It has been quite stable for the past week or even more, has settled at approximately $31.000-$33.000. I was expecting that it wouldn't recover anywhere close to the $40k ATH. I suspect that it will take a while, my guess would be mid-February, if we're lucky enough.

That's just my opinion though, we can't actually predict that.

It needs some big news like converting balance sheets to crypto or major companies are entering to crypto space. It will sustain at $30k USD easily due to recent publicity to the crypto. And, India is going to introduce a bill to ban private coins including bitcoin, eth, etc soon. A short-time bearish moment for some time the recover.

Not anytime soon. I have heard that Indian government is going to ban bitcoin. If this happens you will see a huge market with some great potential leaving out from the market. Also this recent Gamestop thing has actually alarmed the institutional investors towards reorganizing their capital and I don't see any major hedge fund coming into bitcoin anytime soon. Therefore crossing over $40K without a piece of big news would be impossible. Talking of this technically the price is currrently floating below the 20EMA which indicates a bearish medium-term trend therefore we could remain stuck around this area for quite some time.

We will see it again. But don't think too much because it is stressful if you're always thinking of it. What's the best thing to do if you do believe that it will comeback to $40k as soon as possible, buy while it's under that price.

I did think it would pull back after its initial success, the big question is how far and for how long as to revise lower prices is quite normal but does this extend into the rest of year to work through this whole higher price range.   I always side with the extremes not exactly negative but expecting us to go lower then expected too far even and then we bounce back and we fry bear meat for dinner also but that would suggest in the greater extremes that we also take more time to run through the full range of possibilities.
   So to me 20k is about the lower end of the range and as you mention 40k is the price to beat, it surely does come with some trigger to make a new high.    In the price of autumn it was actually something 15k that was more important, confirming above a price such as that showed we had beaten a trend of lower highs since 2017 but also the 2019 highs and in retrospect that was the time to go bullish on a much wider picture and scale.  20k of course later meant new ATH to some and it moved further.   Again now I want to spot where do we break the negative trend if any from the ATH, I count a purely YTD trend passed but on wider time frame we have more work to do it seems.

The market is with good stability. Anytime soon it can have a steep rise in the market making the price of bitcoin reach above $40k. The price of bitcoin staying above $30k gives confidence to every user in holding to get a better profiting at the shortest. Another thing people are much with positive thoughts about the market.

It seems to me that if there shortly will not come positive signals of price increases, the passing of time may negatively affect the price of Bitcoin. The longer the price fluctuates at this level, the more likely the next move of the market will be the price drops to the level you are talking about.

I believe before this month ends we are going to see another 40k+ in the bitcoin price. The logic behind why I think it will happen is that we have been around these prices for a very long time and price declines to fall even more, people who are rich (and people who are not even rich) accumulated as much bitcoin as they can and there has been a decent amount of long buys bought as well and we have hurt a lot of shorts during the recent price spike as well that eventually it looks like we are going to only profit from going up and that is the only direction left for us as well.

Hard to say, according to chart, $35k will be the major resistance now, it has been rejected several times although I've seen it surpassed today, however, it  doesn't hold that much long so the price pulls back again. So this is an indication that there are still selling pressure at this price. So it make take a while before we can see $40k. Because the obvious barriers are $35k and then $38k. Market is based on sentiments so if there are some good news like what we hear in November-December then we can surpassed $40k again. There's nothing impossible that the bitcoin can make, we all know that the fluctuations that are happening in bitcoin are just part of the correction. Every time that I am seeing that the bitcoin is pumping up meaning there is always a chance that it may break again the ATH and across again to the $40,000. The other day I see Bitcoin price at around $37k and today it is around $35k trying to break $36k.  I also think that the market will trend like this for a little while before breaking through.  I also think shorters are taking advantage of this fluctuation really well, buying at dip and shorting at top.  I agree @Natalim that the other will short and we see that they are performing well, preventing Bitcoin to skyrocket again but I believe it won't be long before they lost a grasp on the market and Bitcoin starts surging again.

