in my country still don't accept payment in BTC and i can only store BTC secretly, not public because if i know i will be fined some amount. I feel this is so bad why am I living in such a backward country . The whole world has almost accepted BTC as payment currency, but my country is so depressed.
Whoever mines the block which ends up containing your transaction will get its fee.

Definitely but it is a pretty rare occasion in my country so there's not much going on plus I only do it with big transactions because I think that it is wasteful to spend it on small things like food or drinks or clothing. Hopefully we can arrive to that point where it's not wasteful to spend bitcoin on small things that I have mentioned before.

Not every time, last month I use to purchased it to the renewals of domains and hosting related products. Unlike before years ago I use it to buy steam wallets, mobile prepaid loads, vpn and even some other digital products. The reason is obvious I'm holding hoping it will reach or break $40k again.

it all depends on each, whether to use bitcoin to buy daily necessities or not, but in my country no one wants to accept bitcoin in buying small items, but if in the future someone wants to accept bitcoin for small payment instruments , so in my own opinion I don't want to do that, I will still buy using fiat currency, because we all know bitcoin is a very valuable asset, so we will definitely lose, because it is a very valuable asset, we only use it for buy small things

I agree it depends on the situation and the rules of each country, with many countries still prohibiting using Bitcoin as a means of payment.
So not everyone uses Bitcoin to buy something, let alone buying cheap goods, it is not effective to pay with Bitcoin. I like you prefer to use
fiat to buy the things I need, so Bitcoin for me is just a digital asset that will provide profit in the future.

Likewise for me too. I have not really used Bitcoin to pay for anything directly even though I might want to do that if there are local retail stores that accept Bitcoin in my country which there's not at the moment.
I basically will like to keep my Bitcoin as an asset for long term investment instead of using it for daily purchases for now because I don't see myself in that position yet to be able to spend the what Holding I have of Bitcoin on daily purchases until such time I feel I have accumulated and wouldn't feel what I have spent directly as Bitcoin will not seem like a loss if the price appreciates.

I do this because if enough people do the same, they will realize that this is something that a significant percentage of their customers would like to see, and to "normalize" the idea of customers being willing (or even wanting) to pay via bitcoin.
I guess you mean the merchants you're paying face-to-face.

Generally? Yes.

My dentist, my doctor, my plumber, my HVAC service, my barber, when I'm eating at a restaurant, when I purchase furniture, when I buy a car, etc.

What about the online services? Would you rather pay an unknown man cash instead of credit and trust he'll not rip you off?

Like I said, "with similar levels of quality and service". It all depends on the level of trust I have that the merchant will honor their obligations.  For example, I pay my monthly bill for Dish satellite TV service via Bitcoin instead of credit card. In the past, I've also made purchases from Overstock.com via Bitcoin instead of credit card.

— Let's have some fun.

I believe that the majority of the forum users want to see Bitcoin being globally adopted, including myself; I imagine people using it in their daily transactions for food, coffee etc. Lightning payments can tackle the scaling issue and the only thing left for Bitcoin to be used as a currency from the whole world is its mass usage. If the adoption rate increased so would the price's standability.

So, do you set a good example and pay with Bitcoin whenever you're able to or do you prefer not to spend your coins? I'll speak my personal view about this, in my country none of the merchants accept it and I rarely buy some hosting services from the internet. If they do accept it, I'll pay for it, but not because it satisfies me; it's just that I can't with PayPal. I'd prefer paying with PayPal for online services, because I may be scammed if they aren't popular.

Not sure why irreversibility is an advantage when you're paying an unknown person online. That's why I'd prefer having a third party for my online transactions.
Speaking frankly at this time I am not spending or buying anything with Bitcoin as I am not holding a large portion of the funds in my wallet and prefer to save them for future instances but yes In the past I have made transactions like purchased gaming stuff with it last year and at this time most of local shops around me do not accept cryptos so it becomes even more complicated to spend them even sometimes I wish to do so.But yes if adoption is spread to small shops then I would be happy to buy anything just by scanning the QR code and funds are deducted from my wallet over LN.But still holding them for this time and using my inflationary cash to wipe them out for my expenditure as it would become trash at one point compared to inflation and then I would use my btc.

yes but it depends on the amount of bitcoin what i'm trying to buy is going to cost. for example if i go to the grocery store and see they accept bitcoin then i would definitely pay with bitcoin but if it wanted to buy a house or a car then i won't do it, not just because i don't have enough bitcoin for it but also because even if i did it would be a big chunk of my bitcoin balance which i won't be comfortable with spending.

There is a FOMO brewing...

I am a Bitcoin user and whether there is a possibility to pay via Bitcoin, I never miss that chance if the transaction fee is low or if there is an option of Lighting Network!
But, but... If the transaction fee is and no LN support and there is an option of altcoin payments, then I always stick with XRP.
I really prefer Bitcoin over other coins but really, I don't see its place in massive transactions and payments. I think that it's not ready for massive usage and there are better alternatives when it comes to transactions only.

