Just wondering what your strategy for taking profits on alts?

Do you sell when your alts double against in USD or BTC? or what % to make sure ur safe from dumps?

When you sell do you buy more BTC or Rotate into another Altcoin?

Most my trade is take 20-30% profit. But some of my investment is for long term, so i wont take any profit unless i need money or the profit already satisfy me enough (its not a good strategy).
I usually rotate into another altcoin, only in some condition i buy more btc.

so I messed up. I had 0.1 BTC when Bitcoin was in $14000+ back in October. their USD Value that time was some $1400 or something I think. I invested them in some of top alts in binance. and now when Bitcoin's price is $37,000 today my account's BTC value is dropped to 0.06 BTC but their USD value is $2500 dollars.
now I am totally lost in confusion. I am in profit in term of USD and in lose in term of BTC. I have no idea what should I do. am I really in lose or in profit?

You invested $ 1,400 in the cryptocurrency, and now its price is $ 2,500. Of course, there is definitely a profit here, but if it is locked in, that is, converted to a stablecoin such as USDT.
I am now trying to watch the price rise of my tokens. So, the YOUC token of the YOUengine company, in which I took part in the bounty companies, for the period of receiving this token cost $ 0.009, and today it has risen in price to $ 0.037. I partially sell it and expect further price growth. Anyway, I've already made a good profit.

My methodology is straightforward. I sell my altcoin in the profit conditions, and I don't sell when the price is down on the grounds that can cause me to will lose the profit. In spite of the fact that I can sell some sum when the price is down, I like to hold for more and sit tight at the significant expense. I will sell my altcoins in BTC on the grounds that I need to make increasingly more bitcoin. I don't have the correct percentage since that will rely upon the market circumstance.

I use a very non-emotional system that has made me great profits since 2017.  I'm generally long.

I only play in ETH and BTC

When the price hits a new ATH or pops up 30%, I sell 30% of my portfolio and pay my short term gains tax separate savings account
When the price goes down 15% I start buying in 30% increments the amount above every 5% down using the money from above until hitting 25% down
When the price goes down 30% or more I buy using new money as I have available
If none of the above conditions happen I hold and wait and ignore the news

Since i have major portfolio in ETH i do invest in other coins with my Eth and only if i find a good price in a quality coin so overall i do check the profit in terms of Eth and make sure that even if im getting good margin in usd terms i should also be in profit with reference to Eth.

simple i just an indicator that give a sign if the price already overbought such as relative strengt index mate
so, when the price already in overbought zone, i will sell my alts a half then if i believe the coins is promissing and deserve for long term hold
i will hold a half

i usually take profits in tranches , i sell and convert to stable coin then flip it to other coins if i spot any opportunity in any token. taking profits also depends on the type of project you are holding. some it may happen that it pumps after you sold which means you sold too early why some will dip more after losing a profit taking opportunity.

With a look at the charts, i try to find where the supply area is so if price is moving from the demand area where we have the bulls my target price is up up there...were you sell at a retail price, its all in the name of buy low and sell high

sometimes you just have  to forget about them,checking on price everyday is so much work

believe it or not altcoins have hidden gems to make you more money than btc,so rotate into another altcoin is the answer

Your Stop Loss (SL) target is very large, if your SL target is large then your TP must be bigger, at least 5x the risk you get,,
this is risk management, the greater the loss you can get, the greater the profit.
If I will at least take a profit when the profit has reached 100% to 200%, but depending on chart conditions and market sentiment at that time, such as a doge that has risen to 700% in less than 1 week

Stop loss is good way when your coins drop lower price but for me is not happening when buying coin keep holding as long time until reach much profit is my best way, never wanna get for cut loss because I think always have chance with my coin back to higher price, many trader after cut loss their coin back to higher price although many worth from cut loss to save your money than you have loss much.

It will be very different if you have a very large investment amount, because if the value goes down to 10% it is already in a very heavy category, how can you still let it drop to more than 20%. Do you just let it go. Say your investment amount is 100k USD, and you let it drop by 20% meaning your money is only 80k USD, are you sticking with your stance? I'm sure you are rocking about that.

You should know that a profit is a profit and we don't need a lot of coin to hold, we just need only those who have a high potential in the future and have an active community and social media updates, in that way you may say that your coin is good and highly profitable.You may also try to invest to only top 10 coins in the market, since they are the best coin to trade for a shorter period of time and have a high volume in the market.

When we talk about crypto <> crypto trading, I tend to collect BTC/Stablecoin profit when the other pair is rising and tend to balance the altcoin sheets when the other pair is dropping.

This allows me to increase the altcoin trading balance when it's cheaper.

I know many opinions have already been expressed here. I am giving my own opinion. I sold all my Altcoin when its usd value doubled and cashed out all the crypto. I didn’t want to take any kind of risk. I don't want to buy BTC or any other Altcoin right now. If the bullish market goes down in the future, maybe i can think again to buy crypto.

You are taking a risk, at the beginning of 2017 when the price of bitcoin reached 2k many people speculated the price could not go any higher and they sold their coins thinking a crash was inevitable but instead of the price going down we saw the opposite and the price began to skyrocket until it got close to 20k, 10x their prediction, so while a decrease in the price is always possible if I were to take a guess I think bitcoin will go up in value once again and surpass its ATH, and when that happens you do not want to be without any bitcoin in your wallet.

I have to say it all depends on what you are investing into. Because I invest into ETH thinking I will not ever sell it if I have that chance, I would like to keep it until I am a retired old guy. I get that many people do not see the point of being old with money when you can be young with money but the difference to me is that either you have a bit of money when you are young and you spend it, or you are very wealthy when you are old and leave a good wealth to your family.

From birth I was raised believing family is everything, it is sort of like fast and furious family theme type of deal, if I can make 100k today or 100 million dollars upon my death, I will pick 100 million dollars upon my death so that my family could live better after I die. That is why I would rather keep my alts as long as I can without ever selling them for any reason at all.

i will take my profit when i feel enough mate, and in my predictions thats the right time to exit the market
after i take my profit usually i will use a half to find other alts

To exchange into other altcoins, make sure you take the best profits. Now my strategy is holding altcoins until the upcoming bullrun. Especially new altcoins where my expectations are so high. I won't sell any new altcoins until I get 10-20 times from a single altcoins.

It depends on individual preferences. As for me, once my bags sees at least %50, I sell off to take profit. And then set lower order of the same coin. I believe it is good to always take profit no matter what. But I am always very careful when selling off my bags

This is not only about individual preferences but also about what kind of market you are invested in, if you are investing in altcoins that are relatively new then the strategy that you are applying is not precisely the best because the whole point of investing in those coins is to try to get enormous profits, if you sell after you get 50% in profits then you are better than when you started but it is questionable whether or not that will be enough to offset the losses that you will get when investing in other coins.

My strategy is simple. If the market goes down today, I want to be satisfied with the amount of money I've converted into Fiat. For newcomers this may be difficult to understand as they are thinking go "all in", yes true this seems to be the time of all in, but when those bear days kick in, I want to feel my safe zone, without the greed that surrounds us today.
