Another boxing exhibition match brewing up. Some are still in the pipeline. Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. were done as well as Nate Robinson and Jake Paul. Dela Hoya is planning to return. Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul's match was postponed. Jake Paul and Ben Askren are expected to face each other inside the boxing ring come April. Entertainment galore!
I guess this is courtesy of covid-19 as ex-boxers and other MMA fighters and other sports discipline is finding their way inside the right and generate money. Miguel Cotto and JM Marquez has a storied carrier in boxing and maybe they wanted to box again, make money or donate the proceeds to covid-19 victims in their respective countries. I hope this is for charity or else the organizers are just like fooling the fans with such kind of fights. There are more promising prospects out there. They should instead focus on them. They should instead devote their money and time trying to put up better fights. I respect these boxers but it is undeniable that they already have their time. Now is the time for others. Let the limelight be focused on the younger generation. By the way, I have also heard Anderson Silva is going to box against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

It surprising to see these two clashes again in the ring, and this is their trilogy fight and again Miguel Cotto had a comeback fight and win against Margarito in Dec. 2011 that Cotto has won, well this time I don't really know if who's going to win now they both stops on the year 2017 and doesn't have any matches now Cotto has retired after his fight with Sadam Ali and Margarito have retired on 2012 and return between 2016 and 2017 but doesn't seem to have any matches after that, but let's just wait there is plenty of time to analyze and give a decision on this one.

This is a very interesting match up Cotto just retired three years ago while Marquez 6 years ago it's very interesting who still got it, Cotto is a slight favorite here he is younger and just retired three years ago, it's much more interesting if these two fighters fought in their boxing days, they have a very similar style, they go all out and both are good as a counter puncher, I don't expect a slugfest here just like they do in their heydays since this is an exhibition match and they are aged and out of the ring for years.

Really? May I know what is your basis mate? I mean do you have a betting odds of this fight already? IMO, Marquez is the favorite here since he beat Pacquioa, but we can only tell if what's the betting odds really if the odds are already available.

I think he based on the poll in this thread. 7 vs 6, in favor of Cotto. I'm also rooting for Marquez, but he retired 6 years ago and Cotto was more active. They have reasons to choose Cotto. Marquez will be a rusty one here in this match. But since it is just an exhibition fight, don't expect too much. No odds yet for this one, but just discussions among boxing fans.

On my own, I dont like this exhibition fight because there will I guess a possibility that their fight becomes scripted and sometimes we think that not real, their making entertainment to people you have watched. They are just kinda making money and it will I guess not give their full fight because that is just an exhibition fight, well that is only my opinion.
I also favor too with Cotto here, since he is a younger fight he has still be able to fight and defeat his opponent quickly. Let us wait for the fight and I don't know how many of them will like an exhibition match.

Actually it's 7-7 now, Cotto seems to have a better boxing technique but in terms of durability, I guess Marquez had an advantage on that. I think this fight is not even finalized yet? I haven't read the full report but if this will happen, I'm hoping to see a KO win by Cotto like Marquez did to Pacquiao.

Lol, this is just an exhibition match, there's no one that going to be KO here. Just like what we seen in the Tyson vs Jones exhibition. Everyone wanted to see Tyson brutality going after Jones, but it didn't happen. On the contrary, we've seen the worst, a draw, which majority of us see it at somewhat the fight is rigged from the beginning, resulting to a lost for the betting public (Tyson is the favourite).

This one is going to be a real fight so I find it a bit more interesting than some of these exhibitions. Chavez Jr. is so inconsistent that it is really hard to predict the outcome of this fight. In his prime he would've easily beaten Silva but in some of his recent fights he has quit at the first sign of trouble. I'm glad that there are an equal support from these two fighters, some are in favor of Marquez while some are for Cotto. Loving the poll result, it's current 4-5 in favor of Cotto, but I'll make it 4-6 because I'll bet for Cotto here to win the fight.
There are 2 who voted for a draw, but I doubt this will be a draw, its just an exhibition fight so draw is unlikely.
I think the opposite is true. A draw is more likely because it is an exhibition just like we saw in the Tyson vs. Jones fight. They probably already have two belts ready to give them also.

