For the top 5 coins, check CMC as well. Top 5 for some people is quite subjective but the statistics would say a lot from crypto coins database sites.
Shouldn't be that hard to search.

3. DOT coz they sure are pumped up right now and you dont want to miss it and not hold them.

When it do comes to a decision on when is the right time to buy there's no one here can tell you exactly when is that but as long as you know what you are doing in the market or your investment you will be fine. Getting a profit is not a problem as long as you are knowledgeable enough on how to trade your crypto right.

IMO defi is just like another hype created in altcoins the same as the ICO before and if you are familiar with the ICO hype before I guess you already know what's their end point.

You've got an awesome platform for these coins, I'm using kucoin as well and the volume has been really great there so far. I don't like complexity when it comes to trading so I usually choose the platforms where I feel comfortable trading and where I can navigate through simply.

I have tried a lot of exchanges before but only few of the stands out, even on coins that I trade I tend to be really picky on where to put my money.

I don't have information about DeFi but in my view of DeFi's were pumps and dumps scheme, I don't think if it is still good time to buy those. Why don't you stick the old coins because they can also make profit like ethereum, binance coin, cardano and of course bitcoin these were my favorites. I usually trade in Binance exchange because it's trusted exchange for me.

Defi is currently the popular platform of investing .I think you are well known with the coin of Chainlink ,Uni which are defi coin .So that platform are growing rapidly and we most of the defi project getting success on the recent time .Now you can research yourself and find the best project to invest .On the hand market is on uptrend and it will be wise to being patient and take some time before invest .

Explaining defi here in few sentences would not be possible, it is something a bit more complex than that so you will have to read about it from articles that explains it a lot better.

https://academy.binance.com/en/glossary/defi This artcile for example is from binance itself and it explains what defi is, they are basically talking about it in enough details and anything else would have to be checked token by token situation, uniswap is different while avax is something else and dot and link are different basically they are all a bit different from each other.

At the end of the day defi is a marvelous improvement on what blockchains could have done before and now blockchains are better thanks to defi. Secondly, I can't really give you 5 coins that I can suggest because if they go down I would feel bad, you should probably do your own research instead of checking what others are saying.

I would have to say bitcoin is definitely a great one to buy, but it is not really the only one like many claim, neither is ethereum for that matter. You could buy those and you should buy those, they are great, but they are not the only ones. Which means there are other coins you could invest as well, there are others in top 10, top 20 and even lower levels that are not bad. For example my dark horse this year will be UNI and PCS both are great swap places for defi, one for ethereum blockchain and other is for binance blockchain, and both are greatly used and awesome projects.

I can't say that it is guaranteed that they will earn money, but they are going to have a lot better years, they didn't even existed at the start of 2020 and already big right now, which means the more they grow the higher the price will get as well which is why I bought some from both of them.
