About a month ago on November 23, I bet 0.14 BTC on the De Jong - Altmirano tennis challenger match which was going to start the next day at around 11am, with De Jong winning at 2.6 odds. However, a few hours later something interesting happened where he drastically dropped from 2.6 to a 1.2-1.3 favorite.

This then gave me a few options:

1. Cash out in full for around 0.238 BTC (0 risk and guaranteed instant reward of nearly 0.1 BTC)
2. Not cash out at all with a chance to win 0.364 BTC (100% risk and 0 guarantee of winning)
3. Cash out partially for whatever amount I wanted while still keeping the bet open (less risk and less return/reward, a nice balance of the 2)

So I decided to go with option #3 and partially cash out my bet for 0.1394 BTC to get my initial back, while keeping the remainder amount open at 2.6 odds to potentially win the full bet if De Jong won the match. That remainder amount was 50% of the bet, with a stake of 0.067 BTC left at 2.6 odds to potentially win 0.174 BTC if De Jong wins.

The next day I was watching over the match, and thankfully De Jong won it pretty comfortably 6-2 6-4.

So I go on my account super excited to receive the win, and 1 hour later nothing shows up. So I reach out to support, and they tell me that apparently, I got an email a few hours before the match that they decided to "cancel" the match because of a change of odds, and that my win would not count.

I was and still am in complete shock about this, because odds in tennis change all the time and it is never a valid reason to cancel a match in advance. This is what their email said:

"Dear EpicChamp,

This is to inform you that   game coefficient  was  changed  from 2.6  to 1.7. Therefore, you  bet was cancelled .
Sorry  for the  inconvenience and wish   you  the best of  luck!"

First off, besides the terrible grammar, this is a complete lie because De Jong was never given 1.7 odds of winning this match on ANY betting site the entire time. After his odds dropped from over 2.6 he was ALWAYS universally below 1.3 across all other sites too. So it seems as though they just randomly came up with 1.7 out of the blue because that was never the case.

Second, it is complete bs to just cancel the entire bet right before the match simply because of a change of odds. Odds change all the time in tennis and other sports in general, and it is not my fault that he was first posted at really good odds and then dropped because maybe they realized he was actually the better player. So because I was able to make the bet in time at great odds, I 100% deserve to win this bet with my remaining stake of 0.067 BTC at 2.6 odds for 0.174 BTC. This is the most fair and right thing to do, and EVERY other gambling site that had this bet on that day, honored this bet and rewarded people who bet on De Jong their full money. I know this because I had some friends who used another site for the same match and they were rewarded for it DESPITE the drastic change of odds.

Yet for some reason FortuneJack refuses to do this to honor fair play, and does not bother explaining the reason behind it. I've never had this happen to me before, and all other gambling sites haven't canceled this bet/match for their users either.

But EVEN WORSE than canceling my bet last minute and preventing me from winning 0.174 BTC, they decided to go ahead and KEEP the remaining balance that I had on this bet of 0.067 BTC to themselves as well.

So not only are they not counting my bet as a win, but now they also refuse to return to me the remaining 0.067 BTC that I had left on this bet from the night before at 2.6 odds.

I have been contacting them about this for over a month now, and they don't seem to care or do anything about it. All they are telling me is that this is their final decision and that's it.

At this point I feel totally cheated & completely robbed of my money, and I don't understand how something like this can ever be acceptable.

If they gave me the option to partially cash out my bet the night before and still be able to keep a large portion of it in play for a chance to win the bet at 2.6 odds, just like any other regular bet, then they should honor that bet and count it as a win. As simple as that.

And if they decided to bend the rules in their favor and purposely cancel this bet 2 hours before the match was about to start, then at the BARE MINIMUM they need to return to me the remaining amount which they are refusing to do.

So right now I am really not sure what else I do, and I wanted to bring this up to let everyone know how shady FortuneJack is and how they cannot be trusted with their bets at all; as well as your thoughts on what should be my next steps from here to fix this.

