. Bitcoin has been in existence for over 12 years and the very first altcoin (Namecoin) was created a decade ago. If any of these altcoins had the capability to replace Bitcoin, then it could have happened many years back. Rather than facing competition from altcoin, Bitcoin market share is steadily increasing and large number of altcoins are going dead or dormant.

altcoins don't have to replace bitcoin. many of them have their own use cases that don't intersect with bitcoin ones. so altcoins will coexist with bitcoin and the future of every single altcoin depends on own its team.

Bitcoin is the king of the market. We found many altcoins were created to replace Bitcoin but all of them were ended up failing badly. Bitcoin is clearly dominating the market, I don't see any possibilities for any altcoins to beat Bitcoins. Pizza Hut has started accepting payment via BTC in Venezuela, South America. To keep the pace up with the market other restaurants like KFC, VEA, MIRAZUR will soon start to accept BTC. So I don't see any possibility for altcoins to replace Bitcoin.
