It is unlikely that the proposed good ideas will get results and be successful right away.  Your experience in gap trading is that you already have certain knowledge.  I think there are two possible ways to be opportunities:
1. The market is in a big correction today, currently total market cap is slowly down by ~ 5%.  Pay attention to it!  on the other hand, immediately learn about the explosive growth platforms that are Defi like ETH, DoT, ADA, BNB, ... or the return of lending like AAVE, ..

^ If you are holding your coin for more than 3 years long I don't think you did not have profit as of now, let say you have started holding your crypto since 2018, and as I remember that time crypto market price was very deep and cheapest. If you have your crypto until now, that probably has multiple times of profit. Nevertheless, in the trading field, you must be researchful at all costs, you need to follow what is a trend because sometimes there is a profit on that even though it is very risky to do so. I suggest you join any popular social media that gives daily updates, so that you will know those trends that happen now, just like Elon Musk tweeted again to BTC and called, almost BS as fiat. Just go for traditional spot trading with half of the amount you have and convert the remaining into a stable coin for now since we are witnessing huge red all over the market. Just buy and sell the coins against bitcoin or stable coin if you are a beginner in technical analysis.

If you have some experience in trading why are you waiting for any news or anything of that sort? Just go ahead with your technicals toolkit and go on to develop a trading strategy. Especially in this market where you get huge volumes each day trading strategies would work really well even on the less volumnous altcoins. These coins can easily skyrocket 50-60% in a day. But obviously risk management is the most improtant thing. Make sure you focus on conservation of your capital rather than just profits. I suggest you to start searching for a bottom of this correction move that market has given today, you can buy around the bottom and wait for some action. RSI on 4 hour chart is already below 20 so it can be a good quick profit.

To make quick profits, the short term is more suitable for you to work on. Personally, I'll advise you to put half of it which is $1k into investment. It is advisable to invest in bitcoin and hodl for some time to make profits. That way, you can make some passive income.

3 years is not a short time to learn many things from here. You will get more lessons to learn, and you will get experience on how to trade better than the other people out there. I guess you miss something here or maybe you do not understand the lesson, so you think that you do not know much about trading. My suggestion is to invest your money in bitcoin instead of altcoin because the bitcoin price will increase later. But you do not have to follow my advice before you know why you need to invest in bitcoin. You need to search by yourself about that. Social media don't give a reliable source of information, and why? Because most of them are paid ads, scripted, and they probably don't know about crypto in real life.
It could be your friends will give more than social media. But I would suggest not to think about easy money, instant return coz that only a way you will become a quitters someday if you will not able to reach your goal. 3-5% profit everyday, that was big enough and that seems realistic if you are good at trading.

Checking updates and recent events with a certain project would really be a helpful tool for you to decide neither you would invest or not on a certain project.

It might not give out guarantees or assurance for some pumps or increase but at least that you had able to buy in the dip.You do need to be smart and having that

Choose a good asset and invest in it, if you don’t know how good the new projects can be then it’s best that you steer clear from them, you invest $2000 dollars in already well established projects. There are so many projects that you can invest, you can invest in DeFi, or you can go Ethereum, BITCOIN and so many others.

Bitcoin is at a high price , even Ethereum and most of them, so I don’t know if you should buy Bitcoin now or not, if you can risk that money then you can go ahead, but watch the market on a steady, but don’t sell at the slightest decrease, because sometimes it can just slightly decrease and then go back heavily.

If I may share you my way to choose, I'll tell you a simple way. I follow the money.
I do this for a short term. I look at coinmarketcap and watch for coins/tokens that have growing volume in 24h and marcetcap under $1million. And make sure it listed on major exchanges or at least trusted dex. Of course i have to read all info about the projects before, vision, technology, roadmap, team, partnership etc.

Just invest the little amount, maybe the way you have stated it, $6000 straight up and the other $6000 with a stop loss and then watch the market. The market, from last week, dropped from $60000 price to around $50k.

But it has been on the move, so your luck will be if it hits that $60k price again. You can do copy trading if you want to potentially grow your funds, but it has risks too (depending on which pro trader are you copying). Like me, I am currently doing copy trading on Bityard but there are no guaranteed profits based on the trader’s actions.

In my first few days, I was at a loss of more than 20%. Now I am slowly gaining back because of the consecutive wins of the one that I copy trade with. Of course, I have to acknowledge the risks and there’s no way that we could always profit in this method. Even the traditional spot, futures and derivatives doesn’t guarantee us profit. It’s about risk management.

Copy trading is extremely risky and has a lot of downsides even if you rely on a profitable trader.  First you have to copy every trade to the T.  If you copy all but with slightly different entries or exists you will have different results. If you even skip trades, you have unpredictable results.  Second you have to trust a stranger's mind and thinking to make the right decisions, put the right stops, do a proper analysis, etc.  Third: when things go wrong (e. g. losing streak) there is no way to learn and improve from past trades as you are not making any decision other than to follow a particular trader. And so on. Rather following other traders trades, I'd put in the effort to learn it myself and improve over time.

And that's the point – you don't know why. Did the trader make mistakes? Did he panic and get out too early? Did he not sleep well the night before and that's why his analysis lacked that day? Or were it proper trades strictly following his plan and they just didn't work out?  What even are his plan and rules? You don't know. And you cannot improve as a trader from that.

Your experienced for the past 3 years here in crypto will be your guide, because experience is the best teaching method we can use and I think for 3 years you already have your own strategy in trading. you can read some of promising projects and ICO's in the altcoin bounty thread, there are lot of legit projects and you can invest it your money. trading would be effective in gaining income with the $2k is too much and it easier to trade it and big profit if you trade all of $2k. you should read also some of new project that to be listed in binance.

At the moment it is very hard to buy new coins in my opinion because the levels are so high. If you invest right now, there is a decent chance that prices could fall over the next few months. Especially for traders who want to buy and sell quickly with a decent profit it might be bad time to go in the market right now. What I would recommend you to do right now is split your money and only invest 25% right now, wait a few months and invest another 25% and so on. The risks of buying at too high levels are much lower like this.