I am not a guy who thinks that bitcoin can save the world, etc blablabla. The reason why I prefer BTC over other payment methods is that I trade cryptos and it's more beneficial, easy and comfortable for me and then - I don't have to worry about whether certain websites will accept/reject my card and won't have a need to match billing address to shipping address.

If you want me to be honest, I don’t. I HODL most of my stash which I’ve amassed over 6 years. I rarely spend bitcoin on trivial things. I see bitcoin as a hedge against inflation, a savings vehicle. Bitcoin has changed my life, HODL your bitcoin. Too many people spend it all & majorly regret it when the price increases.
Probably, a significant number of bitcoin holders do this. Who will spend their bitcoins if we expect a further significant increase in its price? This means knowingly killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. This is one of several reasons why bitcoin is still not widely used as a means of payment. I don't even know if this situation will change for the better in the future. If bitcoin stops growing significantly in price, then it will not be used as a means of payment for other reasons, which are now less significant.

Majority would really be ending up on holding no matter what and as long they could get those services or goods on using fiat then it isnt just really that worth on making use or spending your precious coins.

We know the potential and it doesnt really have any sense if you do sell out your coins on a very short term unless if you are an active trader then you would most like having this kind of behavior.

Im not trying to clean up my hands on here but i do experience on spending my coins for personal reason when it comes on buying and paying something and of course this would really

be needing first on some conversion before you do able to do so but i do have some regrets that if i do able to save up those then i might be rich as of this moment.

Back when fees were super low, I would use my bitcoin were ever possible

but now that they kind of have gone up and we have alternatives that have way lower transaction fees than bitcoin

I hardly use bitcoin for my crypto payments unless it's the only option available.

1. If I have multiple merchants to choose from with similar levels of quality and service, and one of the merchants accepts bitcoin as payment, I'll choose the merchant that accepts bitcoin even if their price is a bit higher.
Absolutely, in fact I've found that people that are aware of Bitcoin tend to offer their services for less with Bitcoin. Assuming that they think they can hold it, and earn more on it in the future. I think this is true for all kinds of goods, because looking at the marketplace section you often get discounts with Bitcoin.

2. I frequently ask a merchant if they'll accept bitcoin as payment (even when I'm already pretty certain that they don't).  Especially if I'm talking to someone that is responsible for making decisions for the business or if I'm talking to someone that I believe is likely to have conversations with someone that is responsible for making decisions for the business.
Have you been able to convince any businesses that weren't accepting it at the time of asking? I feel like to be able to convince them, it would take a rather lengthy chat, and wouldn't be easy to do. Unfortunately, you would be working against the news, and the general volatility of Bitcoin.

I do think more of us including myself should be taking this approach though.

I can't say "whenever I have the chance". I don't use cash unless I'm obliged to. But I still prefer credit cards and bank cards more than Bitcoin for making payments when I buy something. Because I still don't see Bitcoin's payment system very healthy and logical. I'm waiting and hoping for Lightning Network to solve scalability problems. Once it's done, I'll start using Bitcoin for shopping etc. many more than now.

Cant spend it from where I am from. Nobody accepts bitcoin so I have no choice but to hold. I am not a gambler so I will not spend my bitcoin trying to play my luck but I do trade some of it to and fro with USDT only to increase my stock of bitcoin.

Good for you, I have heard of some hosting services that allow bitcoin payments but hosting services are not all that everyone needs. There needs to be bigger acceptance to see a better market buy/sell flow.

Risk of getting scammed is higher when you are sending first. It can be both a good and a bad thing. It will teach people to use their money carefully. Bad thing is that trust get involved here. So you would only be willing to send to a reputed company's wallet as going first and not go first with a individual person whom you never heard of.

your opinion is very reasonable, when there is a cheaper one so why do we use the more expensive one, we want to make money instead of looking for a name, we work for money not looking for advances, if bitcoin transactions are more expensive than fiat, of course we will use currency fiat money to do something..

Definitely but I will only do it for something that will help me make more money so for example, I plan to accumulate some bitcoin and spend about half of it to buy a team in Axie Infinity to breed it and sell the offsprings. But if we are talking about small purchases, I think that the potential value of bitcoin far outweighs the need to spend it in sats on things that you can just buy with fiat.

Me too. kinda think anything I have to spend my Bitcoin on has to be something that I would feel like I have not lost my Bitcoin or satoshis, For now, If for any reason I convert some to fiat and spend them will be more relaxing for me than spending Bitcoin directly so will want to feel some extra income or earnings coming from where/what I spent my Bitcoin on.

I would rather stick to fiat except my transaction with Bitcoin is below $100 but once it's above $100 I rather transact using fiat because I my coin would always appreciate over time so why gamble with it all in the name of making payment. If I have to do this then I'm only making the next man more richer especially once an increase in value occurs.
