These type of stuff shows the difference between the rich nations and the poor nations. In my nation we are waiting for vaccination so that we could be vaccinated, I would go get ANY vaccination even the Chinese one if I can get it right now, literally would stop doing whatever I am doing and go get one as soon as possible if I had the chance, but I do not, and we are lacking vaccination which is why I am just waiting non-vaccinated and personally locked myself in my home for the past year.

Whereas these super rich nations, just like USA for example, have a state that does a lottery for the vaccinated people, it is not even about having vaccination at that point, it is about convincing people to have vaccination, it is a rich persons problem because in my nation EVERYONE would get it as soon as possible, if there are any who decline it must be like less than 100 people because I never heard about it anywhere.

While some are waiting for the vaccine to arrive in their area, there are others that they are only waiting for their constituents to avail such vaccine. And to the point that they will be holding million dollar lottery or any related promotional programs. There are people who decline even if it is readily available in their area because of other beliefs that they may get sick afterwards, or they are better without the vaccine and so on.

This is the proof that we really need the vaccines to become more successful so we can go back to our normal life.

And regarding the lottery that offers a price money is great to surely make a person 100% be willing to take the vaccine I guess a small amount will surely do.

In my opinion, giving incentives to people who will take the vaccine is a good way in order to stimulate people in going to vaccinate. Anyway, we don't have that here, and I guess people would want to be compensated with the risk that they are going to take. Especially when some persons are spreading negative news about the vaccine and that might have affected the peoples drive to take the jab. Hope everything will be normalized within the year.

It's too early to say that the vaccines that we have is indeed effective, who knows if its side effect will only show after a long period of time, that's why you can't blame other people if they are having second thoughts about getting vaccinated since we're talking about lives here. It's so epic if you'll be killed by the vaccine after you took care of yourself in the whole period of COVID-19 pandemic.

As a way to make every citizen get vaccinated Ohio State authority have come up with the good plan. The lottery has been categorised into two. People above the age of 18 and students below 18 years of age. On the first week's lottery winner draw Abbigail Bugenske, a 22 year old has won the $1 million prize whereas Joseph Costello, 14 years old student has got entire scholarship for his college studies. It should be, if a rich country has an oversupply of the vaccine, it should be donated to a poor country. But the fact is that rich countries still don't
care about poor countries, the proof is that there are still many vaccine supplies they have past the expiration date. And it had to be destroyed,

5 winners is just too small and i do agree on the idea on splitting up the pool for more winners even though its not already a million but $100,000 would really be considerable.

Well congratulation to the winner and for the upcoming winners of their draw.
I just found out that there are also some local vaccine site in the Philippines who also have some giveaways or free draw for their citizens who also got vaccinated but not as big as this one I think it was grocery supplies (Food and rice).
Even though it isn't that much for others but because of this pandemic many families has suffer and lack of it so it is still a huge blessing for those who really needed it and won in their raffle draw.

That's really true luck for that woman, she's truly going to be a legend and will be part of this history which will be remembered continuously in all of this pandemic. She got the vaccine shot and she got the prize money. An easy thing to comply when the government wants its people to be vaccinated and this is the kind of incentive that many would love to take on because the prize money is high.

Well... I was initially not very excited about this, but now it looks as if the plan has worked. Vaccination rates in Ohio have picked up pace, after the lottery was announced. And now other states (New York, Maryland, Oregon and Colorado) have also announced similar lotteries, to encourage the inoculation program. Also, the prize money is not given in cash. It is handed out as college scholarship. And therefore I believe that this is a great initiative, which eradicates the possibility of misuse or squandering.

Well the other thing that I observed here is that amoung poorer countries there is this hesitation among the poor to take the vaccine, al least that is what's happening in my area. People are believing the hearsays about the vaccine being a bad thing and that it would cause more illness and even death among them. I don't know who is behind this malicious campaign but it is coming from some monied anti-vaccine people who are out to destroy the government's efforts to vaccinate as many people as they can.

Right now it is the youth, who are behaving recklessly. Many of them are refusing to get vaccinated and they are not following the social distancing protocols and precautions such as wearing mask. On the other hand, most of the elderly population has reacted positively to the vaccination campaign, except a few anti-vaxxers. My opinion is that it doesn't matter whether they are targeting the young or old. As the proportion of the vaccinated population goes up, herd immunity can be achieved that sooner.
