I think that Hamburg has a little edge over Schalke since it is a home game, but that is about it. This is also what the odds reflect from the bookies. It is around 2.3 to to 3.0 with a draw being the least likely outcome although I think a draw is quite possible. If they are tied after 80 minutes, both teams would not want to give that point away because of playing too aggressively. and Schalke 04 will probably sign a new player today: Timo Baumgartl is expected to transfer to Schalke 04 today.
if the medical check is positive this morning, Timo Baumgartl will get a contract until 2025. i think Timo Baumgartl will fit in well with the Schalke team and strengthen the club.

today Hamburger SV has some injured and suspended players . today we don't have Mario Vuskovic , Ludovit Reis , Sebastian Schonlau ,Miro Muheim ,
Anssi Suhonen , William Mikelbrencis and also Jonas David . i think it will be a draw today . 1:1 or maybe even a win for Schalke 04.

would you have known that? are you bundesliga experts? the first bundesliga matches were in the 1963/1964 season. 
today, of the 18 clubs, only 5 are in the 1.bundesliga. but 7 are in the 2.bundesliga. that's really strange.
but the 2.bundesliga is really active this season. great teams, full stadiums. it doesn't get much better than that.

Ok that's an interesting piece of information, thanks for sharing. If Hamburg loses this one we will have the same public overreactions that we all know about, but it is kind of justified because Hamburg sucked so hard for so long now with all the resources and support they have.

It seems that the bookies are taking into account injuries and suspensions as I just checked and Hamburg's odds to win now got closer to those of Schalke. The gap was a bit bigger in the last days.

Well, as usual 2. Bundesliga will start the new season early and today's opening match is the match between Hamburger SV against Schalke. By the way I did not place a bet and the reason wasn't that I didn't want to, but I was busy otherwise away from my computer and too lazy to do it. But what the hell was this game? 5-3 in the opening game for the 2. Bundesliga and such a crazy final 10 minutes? Or should I rather say extra time. This game was not the boring game that I expected irrespective of who the teams were. It is not even a solid start for Hamburg, it was a win and three points of course, but a lot of weakness have come to light during this game on both sides.

Quite impressed with Hamburger SV's game, they dominated the game from the start and fired late shots on target 14 times. Robert Glatzel became the first goal scorer starter in the match. until in the end Hamburger won with 5 points and Schalke 3 points. This makes Hamburger's position at the top of the standings with 3 points. Waiting for some other matches which will certainly be more exciting.

Hamburger with an epic comeback over Schalke!! Can this be finally the year for Hamburger to go up and get back to the bundesliga. For everyone who likes the Northern teams, great start for Hannover 96 again. Their good times are over pretty much. They have had too many internal problems with their president who essentially wanted to become a majority owner, but I think some of the leading club officials were against it. But I can understand both sides to the story here as Kind invested a little fortune all those years and as far as I know he wasn't willing to spend larger amounts of money if he can't secure himself a majority stake. The result of the story is that they tie their first game against the underdog from Elversberg and I don't see them fighting for the first three positions.

the second team to be relegated from the 1.bundesliga also lost the match today. Hertha BSC Berlin lost 0:1 in Düsseldorf.
coach Pál Dárdai's team would have deserved a draw. but there was also a real curiosity in this match: Pál Dárdai left all three of his sons on the pitch today.
there has never been anything like it in the 2.bundesliga. 4 x Dárdai in the stadium. very very strange . but.... Berlin lost today even with 4 x Dárdai.

What a horror start into the 2. Bundesliga for Paderborn?

I have never been a big supporter of Kruse, but I admire him how he again and again sorts out to keep his name relevant in the business and despite all the weird things he is doing besides playing soccer is also of interest to Bundesliga clubs at his age and he made it into the starting formation of Paderborn today. Who cares, he is still making money playing the sport he loves, but why the coach of Paderborn expected him to be the right choice is beyond me.

An impressive 5-0 for Greuter Fürth was the reward for the brave decisions Kwasniok made.

That was really an impressive game. Muchh was promised and the spectators in the stadium and on TV saw a lot of action. Hamburg played this game with the B-team and the new players did a good job of promoting themselves. Nevertheless, it must be noted that the last two goals from Hamburg were scored after Schalke had played only with 10 players. So the next few weeks will show how good Hamburger SV really is.

I am a little surprised that Hamburg played so convincingly. They lost the relegation two months ago and apparently they got the defeat out of their minds. Another point why I am surprised is the quality of the team. In my opinion, Schalke has stocked up with new players better than Hamburg. They brought in Seguin and Tempelmann from Bundesliga 1 and Schallenberg from the direct rival Paderborn. Plus Baumgartl from PSV Eindhoven. So I think we will see more from Schalke.
So in any case I see more quality in the Schalke team. But maybe Hamburg has brought in some new players who will develop into jewels. Time will tell.

I missed the 1st matchday but surely this is the 1st match and likely even if I didn't miss it I still will not bet on the 1st matchday well just like you have said I need to test run the 1st matchday on the 2nd Bundesliga game so this is likely to look further if there are teams that likely made some upgrades right now, for now, I am looking further to the most dominant win like Furth win a dominant game against Paderborn, Hamburger SV winning to Schalke, FC St. Pauli winning against FCK, and Hansa Winning against Nurnberg is likely the teams that I am now taking a further look,

For me, I will be looking forward to the 3rd matchday but surely the 2nd matchday isn't really enough for me to make a judgment on a team will continue winning, for sure we can likely see who has great gameplay for the 2nd Bundesliga but for me, I would likely be ready than sorry so 1st 3 matchday will not be a betting portion for me, well I really like to see most teams potential to likely be going to the 1st division or for having a great players in making a great play or staying in the 1st division for good, just like what Union Berlin did,
