I have long read the best investment tactic is to never buy when the price is climbing.

BUT alas!

It first crossed 20, then 22, then 27, then 30, then 32!! Then now it's nearly around 35 and I wanted to take a little risk.

The only graph I see flattening is "Bitcoin graph"

Reason I did invest right now:

The vaccination is on the way
The market is going to improve soon
Some people have already started getting them
With the improvement in market the investors will pool in
The price will rise further!!
Even if we see some minor dips I do believe that they will be sorted out in a matter of weeks , because right now I do think bitcoins successfully captured the sights of the industries and the investors.

Am I the only one who brought bitcoins right now ??

I actually took risk in my life for the fist time, 2020 have been risky enough, even getting milk and groceries meant you were at the risk of getting COVID and approximately 5% chance that you gonna die. So I thought why now ?

I know it's not a wise decision for sure because I would have to take those savings out soon in a matter of months since for our country there is no such thing as stimulus! Therefore till the lockdown completes the responsibilities have to be taken care of.

What do you think is going on with the market ?

$40K wall will be eaten sooner or later. Some people have been calling for BTC at $100K since last year and it's not far fetched anymore when we saw institutional investors buying in huge volumes.

BTC can move sideways at times but it will never have a stable price since nobody controls it.

I tried to find the right time to buy but it always stressed me out. I just do DCA since a few months ago and the current price doesn't really bother me or tempt me that much to buy more. I'd stick with my plan and manage my assets with little to no distraction.

If you're it in for the long term, I guess buying now or later with DCA doesn't really matter, as long as you only spend the amount of money you can afford to lose.

Indeed, making this decision was much more effective than expecting more in spite of the fact that it would have cost the $ 40,000 that many had estimated. I sell bitcoins for $ 33,000. At least you are honest, however, I don't think that we have reach the top yet. Yes, predicting the market is very difficult that's why we have our own opinion. While majority really see that we are going to see another massive bull run this year, while for sure there are others opinion that we can go down similar to 2018 because we have reach the ceiling. No one can say how far we're going in this bull run, if someone can predict the price accurately, then for sure they'll have a lot of profits in the future. What we're sure is that Bitcoin price will surely continue to rise, that's why countries and even some people are in the FOMO fever right now because they are slowly realizing that investing their money in Bitcoin is much better than putting it in bank.

I'm not taking the risk these days, I did an early sell off some of my BTC before it reaches $20k and sold the left amount at $25k.
I'm not expecting the market got crazy like this and probably because I was so blind and not to see people are buying more. But somehow I feel no regrets by then, I've gained some profit already, and that was enough.

It's the time to sell bitcoin since correction might occur in the next few days and it'll be a huge loss for you. It's not the right time to buy bitcoin, it'll be worthless soon, too much risk on the line but who knows, it might still resist until $50k. The practical way is they should wait for the correction so we can buy bitcoin at a low price and wait for many years again.

I have the exact same thought. I thought it's gonna plummet when it hit the 21K mark but apparently I was wrong. And I'm still anxious to buy since it's already fluctuating between 29K and 34K. So, it will take a lot of courage for anyone who failed to buy early last year to buy now.

Apparently, you're not the only one. Because it wouldn't have shot up that high if no one else is buying. But I bet many of those buyers have been buying and holding since last year so their risks are manageable.

I thought there was consensus that BTC is likely to surpass $100k soon and $500k+ within 5 years due to all the institutional buyers coming in. Yes people are buying and this make sense because bitcoin is making a new ath during each week. Imagine you see this topic a month ago, I remember people were saying buying bitcoin above 15K doesn't make any sense and it's against the risk management rules. Now, bitcoin is near to 40K and they feel regret. Since we are one a uptrend movement and there is no reason for price fall, people will still buy because they are holding bitcoin for long term.

