I think that is not a wise idea for an investor. It should be invested before the all time high for you to fully maximize the potential income. Based on the historical graph of every coin, if it reaches an all-time high, it went down again. Like ethereum right now, after hitting its all-time high few days ago which is 1440 USD, few days after it became 1300 USD and currently down to 1250 USD. So it is not wise if we will invest after all time high, it should be before.

if you bought bitcoin after hit $40k then you predict if the price of bitcoin will going down, you can exchange your bitcoin to any kind of stable coins my friend, then if think bitcoin price will recover, you can exchange your stable coins to bitcoin, with this way, you will get more bitcoin as your profit

When BTC was at 40k then most of the alts are on it's peak,as many of them are near about their ATH. You should have wait,you can check the history that how alts dramatically fall after the run.
You can check the case of Eth.
When it's had its previous Ath and how long it take to break it..

buying Altcoins by selling Bitcoin is one of the less good steps, it doesn't mean Altcoins are worthless but it would be better if you held Bitcoin than altcoins,
but that's the decision that has been taken maybe the OP sees altcoins will continue to grow, and not bitcoin,

It all depends on your choice and choosing the right and profitable altcoin after sacrificing your bitcoins for altcoins, and what you have to realize is that when bitcoins go down, chances are the altcoins go down too.
but if you share the profit from bitcoin profits to buy altcoins, I think that's right without having to spend your bitcoins for some altcoins which may not necessarily make a good profit.

I think it is unwise to just sell all your Bitcoins for Altcoins, we don't know what the future will say and if there is anything I have learnt in this space never bet against Bitcoin because most of these value in Altcoins are coming back to Bitcoin, just look at the DEFI bull run last season and what happens later in the year to most of these DEFI tokens but BTC stand tall among them

that is a good idea, because not all altcoin prices have increased (reached its ATH price), so if an altseason occurs, then of course you will get a big profit from investing in altcoin, but you have to choose the right altcoin to make an investment, because for now not all altcoin prices will increase very high and in my opinion you better invest in altcoin that are in the top 300 on coinmarketcap, because the price will definitely increase if there is an altseason.

One thing about crypto investment is that you need to understand the right time to buy base on your purpose of investment either for short term or long term or mid term. It's clearly said by him if he has sold it to buy the altcoin when bitcoin was around 40k. I just expected if he was getting small profit to consider the bullish trend of altcoins were happening when the bitcoin was very stable around 36k. I think that he has already got nice profit but if he was using it for the long term and he may end with the loss.

I realize, you are the one going for short-term commercial purposes.  you hit a bad cycle state to take advantage.  I am very interested in the altcoin team that you keep when you sell BTC to salvage them.  If you sell BTC at 40k and hug your team with high volume in the forwards is ETH.  That was the perfect decision.  I am somewhat optimistic about ETH as it is kept safe and better it will break down the 1k5 safe very quickly.

Once the break out is confirmed, it is likely for the altcoins to move up. So if any altcoin reaches it all time high and close an hourly candle above the breakout and then retest the resistance and breakout, that's the time you can buy the coin for short term profit.