Yep, as I have said before in other thread, $35k is the big resistance as it has been rejected many times already and I thought that we are not going to conquer it as we might enter a bearish trend soon. However, bitcoin prove me wrong again, today we have a good spike and I'm not surprised that it will not just surpassed $35k today, it will jump higher and then go for the next resistance at $38k.

So $40k is possible, might be mid by next week. And so the bull run continues from here.

This is a period of accumulation, the price was going up too fast and it was simply unsustainable and it seems traders in general agreed with this sentiment and the market slowed down as a result, just give it time, we need more money coming to the market and for this to happen we need governments to keep printing money and taking bad decisions.

While many are expecting this year to be good for the economy I think only the markets will go up, many jobs were lost and most of those jobs are not coming back as who in his right mind is going to start a business with their savings or ask for a loan when the economy is in such a bad state? And many people are not going to go back to their old habits either as they lost their jobs or they lost a great deal of their savings during the pandemic so consumption will not grow as fast as governments would like it.

I do agree that bitcoin becoming a bit more "stable" was something we all expected but the reality is that we didn't become stable, we became stagnant and that is a bit of a problem. If bitcoin price was stable it would have been stable but right now price is trying to be volatile again and not be stable yet it fails.

When price doesn't want to move that is called stable but when the price wants to move but fails to move that is not stable that is stagnancy and that is not a good thing. I hope that price does go to a level (up or down) where it is comfortable and stable but right now it is not like that at the moment. Eventually we are going to end up seeing a stable price but that price is not here, it is going to be either higher or lower.

Anytime soon, market is doing great, this week we have a 23.7% pump we have another one like this next week, we'll have it again, I don't believe Bitcoin all time high will be fix in the $40 k we are on a first month of the year and things are doing great, $40 k is very much attainable, it will take another pandemic to crash the market.

I disagree a second new really bad strain of the covid causing say 20,000,000 dead in 6 or 7 months would not crash BTC.
World Wide Governments would have to put a lot people on unemployment.  Money would be printed 2x or 3x what happened in 2020 the dollar the euro regular cash would inflate and BTC would shoot up and over 100k really fast.

Not that I want that to happen. But pretty sure it is what would happen.

I will take BTC slowly moving upwards I think it get to a new all time high in under 8 days.

It is indeed been stable for Bitcoin in the last couple of weeks that is why it's been hard for us to tell whether Bitcoin is really going up breaking another ATH or it will drop below $30k because of a back and forth movement. But now it somehow clear, there is a lot of good news coming lately and this could be a hint that Bitcoin will continue once again. There's a lot of goods speculations are going right now if this continues it will make the trend for Bitcoin to rise up again. I believed that the rally is not yet over. We were currently having a price of $37k right now, a couple more steps, and were are about to set a new ATH once again.

Bitcoin will cross $40k, no doubt about that. But I am afraid that will not happen too soon as we see the bitcoin moves after reach the highest price, the price is not moving back to the higher price but stay at a lower price. We still have time to see the price will increase, and I think that can happen this year or next month. We can not say that the price will go in that two directions in the upcoming weeks because we do not know what will happen later. We hope that our dream will come true to see the bitcoin price will be back to more than $40k.

Seem like it will be formed as a double top pattern for bitcoin price movement since as we have been now its price was failed to reach its previous all time high. I predicted that the price of bitcoin will meet a correction first before increase to pass its previous all time high. Because previously bitcoin has been traded in the sideaway market, usually if the sideway market comes and its price able to breakout the box line then its price will move drastically, but it is not happen now.

Honestly Elons tweet definitely played a role, it is impossible to say he played %0 role in this increase we are having, but it is also impossible to say that bitcoin price did go up only because Elon said so neither, those are two very different things.