0.067 BTC and 0.174 BTC are equivalent to $2300 USD and $6100 respectively. Maybe if this was in the low hundreds I wouldn't have cared as much, but what they are doing is completely wrong & unethical in so many ways. In fact, I should at least get back ~0.1 BTC (~$3500), because that is how much I would have gotten the day before if I cashed out my bet in full for 0.238 BTC.

It's almost as if they can just do whatever they want and you have no say whatsoever, even if they are completely wrong and you have a lot of evidence + logical reasoning to back your case.

I really hope something can be done about this and not just let them get away for their shady way of doing business and running their site.

This is not a proper cancellation especially if your bet has been accepted already, they can cancel the game if in case you haven't bet yet or the game hasn't started yet.

I didn't know their TOS yet but in my view it is not a proper way to handle your winnings especially if you successfully make your bet. If they are doing it also to other players then it will be good if you will avoid using that platform anymore as the problem will surely to continue if you will continue to stay there.

And lastly, it will be good if you can drop some evidence also here like the screenshot of your bet history and other details that can help you to pursue this allegation against fortunejack platform.

You are in the wrong board and you may forgot to check this sections pinned post. I have just seen another similar thread on scam accusation and that was enough for your issue.

Why are publishing same topic on different board?

I definitely have screenshots to prove it and would be more than happy to show it as proof to support my case.

And I absolutely agree that if they made a mistake and made these odds available, then they need to honor those who managed to take advantage of it in time and not just cancel it right before the match is about to start. They had the whole night to potentially cancel it, yet they chose to do it 2 hours before the match was gonna start with a completely bs and invalid excuse - just absolutely terrible practice.

I am definitely not planning to bet with them again unless they change their decision and reward me my winning bet (or at least return the remaining amount).

No worries, I am new here and wasn't exactly sure where to post this so I posted under 2 categories which made sense to me. I just wanted more people to know about this situation and avoid FortuneJack at all costs because of their shady way or running their betting site.

I also saw a previous post about a similar gambling scenario being posted on the gambling section, and thought it would make sense to include it here too.

Anyways, I am a very fair persona and always tend to do the right thing when needed, so when something like this happens to me it really puts me off and I just want to help others avoid the same scenerio.

If it is in the terms and conditions, then I give you little chance in this matter. Fortunejack is an established name with a license, I can't imagine they would cheat for such a thing.
If that number from the odds was really way too high, you can expect that they will cancel it.

What time did you place the bet? Looking at OddsPortal, it seems like a few books opened with a line around 1.22 at about 2 AM UTC. Pinnacle opened at 7 AM. If you placed the bet after a few other books had lines around 1.22 up, I think FortuneJack would have a reasonable argument that it was an odds error. I also don't know where they got the 1.7 from that they mentioned in the email; OddsPortal seems to agree with your claim.

At the very least, if voiding it could be justified, FortuneJack should owe you 0.006BTC.

The match was supposed to start on November 24 either at 10 or 11am EST, and I made this bet the evening before around 7:30pm EST. Funny enough he was actually first given around 3.0 odds around 6:30pm when I first saw it, but by the time I transferred my BTC and decided I was going to make my biggest ever bet online, he already dropped to 2.6

(I also wasn't even planning to use FortuneJack to bet, but it was my last resort after my other 2 main BTC gambling sites I normally used had a very low limit on this bet at only $100-200.)

Then 1 or 2 hours later the odds drastically changed, and I was given the option to either cash out in full for 0.238 BTC or partially cash out for whatever amount I wanted, while still keeping the bet open at 2.6 odds. That's when I decided to cash out only around 50% of the bet, and keep the remaining 50% at 2.6 odds for a chance to win 0.174 BTC.

If that number from the odds was really way too high, you can expect that they will cancel it.

It is not in the terms & conditions. Their "reasoning" is complete bs and makes absolutely no sense.

First, they emailed me and stated the odds changed from 2.6 to 1.7 as their reasoning for canceling the bet, which is false and doesn't make any sense because tennis matches and other sports never get canceled because of a regular swing of odds. Besides, 2.6 to 1.7 is not uncommon and surely isn't even that big of a difference to cancel a bet. I cannot count how many times that happened on a match I made a bet on and it NEVER got canceled because of that.

