Vitalik Buterin asks Twitter followers which currency they prefer to best Ethereum

Vitalik Buterin has launched a survey on his Twitter. He asked his followers to pick the best currency for the next 15 years except for ETH.
 
“You wake up in 2035 and 80% of all transactions and savings in the world are in one currency that is not ETH. Which would you prefer it to be?”, he asked.
 
Bitcoin came out as the winner, with some 410 thousand votes. Second place went to ADA with 30%, with SOL coming in third. USD came last.

Latin American Crypto market

Latin America is a developing region. Some 5-9% of all crypto transactions in the world happen there, but for locals, crypto means much more than it does for westerners.

We are actively working in the Latin American region, and in 2021 we have already made a number of important moves to promote UCoin in that part of the world!

For example, we are developing Utransfer there: the service is designed to enable local citizens to enjoy the cryptocurrency conversion service to fiduciary currencies through settlements in dollars both in banks in Ecuador with its main ally Amazonas Bank and other international allied banks.

Ucoin has formalized an alliance with Amazonas Bank and Procash Company for the purchase of pre-owned and new cars with cryptocurrencies in Ecuador. Transactions will be made in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tether, and Ucoin through the Ubis platform for crypto purchases!

Multiple countries may adopt BTC as legal tender

Bitcoin might become a legal tender in three more countries in 2022, following the example of El Salvador, which put Bitcoin on par with the US dollar in September 2021.

We have already mentioned how Nayib Bukele has been posting predictions about Bitcoin and said that two more countries will adopt it as a legal tender. Seems like he was right: a lot of developing countries are dependent on the developed world’s currencies, such as the US dollar. By making crypto a country’s legal tender, these countries gain more independence from other economies.

Experts agree that this year El Salvador’s move might be mirrored by Panama, Paraguay, Guatemala, and Honduras. Will BTC become a legal tender in more countries? Time will tell.

El Salvador keeps buying BTC

We continue following president Bukele’s actions, and this time he didn’t miss the opportunity to fill his country’s coffers with more Bitcoin during the latest price crash.

El Salvador spent $15 million to buy 410 BTC. We believe that the president is on the right track, and his actions have already put his small Central American country in the history books last year. El Salvador became the first country to adopt BTC as legal tender. This happened in September 2021, and the country’s government has since been buying more Bitcion, as well as supporting the crypto industry.

Millennials Intend to Buy More Cryptos in 2022

Cryptocurrencies have become one of the major assets, especially for young people.

The CNBC Millionaire Survey showed that 83% of millennial millionaires own cryptocurrencies, which polls backers with interesting assets of $1 million or more.

Furthermore, more than 50% of the enthusiasts have at least 50% of their wealth in cryptocurrencies.

In contrast, only 4% of baby boomers hold any cryptocurrency. In addition to that, more than three-quarters of Gen X don’t own any cryptocurrencies.

The survey showed that millennials remain the major driving force in the cryptocurrency space and intend to hold on to the role this year.

IMF slams El Salvador

The International Monetary Fund slams El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele’s affinity for Bitcoin. According to the IMF, El Salvador should really think about regulating digital assets because of the dangers associated with them.
 
However, despite the IMF’s announcements, Nayib Bukele doesn’t seem to be stopping with his Bitcoin policy. Even before the Bitcoin law was passed, he was actively promoting the coin among regular Salvadorans and he continues doing it to this day.

Countries Where Bitcoin Is Legal and Illegal

Despite its use for buying goods and services, there are still no uniform international laws that regulate Bitcoin.

Many developed countries allow Bitcoin to be used, such as the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

The Library of Congress identified 42 countries with implicit bans on certain cryptocurrency uses in its November 2021 update. Some of the countries it lists are: Central African Republic, Georgia, Macao, Vietnam.

The Library of Congress identified nine countries with absolute bans on cryptocurrency in November 2021: Algeria, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Nepal, Qatar, Tunisia.