Moreover, we are not really doing that bad right now with everyone else going on as well, all those huge corporations, grayscales, microstrategies and many other places, they all get into bitcoin and unlike Elon they do not just say things, they actually put up a lot of money, tens of billions of dollars into bitcoin and that is why I think they are going to be even better, sure it may not be very quick all the time, it is stable for a long time and when they act it moves, so it is unpredictable but I still find those type of investments a lot more influential than what Elon tweets about.

And just a few days later the price has surpassed 40k and it reached 44k and it seems this time it is going to be different and we can remain above this price and maybe even reach 50k during the next days and weeks, people need to let bitcoin work its magic, the higher the price goes the more difficult it is for it to keep rising but despite all of this bitcoin is once again defying all odds and it is growing up again, how high will it go this time? No one knows but we will find out if we give bitcoin enough time to answer that question.

First of all there is a huge difference between a "pump" and a "rise". Pump is what altcoins have not bitcoin.
Secondly that is not the only two scenarios. There are at least 10 of them. For example price could simply stay stable, or it could slowly rise up 0.01% per day.

That very quick movements of bitcoin is the reason there are too many people who are worried about what is going on as well. I personally never get scared that it went low, and I never really got shocked when it went up neither, tomorrow we could be under 35k and I will be fine with that too. When you are trading, you should not be worried about daily movements that much since you should be acting too quick enough to not have any changes inside one trade, should there could be maybe 1-2% profit or 1-2% loss but that is about it on each trade, since you are a trader you should act quick and not get caught in these type of major movements.

If you are a long term investor, you could just put your money in and wait, wait when it is 29k, when it is 37k and wait when it is 47k as well, just keep on waiting until you do not want anymore and just want to cash out and say it is enough profit, until then just keep it in bitcoin no matter what price it becomes.

Well, there is always a reason to talk about the 40k mark as well for two reasons and they are quite good and important reasons as well. First of all we talked about will it go above 40k and now that we are above 40k we could talk about HOW it became over 40k again, that is a very important part of the discussion in crypto world, if you know how it went up then it means you could check for the same signs in the future to predict if it could go up again as well, think of it like a learning experience that could make you better at trading.

Secondly we could always go back down under 40k as well, this means the question of "will we be over 40k again?" will be valid again, if you do not want to talk about it right now since we are already 40k that is fine, but it should not be locked because it will be a valid question again in the future if it drops under 40k.

Not just individual investors but there are a lot of companies eyeing to invest in bitcoin. I don't know if Tesla's 1.5 Billion investment is true, still no reliable source for this information and while others said they already did, some say that it is still not happening. Don't know who to believe now.

Right now, the price is at $47K and it seems that the resistance to $50K might be bigger than we thought still, with new investors, that would be easily broken. I think this week, it will be a new ATH at $50K.

There is nothing impossible for bitcoin, it could literally go to any price and I wouldn't be shocked, that includes 5k or 150k and both of them are definitely in the play for me. But, I agree that the lowest we could probably go right now is 28k+ price point, at around those levels we have a huge wall building and it keeps getting bigger and bigger and in order to go below that we need a lot of people or even maybe huge corporations selling bitcoin to go under it, and looking at how huge corporations that buy bitcoin do not sell that quickly and hold for years (they do that with stocks) that means we are probably not going to see under 28k, is it impossible to go under?

It is not, is it probable that we will go under? It is definitely not. That is why I am feeling fine because it is very difficult that we go under too much and there is a good chance we could recover from that fall even if it happens.

Some people are just that inpatient, I understand that the movements of bitcoin can be very erratic and that can make people very nervous about what it is going to happen next, but people that have been in the market for a long time simply accept this is the nature of bitcoin and I will gladly accept a very volatile and unpredictable asset as long as it moved upwards the majority of the time than an asset that was less volatile but that went down in value more frequently, this is why when it comes to bitcoin having a long term perspective really helps you to protect your capital.