And now they are claiming it was a "technical" error which also doesn't make any sense because if it was, they would have frozen the match & adjusted the odds right away, but instead, De Jong started above 3.0 and they kept slowly dropping him by 0.2 units every 30mins for 2-3 hours.

It also cannot be a technical error because the odds at the time were not too unreasonable, and I can give you 10+ reasons for why it would make sense for his opponent to have been the favorite to win this match instead.

It's not like a Roger Federer vs Fernando Verdasco grass-court match where Federer "accidentally" got listed at 5.0 odds of winning instead of say 1.2-1.3 like he was intended at initially. No one can say, support or back up Verdsaco ever being a huge favorite to beat Federer on a grass court in any way. So that would be a much better example of a ""technical" error that is a complete accident; but definitely not in this situation where De Jong being given 2.6 odds is not that unreasonable considering the circumstance and his opponent.

They had absolutely no right to cancel my bet, and then they had the audacity to also count it as if it was a "loss" and keep all the remaining stake to themselves as well which NEVER happens when a bet gets canceled. The amount is always returned to the bettor in full regardless of the reasoning for the cancelation.

I mean what was the point of even offering me the option to cash out in full for 0.238 btc, or partially for whatever % I wanted if they knew they were going to cancel my bet either way right before the match and keep everything that was left to themselves?

How is that fair or ethical in any way, shape or form?

It's like giving your best friend an expensive gift for their birthday (like a brand new iPhone) with them graciously accepting it, and then a few days later FORCEFULLY taking it away from their hands & keeping it to yourself without their permission or consent (aka stealing) because you both got into some stupid argument. However, the MOMENT you gave your best friend that brand new iPhone, it is now 100% their asset, and taking it away from them in a forceful manner without their permission or consent does not only break all moral, ethical, and social rules - but all FORMAL rules too as it is 100% ILLEGAL and would be considered stealing, where you can be put in jail for that.

That's exactly what FortuneJack is doing here.

How can they possibly operate in such a shady & deceiving manner and literally steal people's money like this when they VOLUNTARILY gave them the option to partially cash out their bet and keep the remaining stake open is just beyond me. It crosses all lines & boundaries and is simply unacceptable.

But ultimately, my bet should 100% count as a win and I deserve to get paid the full amount for 0.174 BTC fair & square for picking the right player to win this match.

(And trust me that if he had lost the match, I would have never brought this up and peacefully moved on just like I always do anytime I lose a bet)

Fortunejack is an established name in crypto gambling world. So it's highly unlikely that they will scam you for a miniscule amount of 0.174 bitcoin. You can get in touch with their official representative in bitcointalk.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=303298

Or you can post your concern on their official thread to get support.

They are usually very fast in responding so that's a good way to communicate!

I know that, which makes this whole scenario even more surprising to me as I would have never expected THEM (of all bitcoin gambling sites) to operate in such an unethical and deceiving manner.

I have sent them a personal message on here a few days ago and they still haven't replied.

I have sent them a reply to their 1 & only response on another thread and they never replied since.

And I have sent them multiple emails from a few weeks ago which they keep ignoring and haven't gotten back to me.

I will try to comment on their own thread and hopefully will get a response - thank you!

I did not expect such terrible customer service from them and complete unprofessionalism about operating their site & treating their users.

It really is sad how anyone can operate in such a deceiving manner and do whatever they want just because it's their "site" as if there are no rules at all or only rules that go in their favor.

It's like they're willing to do whatever it takes to avoid paying & losing a bet, and then try to completely ignore the whole thing and run away from this case as if it never happened.

If FortuneJack does not reward me my winning bet, or at the very least pay me back my remaining stake - I will NEVER recommend or say good things about them to anyone, and continue bending over their reputation for life just like they are bending over all their rules to avoid paying me my deserved amount.

I am usually never like this, but this just crosses all boundaries and is completely unacceptable. It is theft & robbery at its finest.

I highly suggest you to move this topic to the Scam Accusations board. And hopefully some FJ officials can clarify (their side of the story) what happened and why they decided to cancel your bet and keep your remaining funds.

