seeing Ecuador's victory yesterday against Qatar was convincing enough that it seems that Ecuador dismissed the bribery news that was spread on the internet too, I also think it seems Qatar was still not ready for yesterday's opening game and still doesn't have the confidence so it doesn't look like it's playing optimally, BTW now England have scored 3 goals in the first half and won 3 - 0 maybe in the second half they will add another goal or play defensively with those 3 goals

I don't know whether there is any truth to the bribery allegations. Football is like religion in Latin America, and I don't think that the players will underperform while playing for the national team as a result of bribes. But the allegation put Qatar team under a lot of pressure, and they performed quite poorly in the opening match. And it was the first time on 23 occasions that the host nation had lost their opening match in the world cup (previously in 22 occasions, hosts won 16 times and ended up with a draw six times).

From the moment I realized that Qatar is the host Nation and I said that Qatar will break the record of the first FIFA World Cup host Nation to lose their first game. Honestly I think the coach never prepared them for this big stage. They can’t defend, can’t attack, can’t pass properly, can’t hold the ball. After watching the first few games, Qatar is by far the weakest team in the competition.

I don't think they would have been able to qualify if they were not the hosts.

The equaliser from Bale from the penalty spot was emphatic and because it is the final tournament Bale will be representing Wales he will give his 100% to try to go far in the tournament.

@JollyGood after USA scored that goal I felt that they would go on to win the match, but credits to Wales who refused to give up and in the end they managed to get a point for their efforts. Lastly I too am expecting Argentina to win by 2 -0 or 3 - 0, but I’m expecting France to lose either 2 - 1 or 1 - 0 because of their injured star player’s.

I know Saudi Arabia is a weak team. But will Argentina be able to give 4 goals? Argentina does not play very aggressively. In important matches, they keep their defense strong then attack and draw or win. We have seen this kind of gameplay from Argentina in the last few years.
However, I will not be surprised if Argentina scores 4 goals in today's match. They are playing well enough. They missed an easy scoring chance just 2 minutes into the match. But Messi scored from the penalty shot in the ninth minute. And Argentina got a 1-0 lead. Argentina continues to dominate. Saudi Arabia's players are unable to keep possession of the ball.

They will be the first ever nation to have zero points in a world cup, that's the funny part of it. Obviously we are being a bit too harsh on them considering all the other teams had easier opponents that they played against.

For example last time it was Russia against Saudi Arabia, or Brazil against Croatia, these type of games are easier because teams are better, but also opponents are not that good compared to the thost. Qatar faced a team better than them right away. So having zero points in a cup they host will be funny, just play 3 matches only, and lose all 3 while hosting the world cup. I still do not even understand why they even wanted to host, makes no sense.

Those "after a couple of minutes" offside calls after making them think they have those goals in the first half got to Argentina and might have caused an adrenaline dump among their players.  They weren't the same in the second half.

And that's what I hate about VAR.  It spoils the game and makes it frustrating to watch.  I mean you celebrate a goal then a couple of minutes later it's declared not a goal because of a marginal offside.  :/

Anyway this match with Denmark and Tunisia have Denmark bettors sweating rn.  Lol.  Tunisia is looking good.

Yeah, I'm not sure VAR is being used in the best way so far, it's just so frustrating.

Maybe they should have a maximum of uses of it, like in tennis, otherwise it's a massive waste of time.

I don't know why you are complaining here. The problem is not with the VAR. The real problem is with the off-side rules. Marginal or not, an off-side can't be granted as a goal. VAR just makes the life of referees a lot easier and removes bias. What we need is an overhaul of the existing rules. And I don't think that VAR causes a significant irritation to our viewing experience. 2-3 occasions per match is OK. What matters is that the accuracy of the decisions from the referee. Just for saving time, we can't have wrong and inaccurate decisions.

argentina was too excited in the first half so it frustrated him because many goals were hit by offside because of Var, in the second half saudi arabia started to carry out attacks taking advantage of the weaknesses of argentina's defense so it was easy to score 2 goals against argentina, this is why many people lost their bets in that match , but it will be history for saudi arabia because it beats argentina and argentina will work hard against mexico and poland in the next match

I don't know which one is most shock for me, but I think it's Argentina, because in theory Japan is better the Saudi Arabia
Germany and Argentina are probably in the same level

But I'm confident in Brazil tomorrow and will do my first bet of this cup (don't counting my bets to the champion)
I'll bet on Brazil victory with 2+ goals or more in the match

For today's match I'm not so confident in Spain vs Costa Rica, but Belgium will probably have an easy victory.
