I'd say that you should have a specific percent of your investments portfolio allocated to Bitcoin, but remember that anything you see in this forum is not meant to be financial advice. Keep that percentage in check so if anything happens to your BTC holdings it won't affect you too bad. In other words, get your emotions out of this game.
Most of the posts here are biased obviously. You need to establish why do you want to put your money into BTC. You can't say you're doing it just for the historical gains - that's speculating, not investing.

For example I think institutions are now getting their feet wet into BTC because they started realising this could be a paradigm shift in the way people around the world look at value. The scarcity and the features of this cryptocurrency make it a better mean of payment.

If you think BTC is worth more than Gold, compare the market caps. You will notice one of them is considerably lower than the other.

I have been giving opinions when it comes to selling or buying but when that time comes that is today I am going to buy it now I been hesitating.

this is accurate . we can easily hand out comforts to others but when it comes to our selves we are blanked . now can be the time that you are now the one that will ask suggestions from others .

So, I heard from one friend that it is a wrong decision when you people buy rising stocks value most likely to go down, is it different from bitcoin? is it right or wrong?

stocks and btc have similiarities but what specifically stock is that ? btc is the strongest coin in crypto so its okay to buy btc on any value but if the stocks that he is comparing to btc is weak or not in the level of btc well he is right that it is risky buying that at high price .

I would advise you to be critically active in the price. Spam F5 in your "btc to usd" keyword in Google because the price is really going crazy inside 30k right now.
Yesterday, I believe it kinda dropped a bit to 34k? But now we're back in a bit of few dollars up again.
Take my advice only if you really have the intention to buy.

if the price drops to $ 30,000 and manage to stay at that level and then go up to $ 35,000 you can buy and sell when  reach $ 41,000 if  can't break $ 41,000

Whatever the price is we should always remember that gaining a profit is the most important thing here. We should not forget that our purposes are to make a profit and as long as you can see the profit, you don't have to wait for another high price unless you are sure that the price will increase to the higher price. If the market situations are not good to hold because of wanting a bigger profit, you don't have to wait for more because the price can go down. Taking profit is the most important for us to get the money, and we can buy back again if the price is down.

Indeed. The current status we are now today is not like what happened in the year 2017 because whales and institutes are currently holding their bitcoins. So there is nothing with buying bitcoin today, especially if bitcoin is now down in $34,000 price, so traders and long-term investors might be able to gain profit with its current price.

100 people will give you 100 different answers...some people sold top and wait some bottom to buy, some people hold since ever, and they don't have plans to sell now...some are getting in for longer, some just for fun... Therefore, any advice here is just a description of what we do, or what kind of plans we have, but there're no guarantees that anyone from us is right! Time will show who was right and who wasn't, but until that time it will be late for any actions! We need to do something today!
I am always for everything! Why not to have something on holding? Why not to invest something? And why not to have fun with something? What is important is to have sources of income, work on that before everything, it's good to put some coins on a side for long, but you can put some coins to work (many ways for passive income around).
And in the end crypto wouldn't be where it is if all people just hold! Crypto is good for having fun with it and it's universal, we all need some fun in our lives!

It is true, as long as we can find opportunities in any market scale, it is okay to buy them. But if you see, a lot of big institutions buy bitcoin before the price is above the $30k range, they do have a big influence on the overall price movement of bitcoin, but I'm also sure they will choose the best time to buy bitcoin.

Yes I will buy since I would like to trade it while the market is so fast moving and no I can't afford to hold it since I cannot actually take the risk to hold for so long since I don't know what the future brings and we are at the peak yet so its dangerous to buy at ATH and hold it for quite long time. So better wait if there's a big dump coming since that is the time or shall we say best time to buy and hold our bought bitcoins.

That's the logic behind the increasing price of bitcoin at even high levels as well. People realized long time ago that bitcoin could go down, but it will always go up, which means either you buy right now and make a profit very quickly, or you buy now but make profit a bit later, even if it takes 3 years to get back to this price you could simply just keep buying at lower levels and drop your averages and make a profit. That is why I assume that people do not really care about what is going to happen with their investment in the short term since the long term is always profitable.

Hence right now we do not see a fall ironically because people buy thinking short term is not important and long term is the real deal and since the short term was not cared it became a bull as well. That is how everyone is approaching bitcoin as of right now and even alts as we can see.

All plans or strategies can be made easily and market analysis can be predicted. When the price of BTC is at its highest, buying it is certainly very risky, but we have to look at the analysis of where the market is going at that time. Most importantly, don't buy at the highest price. Buy when the price starts to fall and go to the strongest support, then sell at the resistance.

I think buying is not a bad thing.

We all know how the price behaved in the last few weeks but I think doesn't mean the price is having a great increase means that you can't buy. If you made an investment at the right timing, you could still make a good profit but obviously, that would be less than those that invested earlier when the price is still low. Our estimation about the Bitcoin market is the same but about view about altcoin market is totally not the same because nothing guarantee every altcoin will gain new ATH price (outperforms the 2017 market ATH) cause what we're seeing is just a flash switch in the market which shouldn't have to happen now but it happens because of the major investors that focus only on BTC.
As said, the best thing to do is to take whatever we want cause the next market is still unclear but this current market will profit day traders.

To begin with welcome back, there are many people that leave the market to never return and it is nice to have someone that can recognize the value of bitcoin and wants to get back in the market, now about your question I will not deny that this is a difficult moment to buy, you're coming way too late to the party and it is indeed possible that if you invest now there is going to be a downturn in the price of bitcoin.

So what to do? You only option is that if you are going to buy bitcoin right now is to accept the fact that you may have to wait some time before you see any kind of profits and that you are going to need to hold your coins for the long term, if you cannot do that then it is probably a bad idea to invest in bitcoin.

I heard with bad news with bitcoin price on 20th January still true or not maybe have many people panic for ready to sell or hold bitcoin, looking now bitcoin price was down and little worry for any investor keep holding or selling bitcoin before going dump. I am still waiting trade with altcoin during bitcoin still down and look afraid for entry with altcoin because have risk to lower price. Maybe is not real but have made many people and investor very worried how to keep save bitcoin or altcoin assets and sell all it before really dump.
