Just wondering what your strategy for taking profits on alts?

Do you sell when your alts double against in USD or BTC? or what % to make sure ur safe from dumps?

I will sell my altcoin when I get 100%-150% profit from my capital and I will withdraw half the profit I get for my needs, then I will use the capital and the remaining profit that I get to buy Ethereum, because I believe Ethereum is the best investment for now and will definitely give me a very big profit in the future, that's why I invest all my money in Ethereum.

The common way of professional trader on taking profit was spreading it in different price level, The use fibonacci level to determine the perfect price level to take profit base on the recent pump/dump. When price go beyond level means oversold and overbought which means there will be an imminent price pullback on that certain altcoin. Setting target is the smart move on taking profits on trading.

I fix the profit in this way, manually periodically track the "extra" coins and sell them. I think such actions allow you to maintain the balance of the portfolio. You can of course just sell all the coins and withdraw cash. The market is very unstable so it is difficult to predict the right actions.

I usually sell my altcoins when I manage to make a profit of 2 times the first amount I invested in altcoins and then I withdraw some of the money for my needs and transfer other funds to stablecoins in order to then invest in altcoins again.

I have some alts I have been keeping for a while, and I add when I can... believe me, I don't even think about selling them for profit! I keep them as support for the projects, I use them for gambling and trading (to make more), and when the time comes maybe I will be able to use them on other places, and maybe those alts will worth a lot by that time!
Profit (in fiat) is not everything, if you need that fiat for something it's alright, I am selling when I am in some need (selling coins is my last option, and I hate doing that)! But I like to keep my coins and grow them!

Which alts are you holding?
Most of the times, I sell a bit of my altcoins when I have my investment back, the rest I just hold. Other coins, I sell completely if I don't believe in the project (i.e. most of the coins I received from coinbase earn lol). The only thing I don't like to do is selling with loss, but sometimes you need to do this to avoid major losses...

If you talk about alts and their price target i think you should also name the coin specifically because in my view different alts will be moving 10x to 100x as a result of parabolic run later this year.

For ease of investing and taking profit i set the targets against the usd mostly like i would be selling my trx or take profit at $3 per trx and it is very reasonable target because trx has previously made 30 cents peak so it will be just 10x from that.

Before i wanna try to invest in a coin and i have determined how much profit that should be achieved by my portfolios before i wanna try to sell it.
I will try to sell it when it reached the peak price. I don't know how much it is but i just take the at least 1x ROI as the minimum return that i can try to use it as my point to sell my altcoins.
It's easy to determine it dude.
I will not put a very big expectation like got 100x return from my investment lol

I do something similar and I would suggest you to do the same thing as well. Take out your own capital and continue with the rest of it. Let's say you invested 100 bucks into something, it became 150 bucks (that number can change to whatever you want), instead of taking out all the money from it, withdraw the 100 bucks you invested, now you are not in a loss, and you still have 50 bucks left in that project.

I did this to so many projects and right now I have about 80 bucks, I never invest more than 10 bucks to brand new projects, so 80 bucks would mean 8 successful ones and most of them weren't even 10 bucks and some lost money so I never lost a single dime, and I made 80 bucks with it, using only 10 bucks to invest to projects as well. So if you did this with 100, that would have been 800, if you did it with 10k, it would have been 80k. And this was only in 2020 as well so not really long time.

when you invest you need to have a target, if you really are investing for the short term, I have done long and short investment, for me taking profits should be done when you are up 15-20% in my opinion, no matter what other people say its already a profit, most people do is hold it even they are up 100% sometimes knowing it could double, but it's different in crypto your up in a minute and down rock bottom in seconds.

The traders will always be seeing from the situation that was happening with the market They will never put their money into the big risk. If they were seeing the opportunity to get out from the market and then they will re-enter into the market again, i do believe they will do that. if the market was showing the bearish trend and they will be liquidating all of their assets.
Trader is always watching the market to determine what kind of decision that should be taken by them all.

Probably when you make money and reach your target? Hesitation means you are been greedy, many newbies and old investors failed to take profits because they don't even know when to stop, what to do or know what they want, that's why they get rekt in the end

At the moment I am trading altcoins against the dollar because it is not altcoin season now. Basically the price of coins is growing due to the growth of bitcoin, this can be seen if you look at the dominance of bitcoin in the market in such conditions, it is better to trade with the dollar and otherwise with bitcoin.

Assuming I invested 200$ on a altcoin, I will have to make up my mind to take profit when I get 400$ back as returns, this is what many don't do, most want that 200$ to turn into 20,000$, I'm not saying this is impossible but the chances are too slim, it's better to learn how to be less greedy

Absolute truth. Better to do less but consistently. But many remember 2017 and the Xs overshadow their minds. Even if one day they manage to win x-20 jackpot, then with such a strategy, in any case, they will all lose at a distance.

I think is better with little profit but consistently where every time and every day we trade always get profit than have hold few year before reach much profit, some time looks crazy when we got many people holding much coin and get good price but we have sold all coin early when lower price, but we can get profit every day and they have other source income so is not look worry when holding few years later with their assets and keep hold it.

I am definitely taking profit when my coins reach their old ATH from 2017/2018. But only to recoup what I initially invested. I still buy in every now and then for the "solid" alts,,, these are the Litecoins and Moneros but these I hold on to for as long as I hold BTC.

But good idea to get back at least your capital, and then a little bit of profit so you feel it was worth holding. And of course, liquidate as you need to spend bills and expenses:)

I personally sell altcoin that I own when the price has reached the target (after I get a profit of 30-50%) and of course after I sell these altcoin, then I will look for another altcoin to be used as an investment, because I have a strategy for investing, that is :
1. I always buy cryptocurrency every month, 70% for Bitcoin or Ethereum (random, depending on which price is falling) and 30% for investing in altcoin (usually I look for altcoin that are in the top 500 on coinmarketcap)
2. the profit I get from investing in altcoin, then I will use to buy altcoin again, because investing in altcoin is more profitable, even though the risks are also great.

That's probably the way people are familiar with it until now. Saw a good rise and sold everything and waited for the price to fall back down to buy. But it is not easy to do with our predictions.

I guess if you were only holders, it wouldn't be too difficult because we could check prices every day. if it's profitable, just sell it. maybe we can do a reinvest strategy and also diversity, but of course it must have a little knowledge about trading fundamentally. buy dip and sell when the price has touched a certain price level, then reinvest in other altcoins that are dip

I always look for the potential of the coin that I'm holding and learn about its possible movements. I always make sure to buy when the price is low and set a target goal. Instead of taking profits you think that the value will ris for more and eventually you'll realize that you missed the ride and the price start to fall, best thing to always do is to have your set goals, both with profits or loses you should have  a set plans to avoid losing your money and regrets that you missed the opportunities to take good amount of benefits from the projects/coins that you invested in,.
