I need some advice, I had some crypto a few years ago and then sold it and made some good profits and I am now planning to buy some crypto once again and I admit that I am outdated on the crypto world right now. Can someone give a brief explanation of what DeFi is and what are your top 5 coins/tokens and where do you usually trade it. Thanks! 

deFI tokens have become one of the booming projects in recent times, but believe me now it's better to be in the top 10 coinmarketcaps such as ETH, LTC, BNB, POLKADOT, and NEO. it is too good for your assets than risking in deFI tokens that have no clear future

Honestly those high end top coins are usually the ones to go, they are really great, they usually make the most money for people as well. I am not saying just focus on those and never others, of course you could be interested in some smaller project as well, but do not put bulk of your money there.

My understanding is that always find things that look legit and invest 90%+ of your money there, and keep a very small amount to make a profit with smaller ones, this has always been the case for me. So, invest into those top 10 coins, but pick like only 5 decent one of them, and also go look for a very small project. I actually own a coin that is not in the top 200 right now, it is very tiny and honestly I feel fine about it as well. It is just how I invest, with diversification and it worked out and made me a decent profit thanks to this method.

Except nobody can predict when this correction really comes or if it's NOT a bear trap. I mean, who's to say that this could be the start of a long crypto winter, and then you'll be adding to losses instead of minimising them:)

Which is why dollar cost average is still hands down the best strategy no matter which period you're actually buying it in.

Forget analysis and focus on real life, and keep stacking.

I guess too that time wasn't necessary to consider at all but for me the main concern was your ability how to look for a good crypto or coin to buy and your capability or the availabilty of your budget to buy it at all cost and time. There are a lot of alternative cryptocurrency but only few are worth it, what really matter is how you would choose and how you would establish a good analization to the propose crypto and also how would you properly handle it especially when you were going to make it a long term or a short term investment.

right now, other than btc, it is good to buy eth and bnb as both are very promising in the market. i strongly believe that if you will buy today, this will give you profit in the next coming months or even few days or weeks from now. for other alts, you need to study them first as some of them dont really follow the btc trend but instead relying on devs progress.
but it is good to note that, there is no wrong or right time to buy, if you exercise the simple rule of trading, buy low, sell high, youre on the right track. sell your coins higher than what you bought even if it is not large profit, at least be on the positive side.

That is the right decision, but unfortunately there are too many people who got into panic mode and sold all their coins, those are the real loss makers and they are dropping the price as well, I have no idea why they are scared so much. I mean the price was under the current prices about a week or so ago, why are they so scared? Why do they think that price will be 10x with just a slight increase and think 90% down with slight drop? Bitcoin drops 10% constantly, at least once a month since it started, that is as normal as it gets.

I do not get people who are scared of every single fall. I agree with you that getting in right now would be a great deal. In fact I am going to talk about a 5k dollar loan soon with my bank as well, and if I can get it, I will probably put it on crypto as well, if it falls a lot, I still have enough money from my salary to pay it, and if it goes up I will cover it even quicker, so there is no loss for me.

I think it isn't bad time to start buying, but better will should come soon, BTC correction isn't finished yet and it is very much likely that another  BTC drop will lead to even bigger drop in altcoins,
I think it should be possible to buy alts priced at least 30% lower than today.
But there is a small chance some alts won't be cheaper so I'd put about 10% of investment capital into today's purchases

if you have a understand about how to choose the new altcoins to invest,
i think you can choose a new alt with huge potential, but if you don't know how to choose the right alt, its better for you to drop your money in the TOP altcoins

for now, I also prefer to monitor the state of the market. however, the current situation is quite prone to dump, and it might be an opportunity to pick one of the popular coins. For now, BNB is getting the attention of some investors because even its development can compete with Ethereum in a short time. Currently, I only see 5 popular coins from CMC

Surprised not many people see this "pattern" actually but I've to say here that current corrective measures could last a lot longer, and probably even test 35k before resuming the upwards rally. Have to remember the pumps that happened in last few weeks were somewhat artificial:)

If you wait and buy when prices start to rise, you won't be able to make a profit. It is bought when the price of something is falling and sold when it is rising.
Of course, you should not rush while doing these trading transactions and not buy and sell everything at once. If you do not hurry, you can reach the biggest profit.

As far as i know DeFi is like a Fintech project but claim themself as decentralized one (no centralized control to set interest rate or any thing about finance).
The top coins that i hold at this time is EOS and CLO, i dont have any special reason, just want to hold them at this time.

not all defis, for example CurveDAO is diving..

~58.000-39% is exactly 35,3k USD;  29% is 41,1k USD  So I think we reach a bottom between these numbers...
What will be altcoins reaction depends how volatile price movement will be  - will it be rather straitgh move, or ups and downs zigzags...