I'm okay with a draw as long as the fight is entertaining, in that case I guess I'll be ready with my bet on putting the draw once the odds are available. I search about the betting odds of this fight hoping someone would post but I can't see it anywhere, all I see is this news that they are planning for an exhibition fight. Why it has become a trend now? who will be blame for this exhibition fights happening? What if fighter will just retire and then do exhibition afterwards, isn't it fun?

cast my vote for Cotto.
If Cotto will be careful, he will beat Marquez as Marquez is only good with his counter punching skills, look how he fought Mayweather, he can't hit Mayweather because Mayweather is samrt and Marquez classic strategy did not work, boxing skill I'd go for Cotto, so I hope this is a serious announcement with some intent to make it happen.

Generally speaking, I think it is hard to make a bet and analyze an exhibition match compared to a real professional match. You cannot just take into consideration their power, strength, athleticism, etc because they are just playing boxing. There may still be a desire to win but that is not as strong as that which is coming from a professional and young fighter who is still very hungry to make a better record. To these retired men, for as long as they get paid everything's good.

I agree we should not expect a big thing in this exhibition match, there's really nothing at stake here, they should enjoy the match they are aged boxers and there's no expectation of coming back again to fight again in a real boxing match, there could be a stipulation that they should not hurt each other or even score a knockout, there's a big difference fighting now, then their heydays.

This is a surprise: Miguel Cotto vs. Juan Manuel Marquez Exhibition Clash in Play For June 12 Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that the pair of former four-division titlists are due to meet in an exhibition bout on June 12 from a location to be determined. Details on the event have yet to be confirmed other than that an announcement from both parties is expected in the coming days. https://www.boxingscene.com/miguel-cotto-vs-juan-manuel-marquez-exhibition-clash-play-june-12--156534Oh well, retired boxers are now on the exhibition match. I think this fight should have happened when they are still fighting, Pacquiao has the luxury to fight these two legendary boxers, specially Marquez. Information is sketchy at this point. Perhaps Cotto will be the slight favourite here. I've seen the previous matches of Cotto and Marquez especially when they fought Manny Pacquiao. As for me, this is really a perfect match but I guess Marquez has an edge since he has a longer boxing experience than Cotto. It will surely be a tough fight and I'm looking forward to being entertained by this match.

I am now watching Cotto and Margarito's Previous fights with Manny Pacquiao I think that Antonio Margarito has definitely done a great job in giving Pacquiao a hard time but apparently, Miguel Cotto does the same thing but the Referee just stop their fight because they think that Pacquiao had given Cotto a hell of a beating, but again that fight with Manny is not gonna be count to their performance because both fighters can surely box with one another and give their 2 previous matches this is a trilogy that many are awaiting, I will go with Miguel Cotto here.

They could have done that when they were still strong and vibrant but, what exactly does this exhibition fight stand for? their strength has gone down and no excitement will be catch during their fight I presume. Although am not against the exhibition fight but sincerely not always exciting. Those who care more about the ring should always ensure to have matches and rematches of a concerned opponent before go out.

Two old heads in boxing going for an exhibition match sounds like fun. I do not expect explosive power from these two anymore since they're way past their prime (especially Marquez) though I still expect to see a good bout especially on their footwork and how they carry themselves in the ring. In terms of raw power, I'd place my bet on Cotto. He's a good all-rounder too, and excels mostly on speed. A good match, I should say, and perhaps a good match to throw a couple bucks at and just enjoy the show.

At least this is a decent exhibition fight, Marquez and Cotto are both former world champions and both were very good so even if they are retired this should be a better fight than the ones we see with boxers starting out their careers, I wonder if they are going to use protection because there is no point in risking themselves so late during their lives when they are already retired and so far they both seem to be in good health.