-edit- or never mind, I see they have replied on their official thread. Sad they don't reply here, but they rather do it on their self-moderated thread.

I have made a thread on there as well, and they replied to me only once blaming their "odd provider" for providing the wrong odds and that's it.

But they were the ones who ultimately decided to cancel my bet and not return my remaining stake, and refuse to take ANY responsibility for their actions & behavior. It's as if they think this is acceptable or can care less.

I also responded to that message multiple times and they haven't replied back since.

FortuneJack's official statement regarding the case can be accessed within our main thread.

Kind request to the mods: as the same thread is already opened into the 'Scam Accusations' category, would it be possible to close the extra ones, as multiple and yet active discussions mislead the community, cause all the information gets burned down while the members are sharing their feedback.

I highly suggest you to move this topic to the Scam Accusations board. And hopefully some FJ officials can clarify (their side of the story) what happened and why they decided to cancel your bet and keep your remaining funds.

I honestly don't understand your problem. What's so weird about how Fortunejack has acted? Their odds were too high in relation to what the odds was worth. Bookmakers always reserve the right to change odds, you see that more often. If you place a bet with odds of 2.7 and then place 1.6 or something in that price, then wouldn't it make sense for them to cancel it? You gained an unfair advantage there with a bet.
Let's turn the tables in your case, you make a bet on 1.3 and that odds turn out to go to 2.6 later, what would you think? Then you think that that is not correct and you also want it to be canceled. 1.3 is a tough favorite to win, unlike 2.6
You can keep going on about this, but Fortunejack has acted logically and correctly in this situation. You better leave it behind and focus on the future.

I think it's safe to say that you don't do any online sports betting.

I cannot count the number of times that odds have greatly changed for a match or player I bet on in the past (for better or worse), yet the match has never been canceled because of that - not once. And some other people on here have agreed and said the same thing where it has never happened to them either.

Also, they initially claimed in the email that it changed from 2.6 to 1.7, which is an even less significant difference compared to 1.3 and makes it even more illogical for them to cancel the bet because of that.

Besides that, it is outside my control and not my fault that they decided to open my player at these odds (in fact he was even 3.0 and 2.8 before I got him at 2.6). I can also come up with many reasons as to why it would make sense for him to be an underdog and for his opponent to be a 1.4-1.5 favorite to win instead, and at the time it did not feel like this was an accident or mistake or that he was given the wrong odds unintentionally.

At the end of the day, everyone gets slightly different odds when they bet on someone before the match starts, and odds change all the time. But never do matches get canceled because of a change of odds, esp when it isn't that significant.

Also in the past there have been countless cases where bookies actually made some very big mistakes and posted heavy favorites players or teams as underdogs by accident for a very brief period of time (like a Federer vs Verdasco grass/hardcourt match where Federer is posted at 7.0+ odds of winning instead of 1.17 like he was intended to), where some people quickly saw it and deliberately took advantage of it while knowing it was a big mistake/unintentional odds, and yet they still got paid thousands of dollars after winning that kind of bet because of the bookie's mistake.

But in my case it was nothing like that and in my opinion, it was a very even match where it was hard to pick a clear favorite in advance. I also wouldn't have been surprised if both were around the 1.8-1.9 mark each because choosing the right player to win was unpredictable and anything could have happened.

Thankfully it just went my way on that day and the player who I bet on won the match.

If it is in the terms and conditions, then I give you little chance in this matter. Fortunejack is an established name with a license, I can't imagine they would cheat for such a thing.
If that number from the odds was really way too high, you can expect that they will cancel it.

It is not in the terms & conditions. Their "reasoning" is complete bs and makes absolutely no sense.

I doubt you have read Fortunejack's terms and conditions. If you walk through them, you can see clearly that they reserve the right to cancel a bet at any time. The change/movement of the odds suits perfect in these rules from their terms. You blame users not to gamble because they post that Fortunejack is right. Do you ever gamble yourself? An experienced gambler always reads the general terms and conditions first, and he knows that the general terms and conditions are binding at all times. What Fortunejack has done is fair and also makes perfect sense.
Seems like a clear story and that should make an end to the discussion.
