regardless of your point of view, bitcoin or altcoin is up to you. because you manage your own finances. all of them have the risk of either investing in bitcoin or in altcoin.
But, if you are just trapped and traumatized by the risk, then how long will you start. buy at your own pace, altcoins are also great if you can pick which one has the potential for fast volume. It depends on you trading using a long or short term strategy.

Altcoins are an order of magnitude more volatile, they are much more hyped in a sense that there's nothing backing their value - no adoption, no real development, no existing features. Altcoins hitting new highs is nothing remarkable, they just follow Bitcoin, except they perform worse than Bitcoin, as you can see in their declining Bitcoin price. If/when Bitcoin crashes, alts will crash even harder, so alts are anything but safe.

Staying with altcoins is a decision, your decision and can't be away bad but then, you've got to ensure you pick the right coin with great potentials and it would be of great benefit to realize the fact that, Bitcoin remains the Boss and the growth of other coins depends highly on Bitcoin. Hence, a devaluation on bItcoin would have also be reflected in the altcoins market. It's some worth like a direct relationship.

its really too early to say that BTC is gong to pop already we haven't seen altcoins beating ts all time high.  remember distinctly that LTC s worth more than $300 n the last bullrun so we are not there yet. altcoins would have to beat ts all time high as well before you start worrying when it will pop. but like they are saying the cryptocurrency space today s very different than what it was back 2017 due to the adoption.

On the other hand, Most altcoin down so huge and some are scams or valueless.But if you pick the right time and coin hope you can change life. It will be more painful if the trend of BTC continue because BTC dominance will increase which means altcoins will dump more. BTC just recently broke the historical resistance of 20K USD which means there is no known resistance so far.

I guess you may regret this decision, bitcoin has more potential than altcoin when it comes to gaining profit. Dont know on where you do get this kind of idea but it doesnt really fit out that criteria and always think that altcoin markets price do correlate sometimes with bitcoins price movement.
