Hamburg - Schalke was the most important game of the week I think. Hamburg had a home stadium advantage actually but Schalke still performed better than them in most of the game. But they were able to equalize the score barely in the last minutes of the game and got a 1-1 draw. Hamburg wouldn't be happy about the result but they shouldn't be happy about their effort also.
Yes it was an important game for both of them i dont think the draw was what they looked for now they are both 5 points away from the second position and six from the first the game was equal in the first half but in the second half shalke team was hugely better they couldve won that game.

Good point but there are two sides of the medal. Maybe they were mentally and physically exhausted, now lost the game and can really recover over the Winter break and come back stronger again. It really depends on their first game after the break I think. If they can manage to win that one, they'll be fine even after this defeat. If they lose the next game they might start doubting themselves a little bit and lose confidence.

Could be. But if you are mentally and physically exhausted and then get something on top of that....you have to recover from that first. Some say that the professionals have to cope with that. But in the end, they are just as human as many others. We have to wait for the first games.

Well said, as far as exhausted and being drained because of the games well that is pretty normal and I think they would just need a good rest and every team should still priorities a good rest from day to day it would surely help a lot aswell, and 2nd Bundesliga games will surely resume on January 15 because of the holiday season, and I think that is a good long break they needed to prepare for the next game and perspective from the standings Darmstadt sure has a chance to overtake FC St. Pauli from the 1st place but there are still chance for St. Pauli to defend their position to secure their place from moving on the 1st division, and right now not only Darmstadt is doing great but Heidenheim and Schalke are doing their all and pretty much upped their performance lately, looking forward to these two clubs, if they can reach St. Pauli and Darmstadt in the clash.

Looking at the table... the 2nd Bundesliga is the better (well, at least the more exciting) Bundesliga. I bet we'll see a close race at the top towards the end of the season Smiley
Here the quotes for which team will advance to the 1st league:
St. Pauli 1.55
HSV 2.05
Bremen 2.15
Schalke 2.3
Darmstadt 2.9
Nürnberg 6.0
Heidenheim 6.5

Darmstadt despite it's favorable postion quite low...

If we compare between the club competition in the bundesliga and the bundesliga 2, it looks like the clubs in the bundesliga 2 seem more evenly distributed and many clubs still have many chances for promotion to the main bundes this season, there are only three teams that can qualify for the main bundes and look at the table At present, I think 7 teams still have a great chance to be promoted later because they only have a slight difference in points and if later there is a team that slips even if it's only for one match, it is certain that they will be displaced by another club.

In my opinion, it is also much more exciting to follow the second Bundesliga than the first. And not just since this season, but for a long time.
I would even say that anything is possible up to 9th place if you only look at the points. Paderborn is 3 points behind 3rd place.
We will see which teams will show stable performances.

Yes, I totally agree with you, we can see if the points obtained by Bundesliga 2 clubs are currently relatively small and this shows that the competition in Bundesliga 2 is much more competitive, now all nine teams have the opportunity to overtake and knock out other clubs in the league standings and of course this requires high consistency from these teams to be able to penetrate the Bundesliga 1 at the end of the season, but among the nine teams, I really hope St Pauli and Schalke can be promoted to Bundesliga1.

Jahn Regensburg lost points and is now the eighth team in the table. They have lost 4 of the last 5 matches. Schalke has improved their performance. The team is stable enough now. They are now the fourth team in the points table. They are just 6 points behind Pauli at the top of the points table. If Schalke is to maintain their form, they deserve to be at the top of the points table.

Pauli could have single-handedly topped the table if they had not lost points in the last two games. In the last match, Pauli's team lost to Holstine. This is their fourth defeat of the season. However, the Schalke team is really strengthening themselves day by day. They will rise higher above the table. Hamburger has lost just two matches but has drawn nine.

And Darmstadt are following them from one point behind. I would really like to see Hamburg and Schalke in the Bundesliga again as of the next season. And they are right behind those two in the standings now. It looks like this is going to be a really competitive season for all of these teams.

St. Pauli (and Darmstadt) doesn't surprise me. In the 2019/20 season, they only had 16 (18) points after the first half of the season, were at 15th (14th)  place and then they worked more and more as a team and finished the season with 47 (51) points. They have taken this spirit with them into the current season. Great performance so far.

@judas it’s a welcome break for the player’s who’ll also get some much needed family time, and rest too as it’s been a tough year for them too. Furthermore St, Pauli have played really good so far, but if their form dips post the break then they’ll be in big trouble, hence I’m hoping that they can continue this fine form once the league resumes again.

I think what's surprising is Hamburger SV because even though Hamburger SV are in third place, but Hamburger SV so far have only lost 2 and it's the only team so far in the 2. Bundesliga that has lost the fewest. Also, there are four teams that have collected the same points at the end of this year's break with 30 points, the competition for third place is clearly still a hunt for many teams. Because for me, positions one and two might be defended by St. Pauli and Darmstadt and it is possible, considering the points gap which I think is good enough for both of them.

I don't think that 5 or 6 points is a save gap in a league with so many teams on a similar level. They do have a slight advantage, but not more than that. All it takes is a loss against a direct competitor and it's practiacally even. For me all the spots are wide open and everything is possible. I expect an exciting second half of the season.

i see it exactly the same way. st. pauli and darmstadt 98 can't feel safe yet either ... there are still 16 matchdays to play and with this constelation there can still be a lot of movement in the table. all clubs are simply very close to each other with their points.

Schalke which is one of the big clubs in germany, was forced to suffer relegation after playing quite badly last season, seeing schalke game which has started to improve this season of course they have a chance to be able to return to play in the bundesliga, schalke who are now in the top 4 still have 16 match to get back into the promotion zone, to be honest I really want to see schalke next season return to their natural habitat in the Bundesliga 1.

I would really like to see Hamburg and Schalke in the Bundesliga again as of the next season.

Hamburger SV has always played at the top in recent years and they were always a candidate for promotion. But in the last few match days at each season they didn't make it. No idea why. I think it will be the same again this season.

There are more former "big" teams in the 2nd league, besides Hamburg and Schalke, for instance Nürnberg and Bremen. Not all of them can't make it, but I am pretty sure that we will see 1-2 out of those 4 going up again next year.

As a fan of Schalke 04, you can soon look forward to a documentary about your club. So far, no date is known when the documentary will be shown. But surely other fans and not only Schalke fans will watch it.

It can certainly be assumed that at least one of them will occupy the first 3 places.

i also believe that this season a club will be promoted to the 1st bundesliga that already played in the 2nd bundesliga last season and the second club to be promoted will be last year's relegated club from the 1st bundesliga (bremen or schalke).
my wish would currently be st. pauli and werder bremen Wink

I think what's surprising is Hamburger SV because even though Hamburger SV are in third place, but Hamburger SV so far have only lost 2 and it's the only team so far in the 2. I just want to remind you @coco23 to be more careful in cutting the quoted post, you quoted Juggy777's post by putting my name in the quote you cut.

But about the competition 2. Bundesliga indeed, with a gap of 5-6 points even 10 points still does not guarantee they will be safe. But if they can be consistent or at least can perform better than the teams below, then I personally believe at the end of the season they have a better chance to be able to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