Some would say it would be foolish to invest at this point and there will lso be people who will push investing due to the momentum of this market. But the real deal is to how will you respond to what you are seeing right now. Investing could either give you profit or loss. What's best is to make your own analysis in order to not regret whatever you are planning to do right now. If you will make an action based on the opinion of other people in this industry, and the other way around happened behind your expectations, it will be harder than the usual. On the time we had able to buy in again then we must always consider or looking for price pullback specially if you do go for short term then that would be a good choice rather than risking
when it was still somewhat on peak price even though we cant really precisely tell if its on the top or not but our own guts and intuition do really mix up on that time.

If you subscribe to the Dollar Cost Averaging theory, you should continue buying even at the peak and investing the same amount as usual. There's a chart by Blockchain center called the Bitcoin Rainbow chart. It's interesting that even when prices reached "It's a bubble territory" it eventually ends up as cheap by the next year. Personally, I think it's still a good time to be investing, but I would not say it's a good time to take your life savings and dumping into Bitcoin.

You are most likely to win in the long term with this. It's nice to read Dollar Cost Averaging rather than a straight up "NO since it's too high and wait for correction". Successful traders and investors have also shared that this is "easiest" way or less stressful.

The market is way overbought already. The market is reaching prices beyond our expectations. The market is completely controlled by the bulls.
40k Resistance as of this moment is considered very conservative. Yes we will pass this and possible that it will happen anytime this month with the current trend of Bitcoin.
This is the question that I will ask again if it surpasses the $40,000 resistance. TBH, knowing when this bull run will end is very hard to know since we can't see any resistances right now. Lets just wait for Bitcoin to consolidate at least and we can tell which will be the resistance.

                          Just an update:
I was able to earn around 130$ through just holding and then I decided to encash them since for me that was enough for the time being and I was really glad that I was able to at least earn enough to support for half of the month.
I know bitcoins is going to cross our psychological barrier of 40,000$ but at the same time seeing all those articles where people are hoping that bitcoins might cross 100000$ therefore I believe if someone wants to take a risk then they should maybe go halfway. Take risks but don't be too greedy.
I might again invest more once I get some more savings in the upcoming days. Hope that everyone here is earning some passive income as well.
It's been amazing knowing bitcoins, this indeed is the only thing that helped my family, my studies and my rescue animals.
Plus I do think it would be a nice idea to invest in ETH also since they are the best trading pair and right now I believe it would be amazing for ETH too.

To be frank in my own opinion, buying at such price is way to high unless you are already prepared to hold for long term if it later goes against your predictions. I might be wrong but I think those who are buying in large amount are whales and/or Institutional investors, and these sort of buyers are already prepared for long term holding, so anyone who is ready for that, can take the risk but as for me, I think it is the best time to sell or monitor the market closely to know when to sell. Also, from the look of things, Bitcoin tends to have more chances  to grow and achieve a new ATH, but that is just predictions which might not work or still work; hence the best way is, if you are ready for the ride and risk, then go ahead, if you are not then look elsewhere.

I'm glad you got out when you felt good about your profits. Nothing wrong with that. Not everyone will or needs to stay in the market until it hits $500k or $1 million or whatever. But you're gonna miss the vast majority of the bull market, and if your plan is to get back in lower than you sold, you aren't ever getting back in.

$10k, even $20k, are long gone. I've said it on here before, the worst possible time to sell, other than the bottom of a bear market, is right when the price hits the peak of the previous cycle (which was right where you sold), because hitting that old peak is the start of the next exponential move upwards which means you miss immediate massive gains by selling at that point. Case in point, you already missed about 100% gains in less than a month, and this is only the beginning of this bull run.

Just like by the time Bitcoin hit $3000 in 2017, $1000 was long gone. These are the real things that we should be aiming at instead of selling but that is lost on so many people. I agree that 35k is definitely the magic number. If you check what is going on with the price of bitcoin, that 35k was the point where we broke down and after that it turned a correction into stable price at around 30k, when in fact we were expecting it to just simply go down and up after the correction.

In any case we are talking about bitcoin here, I can't really say this will happen or that will happen, anything could happen and we may never know, it could go to 35k+ price and crash back under 30k who knows?

