Don't forget that some people were selling this year at 5k Wink You really could make much worse trades than selling at 17k in 2017.

I am someone who sold a part of my holdings in 2015 for $250 per coin. I was facing some financial difficulty and I had to sell some of my coins so that I could pay the utility bills on time. That said, I don't regret any of my decisions. Selling at $250 per coin is much better than never investing in Bitcoin. Even at $250 per coin, I didn't incurred any loss as my purchase price was much lower.

Everything has happened and time cannot be turned back, with a new ATH reached in bitcoin, be prepared if something doesn't go your way, because the market is very volatile, don't force your way in if you don't understand it.
because I've seen people who enter during Fomo whose beliefs change 180 degrees when they experience a loss.

Do you guys have any suggestions on the best, most secure way to purchase and store BitCoins without getting scammed or hacked Huh

If you are going to trade a lot and then exchanges would a better choice. I am not actively trading but I bet popular exchanges are safe. Binance maybe? Hence if you are hodling for the longterm then consider buying a hardware wallet. I have a hardware wallet myself and I transfer funds to exchanges only if "the price is right  Wink" to sell.

If there is a local based wallet which is totally legit and widely used in your country then that would be the best option. Whether it is custodial or non custodial, it doesn't matter since you are guaranteed that it was legit. But pick the latter one as much as possible.

Though you missed and opportunity to make a lot of profits, it still not too late for you. You can catch up and hoard bitcoins now. And this time I hope you will no longer doubt. But of course your journey won't be so ideal all the time, prepare for the worst especially that btc's bubble will burst soon (maybe 1st quarter next year, just a maybe tho). However, as long as you keep holding then you are not technically losing, good luck Cheesy.

The regret that you experience is experienced by many people, because surely no one expected Bitcoin to go up this far this year.
Unfortunately the time machine doesn't exist, so we can't go back in time by buying Bitcoin when it was cheap. If we regret not being
able to buy Bitcoin at a low price, we can learn from our mistakes. Start collecting Bitcoin from now, because I believe the price of Bitcoin
in 2020 will be cheaper than Bitcoin in the next 5 years. It's possible that Bitcoin could hit the price of $ 100,000 by 2025.

Don't worry, though.  I'm sure they'll revert back to their regularly scheduled FUD format as soon as the situation permits them.

It really is easy to get caught up in short-term panic/FUD, especially with bitcoin and crypto. I like to read back at some of OP's comments that were floating around six months ago or evan before that - this is the end, get out, bitcoin is a bubble, it's all going down to zero - and yet it didn't happen.
Bitcoin will revert to its intrinsic value of near ZERO !!!

And now he's trying to share his 'wisdom' with us, again, as a convert? Yeah, right!

@HardFacts, time to stop pretending. Everybody knows what you really are.

What is that "Intuitional Money" you're talking about? I don't believe I've ever heard of that concept before.

Intuitional Money is a very often used and well known term in the investment world.  The explanation in the link below explains it better than I could. It is important for BitCoin, because this will increase the amount invested many times over.

https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/06/institutionalinvestor.asp

It's really Unusual that You are now Talking like this. Things that "Important for bitcoin"

Regrets are always in last. If you just believe when there are people told you to invest bitcoin, you are in good hands now. Well, in order for you to overcome your regrets, you have to become risk taker. You need to fight back your fear of losing someone or something because at the end of the day, when your risks work you will become successful. Bitcoin pump may be a proof that cryptocurrency is good when it comes to profit and bitcoin will never broke what we expect for it.

So what have you done to recover your regret ? I will advice you to buy bitcoin now and hold it for one year. If you did not buy it now then in december 2021, you will be regretting again that you did not buy it at 27000$ and it is $200,000 in 2021 end.

Yeah. Totally agree with you. I did bought Facebook stock at 18$ in 2013, sold it around 25$. But now it's 267$. You will never know what will happen in 5-10 years in Bitcoin. But I'm pretty sure it will hit more than right now in next few years.

IMO, it will be better to wait for the next correction, rather than to accumulate the coins at the current level. The prices have gone up by quite a lot during the past few months, and at some point we can expect heavy profit booking from those who purchased the coins at ~$10,000 level. I am not sure when this correction may happen, and how much the prices are going to fall, but waiting for a few more weeks (or even months) would be a better idea.

So you sold right when I heard about Bitcoin and started buying. Of course I don't know what I'd do had I been in the space since 2013 or earlier. There's no point in crying over spilt milk. I also had my times of doubt when we broke below 5k in 2018 and I thought that this might be the end but I said fuck it, I'll ride it all the way down. Got a bit angry at the market and took a break for almost a year from reading the news and posting on this forum. It helped me to get a better perspective and understand what I really expect from this investment.

It is not really surprising anymore to see people telling their regrets about the things that they should have done early this year. It is easy to regret actually but the thing is we would only do things that depends on our prediction. We could've done things differently if we've seen through that bitcoin's value will rise this high at the end of the year. If you are one of those who didn't prepare properly because you never thought things would end up this way, stop wasting your time on regret, do something that may benefit you while the price of bitcoin is still sky high, for syre there's a way.

I agree. If you still feel confident about Bitcoin, then go ahead and purchase some. Even those who made their purchase at ATH levels in 2017 are in 30% profit now. There is a chance that you may need to wait for a few years, but eventually you will end up with good profit. And this is much better choice than whining about wasting the opportunity to purchase Bitcoin at cheap rates.

so I think that despite their merits there is an argument to be made that you should instead always store your coins without the help of a third party that can identify you if you are serious about your privacy.

That sounds good, but what exactly do you recommend to accomplish this ??   I thought a hardware wallet was best and safest way to store BitCoins, but if a hardware wallet is not the best,  what is ??

I also regretted the same thing, in March I really want to invest that tome because I am a believer in the world of crypto especially bitcoin, I know that it can recover from falling but unfortunately, I wasn't able to invest because I don't have enough money that time because of being jobless. Things are getting better for bitcoin, it is still not too late to buy and invest for the long term.
You can buy bitcoin in a legit nd big exchanges, there are so many exchanges there, you may do it with binance or in bitcoin ATM.

All this issues occur, when people want quick profits. If you plan to remain invested for the long-term, then these temporary dips and spikes are not going to change your investment strategy. And especially with Bitcoin, those who have remained invested for more than 3-4 years have been rewarded quite handsomely. And that is the reason why I advise the newbies to accumulate as many coins as they can, even at the current levels. In the next few years, you will be definitely end up with a significant amount of profit.

hhhhh...maybe you can write all the words in the password in a piece of paper and keep it in a book, which is supposed to be put on the ceiling...will it be safe enough? My advice is that you can't put the words online cause the hackers are skilled and canny Undecided

Storing them online is out of question. You need to store them offline, but not in the conventional way. This is what you can do - you can write down the password or private key in a piece of paper. After this is done, you can tear it to two equal parts and then store each of these pieces at different locations. Even if a thief gets hold of one piece, he won't be able to access your wallet, as it doesn't contain the complete pass phrase.
