— Let's have some fun.
I believe that the majority of the forum users want to see Bitcoin being globally adopted, including myself; I imagine people using it in their daily transactions for food, coffee etc. Lightning payments can tackle the scaling issue and the only thing left for Bitcoin to be used as a currency from the whole world is its mass usage. If the adoption rate increased so would the price's standability.
So, do you set a good example and pay with Bitcoin whenever you're able to or do you prefer not to spend your coins? I'll speak my personal view about this, in my country none of the merchants accept it and I rarely buy some hosting services from the internet. If they do accept it, I'll pay for it, but not because it satisfies me; it's just that I can't with PayPal. I'd prefer paying with PayPal for online services, because I may be scammed if they aren't popular.
Not sure why irreversibility is an advantage when you're paying an unknown person online. That's why I'd prefer having a third party for my online transactions.

Yes I do.
On a monthly basis, I used my bitcoins to pay for my internet, some credit cards, electricity and others. Just like lucky that our local exchanges (of course as third party) supports this kind of payment methods. Been doing it for the last 4 years. Of course I also hold some on my hardware wallets, but the ease of paying and really getting bitcoin to be used as payment schemes is good enough for me to do regularly.

What I recent read about El Salvador is that they are also adopting lightning network, with this, I have made the conclusion that if countries make Bitcoin a legal tender, the use of lightning network will increase abruptly. People will be able to pay in Bitcoin with low fee, even in coffee shops and where we visit often to buy goods and services.
I have ones paid on a particular site before using Bitcoin, when the mempool was less congested on Sunday, the site is trustworthy and reputed, I used Electrum for the payment and it was successful.
I will still advice people not to even use third-party or Fiat to pay on a site not trusted, I have a friend that ordered for a shoe on an untrusted and unknown site before, the money gone without no delivering of the shoe, all I do is I use trusted sites that are reputed and known and regulated by governmental laws.

I have been using Bitcoin where accepted. My country doesn't allow to use of cryptocurrencies. So usually I can't use it nationwide. You are paying for hosting, I am paying for the domain. As you know Namecheap accepts Bitcoin payments, so it easy to buy domains from there with Bitcoin. I can say it's hassle-free at all than using PayPal or a Master card. Also, I bought an Amazon gift card with Bitcoin from the forum. So obviously I always like Bitcoin adaption and I do not miss opportunities if I can spend Bitcoin directly for my needs. But to be honest, it's hard to spend Bitcoin lately due to high transaction fee.

If retail outlets permit and accept bitcoin I will gladly pay for good using bitcoin. With the lightning network, it will solve all scalability issues that way carrying out small transactions will be easier.

I use Bitcoin whenever possible because I don't have a credit card. There isn't many places that accept BTC directly but you can use gift cards for most major online stores. For a few other things I use prepaid Visa debit cards purchased with BTC.

I would prefer use my coins to pay stuff if the only merchant I trust only accept cryptos as their payment method, if they have another method then I would use the other so I don't bother with the fees. It also helps people to change their mind that Cryptocurrencies are not commonly used for illegal crimes only because this type of mindset still exists in here especially 2021. Also it makes me much cooler than using conventional method like Fiat.

If you want me to be honest, I don’t. I HODL most of my stash which I’ve amassed over 6 years. I rarely spend bitcoin on trivial things. I see bitcoin as a hedge against inflation, a savings vehicle. Bitcoin has changed my life, HODL your bitcoin. Too many people spend it all & majorly regret it when the price increases.

Is using crypto.com card count as paying with Bitcoin? I use it for small payments, such as coffee, snack and etc. I have never experienced a direct Bitcoin payment (situation when I have to scan qr code or transer direclty from wallet to wallet), because the things I wish to buy dont accept Bitcoin. But, I can pay them with crypto card. Finally, soon I wish travel to european countries and will havea chance to test paying with Bitcoin there.

For me buying anything on the internet is either difficult or requires a lot of setting up to do, so i always found that bitcoin is the easiest and the fastest way to pay for any online shopping, and i think that with bitcoin these days this has become more of a problem, for a person who is trying to buy something for 10 dollars he should be able to do so with ease and not have to pay half of that in fees or wait hours upon hours to do so, and i probably think that is the main reason that people don't use bitcoin for microtransactions anymore at least in my case.

