I usually invest in altcoin that are in the top 100 on coinmarketcap, because in my opinion investing in altcoin that are in the top 100 on coinmarketcap will definitely give me a big profit in the long term and the risk is also small, so in my opinion you don't need to bother looking at all altcoin on coinmarketcap, because if you want to invest in altcoin that can give you profit with a small risk, then you only need to research altcoin that are in the top 100-300 on coinmarketcap, because altcoin must already have a product and high volume, so the risk is definitely smaller and of course the price will continue to increase all the time.

Actually it's hard to get a good suggestion cause everyone got one for everybody. It's up to that someone whether which one he will take into consideration.

Everyday there are new tokens/coins being added on coingecko and coinmarketcap. For sure everyone aware that not all added there are legit and some are shitcoin but of course there are profits being linger on those. Some are worth riding and some are dangerous. Better to do or trade bigger projects.

By experience and perseverance. each time you try to invest in those coins you will land to some review sites sometimes in a group where they tackle the coins that might become successful in the next years from that huge number of coins but none of this option will really give you the right answer. You need to work on your own to see whether you decide to invest in it or not. It's better to have a local community where they will help you if you are just a starter and they won't gonna teach you to advance things just some basics to get you going on your first journey.

You must first understand what the coin is bringing to the industry and who are the people behind the project and if they are in a better exchange, these three will count as the best criteria to choose on what coins are worth investing if there are similar characteristics then check the volume and liquidity, these two can be considered a vote of confidence coming from investors.

If I were you, I would just simply crush out the 9,900 and focus on the top 100. If that is hard enough for you to seriously analyze, crush out the 98 and just focus on buying Bitcoin and Ethereum.  when it comes a coins with a great potential through coinmarketcap, perhaps in my view it should be listed wherein at least among with the top 10 or upto 20 coins.. Because thats what's others doing as well when they looking for a great coin to trade. But of course they make research about how genuine the project is before anything else, because for them that's the most important when choosing a coin especially if its for long term and i agree with that.

You are right, with the number of coins and tokens in the market right now, deciding on the type of coin to buy or discovering a coin with great potentials can be a herculean task. However, I think that before embarking on such you need to first decide the type of investment plan you want, that is, is it long term or short term, after deciding on this, it will go a long way in helping you sort out projects.
Now, if it's for long term, then top 100-150 on coinmarketcap can be a good place to get started, these are coins which have tried their best to reach that rank on coinmarketcap and as such will only keep trying to maintain growth.
On the other hand, if it's for short term, then check upcoming projects and their team motive towards the platform, in addition to this should also be the use case of the project, once everything is in place, check the exchange they are listing on before making your final move. Since it's for short term, know when to take profit.

there are many altcoins on the exchange market and almost all of their data is centralized on Coinmarketcap. So before buying altcoins, I did some research on some of the altcoins listed on Coinmarketcap and the altcoins that were in the top 50 - 100 positions. and after finding several altcoins then I saw that they were listed in the top 10 market or not. because I will buy altcoins that are in the top 50 - 100 and the market that is in the top10 coinmarketcap.

Not all currencies are worth traking and part of them is a waste of MB in which they are stored.
Either way, it is by using data offered by coinmarketcap or coingecko, new sites apply for hosting and CMC,coingecko list them and track their price.
The problem is that most of these currencies do not have significant market capacities and most of them are under the control of a small number of shareholders.

Frankly speaking (writing actually), it's a 50/50 thing between discovering profitable altcoins and ending the search with a scam alt. The crypto industry is a highly speculative one. This makes a lot of people mistake it for gambling and as such equal it to a "get rich scheme" which it isn't. At the moment, there's this trend of meme tokens running into quadrillion in supply and people are rushing into that with the aim of making an easy x10 flip or so from their investments and quickly cashing out. In most cases, it has paid off well for people especially those who get in at 8 zeroes.

 If your goal is a profitable investment, then you cannot do without a thorough analysis. Therefore, be sure to look through all the information about the project and their coin. There are indeed a lot of coins on the Coinmarketcap list, and most of them are dead. I suggest that you can choose coins ranked 200 and above. Apart from that, you check if it is on a particular exchange, so that you can make exchanges. Many of the coins on Coinmarketcap have been deleted from the exchange.
