You can have money and be unhappy, this depend on the source of it, but i can assure you that any "hand earned" money or labour do last long.

Another scenario is you may not have money and be happy, this goes with been contempted with whatsoever thing you have, you have the same opportunity others have to strife hard and make a living. There is a popular opinion in the locale that "A man who has money doesn't easily get angry or offended, lol". This statement goes the other way as well, that "A man who doesn't have money is easily offended by everything and everyone".

I don't think it's fair to expect such behavior from everyone because I've seen so many rich people who are mildly offended.  They think he can do whatever he wants and he doesn't care what others think.  Again, I have seen people who have but they get along very well with everyone.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter how much money I have, it just depends on whether I can spend as much as I need.  This need can be your own or someone you love.  Just like if my younger brother asks me for money and I can't pay, then I feel bad if I can pay I feel good.  When I can help a poor person with money, I feel satisfied with my work even though I have not benefited from this expenditure.  I don't think happiness depends on how much money I am earning or how much money I have.  Happiness is found in how much money I can help myself, my family, and the helpless people around me.  It can be done with much less money.

Easy to say for those people who do have money but its indeed reality that everything couldnt be bought by money which is love,time and health where we do know that these things are valuable and shouldnt really be wasted or taken for granted.

Happiness is a not a thing but its an expression or emotion and I think that was the person thinks when he said that quote about money cant buy happiness although for we us we think that is wrong because our happiness comes out when we have a money or when we use our money to buy a certain things but your assumption is wrong about people that have a money will not work hard anymore.

Money is not everything, but everything needs money, the term does have a fairly broad meaning for those who are able to understand it, in my opinion.
To achieve true happiness, of course, it is not money that is the benchmark, but everything needed for happiness of course we need money to get, in today era maybe we can't be hypocritical by underestimating money, because if we want to have true happiness, of course, the necessities of life such as primary and secondary needs should have been met and to fulfill it money is the main requirement that we must have for exchange it.
