Indeed, the real fact is "Not your keys, Not your Crypto" and anyone can use any blockchain to make transection of USDT by using any wallet based on the chosen blockchain if private key is safe and secure. But it's true that tron based USDT has less fee than ethereum based USDT and that's why everyone using tron based USDT from exchange to wallet or exchange if that exchange support that. Also, it don't secure tron more than ethereum for having lower fees, IMO.

As much as I hate Tether,,, I would actually prefer to store my value in USDT more than in TRON. Both are equally centralized but TRON probably has much less security and if something was to happen to TRON, it would go under and no one would save it. USDT is too big to be allowed to fail, in a sense.

TRC20 is very secure and good to use especially in storing your funds as USDT of its chain because of low transaction fees. high fees is killing on the ERC20 chain which is why majority is finding an alternative to it by using TRC20. instead of storing your funds on exchanges, simply covert to USDT nd withdraw as TRC20 USDT to your personal wallet. you can transfer it anytime you feel like trading.

It's still a good stable coin to be used to store our value for long time. At that time the drop on USDT caused by a flash dump by the big USDT holders while there's no enough volume in the market.
TRC USDT can become the best alternative to send our USDT anywhere consider the fees was only a few cents for a single transaction.
A few year has been passed since the time the price of USDT fell but it's very stable right now.

ERC20 Wallet is not the only thing you need to participate in the bounty. Many project owners are now using other wallets or their own blockchain as the ERC20 transaction fee has increased a lot. Yes, there's always a secure access that this platform provided to every users who's able to use their wallet. The mechanism that already used by any blockchain to issue the new wallet through generate the mnemonic or privekey is almost the same but the only make it different is the wallet hash. The key point should be how smart people to store their sensitive data to the safest place.
Any blockchain is secure as long as people can be a very smart person to store their data.

Why do people want to store usdt for a long term? I don't get it.
If you mentioning the network. Then you right, there's no serious trouble on tron network has been announced. And the growing ecosystem and assets on tron blockchain is proving it.

Today Ethereum is very expensive for transferring small transactions and therefore Tron is a way out of the situation for me.  Hopefully in the summer, transactions on the Ethereum network will become cheaper than now and I will stop using TRC 20.

Likewise, my experience with tron is great and as per transaction I do appreciate their small amount fees which is affordable in each and every users. I do hope that in future progress of tron coin and tokens which possible to increase, there's no significant issues on higher transaction charges.
This might be the reason why most traders will avoid daily trading activities because of that.

If you keep the private key or seed phrase of your wallet safe, I think it is safe and you can store your USDT there for long term. Currently Tron blockchain is faster than Ethereum blockchain and transaction fee is much less. So why not you take advantage of this?

In my opinion, the TRC 20 blockchain is safe to use to store your USDT or other coins, however, if you want to store your crypto you should store it in a TRON wallet because storing USDT on TRC 20 on an exchange is not safe for the long term. therefore if you store USDT in a TRC 20 smart contract then keeping it in the TRON wallet is safer for the long term.

Currently, many are concerned about ERC20 transaction fees. what can be bad is when there will be lots of people who think the same as you. every trader and investor turned to other more friendly networks. obviously, this will affect the use of the ethereum platform.
but if you have to choose TRC or ERC, actually I myself still like ERC if I don't see the problems that occur with ethereum transaction fees.
I think the adoption of ERC is still greater than the use of the TRC network to date. Even though there is a fee problem, I think ERC is still quite dominant.