It is just that we have seen the charts and we have seen the numbers and support and resistance and we know what bitcoin "should" do and what "should" happen if one thing happens, this is why I believe it is going to be going 40k+ if it goes to 35k+ but I can't guarantee anything like that. There's nothing wrong spending your money to your family's basic needs. I think that is actually great.
We can always find money in our lifetime but the time spent with family is not replaceable.

That is the only reason why I would be fine with selling as well. I do not like to sell my currencies just to take out profit, that is really not a good reason in my point of view because if I sell to take out my profit and if you sell and the other one sells if we all sell to take out our profits eventually there wouldn't be any profits to be taken very soon. This is exactly why I am not really in support of selling to take out profit.

However one more thing, if you want to sell and use that money to have a good time with your family, that is a great thing. I had a friend who had about 100 bitcoins from very very early days of bitcoin world, he sold it at 20k and now that it is 40k he feels a bit sad, but with that money he made from selling at 20k (in 2017) he bought a house and he paid all his debts and put some aside for interest and future of his children, now that is a very very good reason to sell.

Buying right now? why not looking with good news every day I think get much profit if wanna buy now, maybe still wait early when good moment coming because bitcoin and altcoin looks stable price, when bitcoin or altcoin success raise to higher price this best time for buying and keep touch with much profit pump above 50% or 100%.

I'm not buying anything at this point. I went all in early on and after the first bull market I've decided to slowly move from bitcoin to fiat with every big bull market. It's not because I want to get rid of my coins but because I'm aware of Bitcoin cycles and I don't want to get stuck being all in for 2 or 3 years of a bearish cycle. That said, I'm still planning to keep 90% of my coin investments regardless of what happens with the price now. I don't expect it to go lower than 19k in the worst scenario, and I held at 19k, so not much will change in that department If it comes that low I'll buy with 50% of my realised profits from this cycle and have the same number of bitcoins that I had in 2020.

Actually it was our decision that makes matter , either buying in falling prices of in growing ? the thing is our capacity and our trust in the currency we will be Investing  so if we can afford waiting and holding ? the chance of profit is 100% for sure but of course this will take time .

You are right, whales still do what they do best, they manipulate the price and here we are riding on it.

That's why it's important to understand and accept that anytime there will be a sudden price dump or pump, we just need to make sure we make the right decision and we always at the right side. As an investor, we can always benefit on any price movement, that if we will use our initiative and believe that the market will never crash.

Indeed, we cant certainly predict the next movement of bitcoin and its not wise to go with the flow by buying even at peak price. We must have plan on when to engage ourselves, we need to be more careful and set aside our emotions.

I already set my mind to only buy during price decline thus no matter how high the price consistently be its not a reason for me to break what I used to do when it comes to buying bitcoin or altcoins.

Through all the "normal turmoil" of he last month Bitcoin is still following its
Stock To Flow model, and this values Bitcoin at around $100,000 towards the
end of the year so this addresses the questions of the OP

What do you think is going on with the market ?

Its above a weekly average and while it remains so its a viable trade as trending positively.   With a stop loss, its reasonable to trade this, the target downside isnt that much lower then here despite subdued sentiment its reasonable to expect rises medium term can lead to speculative gains here.

Another point of view is that it is said to best buy when it is going down, not do not buy when it is going up, those are very different two things. You should buy when it is going down, you could buy when it is going up as well but that is "could" and "should" difference, you "should" do one but you "could" do the other.

I would say if you bought bitcoin when it was going down in march, you would have made a ton of profit, I mean literally 10x increase in your investment, if you bought after 20k? You would have made 2x. That means you would be doing a risky investment and in one of them you make 10x whereas in the other you make 2x return. Obviously both of them are profitable and you definitely would want to profit like that, who says no to a 2x increase but when there is the 10x option that is obviously a much better option than the latter one.

You are lucky to be able to earn from a surprising increase from XRP, you should always prepare yourself because opportunities sometimes pass quickly but you including the lucky ones because you did.

of course you have to prepare a lot of funds if you buy bitcoin today, because in 2 consecutive days bitcoin creates ATH. and now it is in the position of $ 51K + and the possibility will increase of course it could happen again any time.