I'm in the same boat as you, not being able to pay with BTC, because no one is accepting it. But that's probably because I almost never buy anything on p2p marketplaces, and big retailers don't accept BTC here. Although I actually never heard about crypto being used for payments often in my country, aside from drugs.
But even if I had such option, I'd probably use fiat instead, because Bitcoin is an appreciating asset, so I'd rather get rid of fiat first, especially with how unstable it is in my country.

Im using up my earned bitcoin in signature campaigns on paying up my bills using my local online wallet and of course those bitcoins would really be converted to fiat first before you can make any payments on services you do want to avail and this isnt limited with few merchants but almost everything you do need from mobile wallet load and from game credits or paying up your internet bills which i do really like the convenience that it gives to its users even though it isnt really that much worth on spending your money actively specially it is converted from your bitcoins but in talks about accessbility and comfort then nothing beats out on this one. I could make use of my funds without hesitance as long i do able to do things that i want. Savings on other storage is an another story.

Recently this is changed as I use more than one crypto/Bitcoin to pay someone or a merchant. Due to the wide acceptance of Bitcoin, it was the only option to transact earlier but now with the increase in the fees, I noticed merchants are accepting other altcoins also which helped me to pay with various coins other than crypto and save a good amount of money as fees.

at the moment? No. but our local online wallet(coins.ph) allows its users to pay monthly electric bills and other bills if I remember correctly, inside their platform. I am not exactly paying in BTC but I used to use it to exchange the BTC I have in my wallet into peso(local currency) and then pay the bills inside the platform. I stopped doing it because of the fee I needed to send the BTC to the online wallet(coins.ph) plus their conversion fee has become a little expensive for me. also, as far as I remember, you don't have to pay a fee when sending BTC (or another cryptocurrency available on the platform) to another account on the platform. I haven't really seen any store or online store in my area that accepts payment through coins.ph. they mostly use G-CASH(a local payment platform that doesn't support cryptocurrency) to accept payment. maybe if I stuble upon a store near my area I might try it out but at the moment it is hard to use BTC without exchanging it into FIAT.

Unfortunately, I have a similar situation with you. Theres no merchants or retailers accept Bitcoin around me due to my country doesn't allow its citizen to use Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as a payment method, as of now I only spent it to buy some digital stuff such as domain or gift cards.

I'll be honest here and say that I don't pay with bitcoin because I'd rather spend fiat money.
I hold bitcoin as an investment that grows in value while my fiat money loses value every year. Selling bitcoins and holding fiat money is counterproductive. I'd feel like sacrificing myself for the community. I'm not rich so I can't afford it.

Not only do I pay with Bitcoin whenever I'm able to, but also:
1. If I have multiple merchants to choose from with similar levels of quality and service, and one of the merchants accepts bitcoin as payment, I'll choose the merchant that accepts bitcoin even if their price is a bit higher.
I do this to reward businesses for making the decision and putting in the effort, and to provide financial incentive to other businesses to do the same.
2. I frequently ask a merchant if they'll accept bitcoin as payment (even when I'm already pretty certain that they don't). Especially if I'm talking to someone that is responsible for making decisions for the business or if I'm talking to someone that I believe is likely to have conversations with someone that is responsible for making decisions for the business.
I do this because if enough people do the same, they will realize that this is something that a significant percentage of their customers would like to see, and to "normalize" the idea of customers being willing (or even wanting) to pay via bitcoin.

In my country it is never approved to pay for goods and services using bitcoin or other altcoins, because there are no rules that legalize payments other than using Fiat payments. I have paid for domaind several times with boitcoin, but not a domain company in my country. Adoption is still not too wide, Cryptocurrency is only legalized as commodity trading, nothing more.
Currently El Salvador is an example of a country adopting Bitcoin to improve their country's economy and provide more modern payment options.

I used to back when it was a p2p currency. Nowadays the right thing to do according to the community is to HODL, right? That's how Bitcoin is going to have value according to those in control of it's development. You are supposed to just mortgage your house and buy as much Bitcoin as you can, then never sell your BTC and take out more loans as you need money using the Bitcoin as collateral. That's the new world we are all striving for right? Don't spend anything and take on as much debt as possible? That's what Michael Saylor told me and I'm sure he has the community's best interests in mind.
